The study determined the extent of application of the transcendental leadership style by the school administrators of secondary schools in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte during the school year 2009-2010 as perceived by 165 teachers. The research was descriptive - inferential in nature and used researcher-constructed questionnaire and the PAST for teachers’ performance. The data were statistically treated with percentage, weighted mean, Pearson correlation coefficients, chi-square and multiple linear regressions. The study disclosed that the length of service and civil status of the teachers significantly determine the extent of the application of transcendental leadership style on the vision and mission, and the sex of the teachers significantly determine the extent of the application of the organization’s superior – subordinate relationship. The extent of the application of transcendental leadership style concerning the organization’s vision and mission and organization’s superior subordinate relationship significantly determine the performance rating of the teachers. The administrators should conduct regular monitoring of the teachers, promote improvement of their spiritual development, and encourage their professional growth. A summer institute on transcendental leadership styles for the executive positions in the Department of Education is endorsed. Keywords - transcendental leadership, vision and mission, spirituality, teacher’s efficiency

One of the basic essential questions that many thinkers ask is whether values are teachable or not. Values essentially play a significant role in people's behavior, attitudes, perceptions, and motivations. Accordingly, these are manifested in the practice of their work. In this context, the workplace values are concerned with an individual's belief towards performance and evaluative standards relative to their professional duties and responsibilities. The fact that the integration of these values is the best predictor of organizational commitment. In the Diocesan schools of Antique, the teachers seem to have inadequately assimilated and minimally imbibed the practice of Christian and work values, which compromise their commitment to the profession. Thus, the paper assessed the practice of workplace values and the degree of organizational commitment of basic education teachers in Antique Diocesan Catholic Schools (ADCS) for the School Year 2019-2020. Likewise, it determined the difference in the two variables when teachers were grouped according to their age, sex, length of service, and educational attainment. Also, it analyzed the correlation between their practice of workplace values and the degree of organizational commitment.

The paper reflects one of the aspects of the research carried out within the framework of the project “Nature of variability of negative personality traits: a twin study”. The research reviews the adaptive component of negative personal traits. The sample of the study consisted of 136 members of monozygotic twins and 401 only children in their families aged 18-78. Life satisfaction was a generalized metric of psychological adaptation. It is shown that a number of negative personality traits (in particular, narcissism, authoritarianism) positively correlate with life satisfaction. The biased value of various personality traits, which can also indirectly serve as an indicator of adaptability of these psychological properties, was assessed using a semantic differential. The age-related changes in the perfect image of the self, which are associated primarily with some more attractive negative personal traits, as well as the multidirectional desired changes in personality traits in themselves and the twin (more power and conflict in themselves and less of the same in the brother/sister) also indicate that a number of negative personal traits play a positive role in psychological adaptation. It is assumed that these traits can have a compensatory function during stress, and the destructiveness of these traits can have a greater impact on people around than on themselves.

IntroductionSchool-based active mile initiatives such as The Daily Mile (TDM) are widely promoted to address shortfalls in meeting physical activity recommendations. The iMprOVE Study aims to examine the impact of TDM on children’s physical and mental health and educational attainment throughout primary school. Methods and analysisiMprOVE is a longitudinal quasi-experimental cohort study. We will send a survey to all state-funded primary schools in Greater London to identify participation in TDM. The survey responses will be used for non-random allocation to either the intervention group (Daily Mile schools) or to the control group (non-Daily Mile schools). We aim to recruit 3533 year 1 children (aged 5–6 years) from 77 primary schools and follow them up annually until the end of their primary school years. Data collection taking place at baseline (children in school year 1) and each primary school year thereafter includes device-based measures of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and questionnaires to measure mental health (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire) and educational attainment (ratings from ‘below expected’ to ‘above expected levels’). The primary outcome is the mean change in MVPA minutes from baseline to year 6 during the school day among the intervention group compared with controls. We will use multilevel linear regression models adjusting for sociodemographic data and participation in TDM. The study is powered to detect a 10% (5.5 min) difference between the intervention and control group which would be considered clinically significant.Ethics and disseminationEthics has been approved from Imperial College Research Ethics Committee, reference 20IC6127. Key findings will be disseminated to the public through research networks, social, print and media broadcasts, community engagement opportunities and schools. We will work with policy-makers for direct application and impact of our findings.

