Internet usage in Indonesia is growing rapidly each year. Information on the internet is considered to affect the way of thinking and the behaviour of its users. This can be seen, among other things, on the women internet user’s desired or ideal number of children. This research aims to study the patterns and differentials of the ideal number of children among women in Indonesia according to internet usage and the effect of the use of internet on women’s ideal number of children in Indonesia after controlling for the effects of socio-economic factors. This study used data from the results of 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (DHS). The method used to analyze the data is multinomial logistic regression. The analysis is conducted on all childbearing-aged women (15-49 years old) and married childbearing-aged women. The results of the study show that childbearing-aged women who used the internet wanted less children compared to those who did not use the internet. The results of this study can be used as a reference by the related stakeholders to formulate policies that support fertility level management in Indonesia using information and communication technology, the internet in particular.

Objectives: This study was conducted to estimate the mean ideal number of children and to determine the overall prevalence of childlessness, one child, two children, as well as three children and more as the ideal number of children in Iran. Further, the study investigated the effect size of the relationship between social factors and ideal fertility. Materials and Methods: To this end, a systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted on all studies on ideal fertility that were published from January 2000 to February 2018. Totally, 37 qualified papers and two national surveys were selected with a total sample size of 37,079 women. The degree of correlation between the ideal fertility and variables was calculated using Spearman’s correlation, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and r by using MedCalc 17 software. Results: The pooled mean ideal fertility by the random effect was 2.25 in Iran. The results of the Cochran test and I2 statistics showed considerable heterogeneity regarding the prevalence of the ideal number of children (Q=1722.0911, P<0.0001, and I2 =97.62%). In addition, the proportions of childlessness, 1 child, 2 children, along with 3 children and more as the ideal parity were 0.83, 15.99, 56.092, and 22.26, respectively. The pooled correlation coefficients demonstrated that age, actual fertility, and the economic costs of children are the most important predictors of ideal fertility. Conclusions: Despite the differences in the actual fertility level in different regions of Iran, two children is the the predominant pattern of the number of desired children. This result implies a convergence of fertility ideals in Iran. If desirable conditions for childbearing are provided, fertility could be maintained at the replacement level.

Every family wants to have a certain number of children, this is inseparable from the value of children in each different family so sometimes a family wants 3 to 5 children. The ideal number of children owned by a person will frustrate the achievement of the 2 children program launched by the Indonesian government. The ideal number of children according to someone will be influenced by many things such as education, housing and access to information media. This study uses secondary data of 2017 IDHS using a structured questionnaire and asked the WUS. The study population was married women of childbearing age in North Sumatra Province. The sample in this study was 2459 women of childbearing age who were married. The agency in the 2017 IDHS research used a structured questionnaire. Bivariate data analysis uses Chi-square test and for multivariate analysis uses ordinal logistic regression.

The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between residence (p value <0.001), level of education (p value <0.001), radio listening access (p value <0.023), access to the internet with the ideal number of children (p value <0.023) with a preference for the ideal number of children. There was no relationship between family planning field visits (p = 0.376) with the ideal number of children of childbearing age.

National Population and Family Planning Agency must be more intense in providing education and outreach about the ideal number of children to women of childbearing age in urban areas. North Sumatea Province BKKBN must be more intense in socializing enough 2 children's programs on the internet and radio media so that women of childbearing age have a preference for the ideal number of 2 children.

