Todays, despite valuable properties of these vegetables, revenue generation, employment creation, and prevention of emigration and difficult social and environmental conditions (main components of sustainable rural development), scant attention is devoted to improved growth of this plant and its proper use in different industries including pharmacy and it is exported to other countries by an unreasonable sale price without sufficient knowledge gaining of its properties. Improvement in its growth and its increasing use can exert significant socioeconomic and environmental impacts in rural regions. This study attempts to examine appropriate methods to prevent damages against ferula and reduction of production as wells as the related problems of farmers in Firuzkuh (Iran).

Abstract The article discusses the performance of the Family Centers of Formation by Alternation (CEFFAs). Through a case study, it was analyzed how much the School Agricultural Family (EFA) called Itapirema, located in the city of Ji-Paraná, State of Rondônia/Brazil, has contributed for the practices of sustainable rural development of the Central Territory in the State of Rondônia. In the theoretical framework are identified the main environmentalist visions, approaches of sustainable development and the concepts of education for the sustainable development. Data extracted from EFA Itapirema’s documents, treated by means of analysis of the content, permitted to identify the predominant conception of sustainable rural development in the school curriculum. By interviews and field observations were investigated the areas in which their ex graduates are acting and was analyzed how much those ex graduates and their families are aligned with the proposal of the School. The result indicates that the environmentalist approach of the School is inserted in a conception preservationist: the proposal of rural development embodies conceptions of sustainabilism and socio-environmentalist in a balanced form. However, it was identified in practice this equilibrium has not been achieved, because the conception sustainabilist has not being satisfactorily performed by the ex graduates and their families. Thus, the EFA Itapirema School’s proposal does not have practical consequence for rural sustainable development in the region where it acts, because it is much more based in its "being" than on its "doing". The agrifood industry contributes to sustaining the population and the economic growth in rural areas of Spain. Innovation in the agrifood sector has therefore become a necessity as a means of improving the competitiveness of companies and the territory, thus promoting sustainable rural development in areas currently characterised by social issues such as depopulation. Meeting this need requires the generation of specific knowledge on innovation in the rural agrifood industry to strategically steer the business management of innovation. This study aims to contribute to further improving the competitiveness of the agrifood industry through the interrelation of critical innovation factors in small and medium-sized agrifood enterprises, thus shedding light on the innovation environment of differentiated local products in depopulated rural regions. The qualitative Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) methodology was used with the participation of entrepreneurs and experts from the sector. The ISM was applied to a case study in Alcarria Conquense, a Spanish region that embodies the current problems of many rural territories. The results show four factors (cooperation, managerial skills, absorptive capacity, and market orientation) are binding variables with a high power of influence and dependence, and a fifth factor, funding, is the most dependent on the others. The work contributes to the literature by revealing the needs and opportunities for a potential strategic planning of rural development that can positively influence the problems of the region through innovation management in this industry.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the environmental situation in rural areas in Ukraine in order to develop proposals for the diversification of agricultural production and non-agricultural activities in these areas on the basis of sustainable development. Based on the anal-ysis of the scientific literature on sustainable rural development, protection, and reproduction of natural resource potential, the methodological basis for the study of the ecological component of sustainable rural development has been formed. In the course of the research monographic, economic-statistical methods and methods of scientific generalization and synthesis were used. Based on the study of the state of agricultural lands, a continuous decrease in fertility as a result of increasing the rate of their degradation is substantiated. It was found that agricultural pro-ducers have reduced capital investment in environmental protection. It is proposed to promote the development of organic production as one of the areas of diversification of agricultural activities in order to reduce degradation processes.