Heritable variance in psychological traits may reflect genetic and biological processes that are not necessarily specific to these particular traits but pertain to a broader range of phenotypes. We tested the possibility that the personality domains of the five-factor model and their 30 facets, as rated by people themselves and their knowledgeable informants, reflect polygenic influences that have been previously associated with educational attainment. In a sample of more than 3,000 adult Estonians, education polygenic scores (EPSs), which are interpretable as estimates of molecular-genetic propensity for education, were correlated with various personality traits, particularly from the neuroticism and openness domains. The correlations of personality traits with phenotypic educational attainment closely mirrored their correlations with EPS. Moreover, EPS predicted an aggregate personality trait tailored to capture the maximum amount of variance in educational attainment almost as strongly as it predicted the attainment itself. We discuss possible interpretations and implications of these findings.

Teachers are influential individuals in the society.  They can positively influence various aspects of people's lives.  If financially learned, they can become role models for students and help develop a financially responsible family.  Thus, teachers are key contributors to the development of society.  This study aimed to assess the degree of financial attitude and the level of financial management of public elementary school teachers in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental during the School Year 2019-2020 as a whole and when grouped according to age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, family monthly income, and location of residence. It also sought to establish if there is a significant difference in the degree of their financial attitude and their level of financial management when they are grouped according to the variables.  It also determined if a significant relationship exists between financial attitude and financial management.  Findings were used for a financial literacy program that seeks to improve the financial attitude and financial management of the said teachers.

Background and Study Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between personality traits and optimal performance mood in response to gender, sports branch, weekly training hours of the athletes competing in the university league variables. Material and Methods: A total of 250 volunteer athletes from 17 universities, 75 female and 175 male, participated in the study. 95 of the athletes are basketball and 155 are volleyball players. In addition to the personal information form which includes demographic information prepared by the researchers, “Optimal Performance Mood Scale” developed by Jackson and Eklund (2004) and adapted to Turkish by Aşçı et al. (2007) and “5-factor personality traits scale” developed by Benet-Martinez, John (1998) and adapted to Turkish by Schmitt, Allik, McCrae and Benet-Martinez (2007) were applied to the participants. Frequency analysis was applied in order to determine the participants’ demographic information based on the statistical data analysis, and unpaired t-test was applied to determine the personal traits and optimal performance mood scores in response to gender, branch, weekly training sessions. Furthermore, in order to determine the relationship between that personal traits and optimal performance moods correlation test was applied. Statistical significance level was accepted as p <0.05. Results: As a result of the analysis of the data obtained; while there was no significant difference between the athletes according to the gender variable, it was concluded that there was a significant difference between sports branch, weekly sport variables and personality traits and optimal performance moods. In addition, a positive correlation was found between the participants' personality traits and optimal performance moods as a result of the correlation test (r=0,608). Conclusions: This study has proved that personality traits and optimal performance moods effect one another positively and gender variable makes no significant difference. Yet, sport branches and weekly training hours makes meaningful differences between general and subscales scores.

Background Depression is associated with lower educational attainment, but there has been little investigation of long-term educational trajectories in large cohorts with diagnosed depression. Aims To describe the educational attainment trajectories of children with a depression diagnosis in secondary care, and to investigate whether these trajectories vary by sociodemographic characteristics. Method We identified new referrals to South London and Maudsley's NHS Foundation Trust between 2007 and 2013 who received a depression diagnosis at under 18 years old. Linking their health records to the National Pupil Database, we standardised their performance on three assessments (typically undertaken at ages 6–7 years (school Year 2), 10–11 (Year 6) and 15–16 (Year 11)) relative to the local reference population in each academic year. We used mixed models for repeated measures to estimate attainment trajectories. Results In our sample of 1492 children, the median age at depression diagnosis was 15 years (interquartile range = 14–16). Their attainment showed a decline between school Years 6 and 11. Attainment was consistently lower among males and those eligible for free school meals. Black ethnic groups also showed lower attainment than White ethnic groups between Years 2 and 6, but showed a less pronounced drop in attainment at Year 11. Conclusions Those who receive a depression diagnosis during their school career show a drop in attainment in Year 11. Although this pattern was seen among multiple sociodemographic groups, gender, ethnicity and socioeconomic status predict more vulnerable subgroups within this clinical population who might benefit from additional educational support or more intensive treatment.