Background: Internet is a boon and has certainly helped to bring the world closer. It has been a great medium for students to communicate and get information by transforming the academic landscape. However the excessive and undisciplined use of internet by individuals especially in the last decade, has led to the emergence of the concept of internet addiction. Therefore, a cross sectional study has been conducted to investigate the use of internet facility among undergraduate students from Teerthankar Mahaveer University using a validated questionnaire. There were about 42 million active internet users in urban India in 2008 when compared to 5 million in 2000. India now has the world’s third-largest national digital population, with approximately, 159 million Internet users in 2014, which is projected to reach 314 million by 2017 (IMRB 2014). The aim was to study prevalence and pattern of internet usage among undergraduate students in Moradabad. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted among medical students (n=382) belonging to all the professionals of medical college, to assess the pattern of internet usage. A semi-structured proforma along with Young’s internet addiction scale was used. Results: Of the 382 adolescents who took part in the study, 150 (39.27%) were female and 232 (60.73%) were males. Their mean age was 16.20 years. Using Young’s original criteria, 22 (5.76%) were found to be addicts, 230 (60.21%) were moderately addicted, 45 (11.78%) were average users while in 85 (22.25%) of student’s internet use was less than average. Most of internet use was for social networking 183(47.9%), downloading media files 125 (32.7%), online gaming 45 (11.8%), academic purposes 10 (2.6%) and others 19 (5%). About 275 (72%) of the students were using smart phones to access the internet. Conclusions: Most of the internet usage was for the purpose of social networking (Facebook, Whats App, Mails, etc). Availability of high speed free wi-fi internet on mobile phones as well as more reliance on virtual friendship than real may be the reason for spending more time on social network websites.

Why are some countries successful with e-commerce while others flounder? The purpose of this article is to study the impact of technology, cultural, and socio-economic factors on the global diffusion of e-commerce. While past studies have focused on technology reasons alone, this research includes cultural and socio-economic factors as well. Having access to the Internet does not necessarily translate to e-commerce usage. Fundamentally, culture and socio-economic factors are pivotal in bridging the gap between Internet usage and e-commerce diffusion. The objective is to provide a model that quantifies the aggregated influences of all factors on global e-commerce diffusion. A cross-country regression model analyzes the determinants of e-commerce diffusion and the results used in a cluster analysis to provide further evidence that the propensity for e-commerce depends on the interplay among the different factors. The results can provide firms with an improved understanding of strategies to employ while implementing e-commerce.

Why does the birthrate in China continuously decline? Why are Chinese people unwilling to have children now even after the One-Child Policy has been abandoned? I propose that the government policy was not the single crucial factor affecting the reduction of births in China. Household income, education, and gender also may have played a role. I use the 2015 Chinese General Social Survey to analyze the relationships between these three factors and the ideal number of children. The sample size of this subset is 2,373. Ordinary least square regression reveals that the ideal number of children increases as household income increases, while increasing education reduces the ideal number of children. Gender of potential parents does not have an effect on predicting the ideal number of children. The findings support the effects of household income and education on fertility willingness but reject that of gender. This study contributes to a sociological perspective on the demography of China. It suggests from an institutional perspective which factors would need to be changed to increase individuals’ fertility willingness.

AbstractWith the emergence of new information and communication technologies, scholars and politicians view the Internet as a means both to govern and to bring citizens, especially younger generations, closer to the political process. Given the tremendous impacts of the Sunflower Movement on Taiwanese politics, this paper sets out to dynamically examine whether and to what extent the Internet inspired offline electoral and non-electoral participations of Taiwanese young adults. While the younger generation's Internet usage for political causes significantly encouraged their voting turnout in the 2014 election, a similar effect was not detected in either the 2012 or 2016 presidential and legislative elections. The estimated statistics not only show the particular effect of the Sunflower Movement on young adults' voting turnout and participation in self-help activities in the 2014 election, but also reveal that the fast-changing and diverse Internet domain did not have a long-lasting influence on young citizens' political engagement in the offline world.

This study explains the internet usage among Iranian users. Therefore it has been tried to give basic answers to this question that: What is the Iranians main use for internet and not shopping online? Based on this, by thoroughly analyzing the literature of internet users and develop a comprehensive theoretical model, the use of internet was tested in the web domain. The results indicate that; there is a significant relation between the demographic variables (age, education) and the motivations for using the Internet, also results show that in Iran, men and women use the internet for more searching motivations, and one of the major reasons that Iranian users do not shop online is the mistrust to receive that product. This study was done on a descriptive–analytical basis and based on the achievements of this research, it was recommended to advertising agencies that by using the indicators identified how to make appropriate steps in order to provide online advertising.
