Background: Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis that can often affect some patients who suffer from psoriasis. Approximately 40-50% of individuals with psoriatic arthritis have the HLA-B27 genotype Objective: To investigate whether we could confirm the role of HLA-B27 alleles and psoriatic arthritis in Iraqi Arab Muslims patients. Method: A cross sectional case control comparative study included thirty Iraqi Arab Muslims who had psoriatic arthritis that consulted the Dermatological and Rheumatological Department in AL-Kindy Teaching Hospital from November 2014 to June 2015. HLA-genotyping for HLA-B27 were assessed. A control group consisted of fifty-one healthy volunteers among the staff of Al-Kindy College of Medicine that did not have psoriatic arthritis or family history of psoriasis. HLA-B*27allele was done by using an Exicycler TM 96 Real-time Quantitative Thermal Block (Bioneer, Daejeon, Korea) and Accupower, HLA-B27 real-time PCR kit (Bioneer, Daejeon , Korea) Results: Plaque type psoriasis is more common than other types of psoriasis (66% versus 34%). There is no association between psoriatic arthritis and HLA-B27 with p-value of 0.1197 and Odds ratio (confidence interval) of 2.9375 (0.755-11.415). Conclusions: HLA B*27 is not associated with psoriatic arthritis in Iraqi Arab Muslims patients.

Objective: to determine the prevalence of explained and unexplained recurrent miscarriages (RM) and to find out if there is a significant relationship between recurrent miscarriages and consanguinity. Methods: A cross sectional in which the cases group included all women with RM attending the outpatient clinic at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital from July 2006 to April 2012 and the controls group included women with no history of RM after matching them with cases for age (case to control ratio was 1:1). The main outcome measures were the prevalence of consanguinity in women with or without recurrent miscarriages. Results: During study period a total of 290 women with RM were seen. Of which, 150 (51.7%) women had unexplained RM. Control group with no history of RM were 300 women. Consanguinity rate among cases (49.5%) %) was less than the controls (52.7 %%). Both first cousin and second cousin marriages were more common in the controls than the cases and it was not statistically significant (p value 0.476, chi squared test). Conclusion: In this study we found that more than half of RM cases were unexplained and there was no significant association between RM and consanguinity.

Background: A headache is the most common cause of patients referred to the doctor. About 40 percent of people are suffering from a headache for at least once a year. Due to it's the high prevalence and its association with cardiovascular diseases, hypertension was considered as a  health problem in industrialized and developing countries. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of blood pressure in patients with a headache referred to the neurological clinic during  2014-2015 in Hamadan.Method: This cross-sectional study was performed to evaluate patients with a headache referred to the neurological clinic. Exclusion criteria included: a headache with a specific cause (a migraine, stroke, chronic daily headache, kidney disease, Diabetes Mellitus, history of heart disease or use of cigarette. The data were entered into the list and then were analyzed by SPSS software through paired T-test and chi-square test. Results: In this study, the 100 patients with a headache (78% females and 22% males) were investigated. The average age of patients was 60.07±13.175 years. The prevalence of stage 1 & 2 hypertension was 85%, and prehypertension prevalence of 7% was reported. Most of the headaches were in the frontal (33 %). Furthermore, the most headaches occur in varied time (70%). There wasn’t a significant correlation between age (P-value=0.698), gender (P-value=0.952), headache and blood pressure. Conclusion: The results obtained from the present study indicated that there was not any significant correlation between a headache and blood pressure, and the prevalence of blood pressure in the patients with a headache was similar to those who do not have headaches. Keywords: Blood Pressure, Hypertension, Headache

BACKGROUND: HLA-B27 is associated with spondyloarthritis, a group of diseases that includes psoriatic arthritis. OBJECTIVES: To describe the HLA-B27 frequency in a group of Brazilian patients with psoriatic arthritis and correlate its presence or absence with their clinical manifestations. METHODS: Cross-sectional study with 44 psoriatic arthritis patients of a Rheumatology clinic. Demographic and social data were recorded, as were skin and joints clinical examination. HLA-B27 was tested. All data were processed descriptively and comparatively by appropriate software. Parametric and non parametric tests were used with 5% statistical significance. RESULTS: HLA-B27 was negative in 32 of the 44 patients (72,7%). Most of them were male, Caucasian, living in Rio de Janeiro, with plaque type psoriasis and average age of 52,9 years. There was statistical significant correlation between positive HLA-B27 and male gender (p=0,004). Negative HLA-B27 had a tendency to correlate with hands and wrists arthritis (p=0,07). There was an inverse significant correlation between HLA values and Schöber's test (p=0,02). CONCLUSION: Although HLA-B27 is negative in most of patients, it is significantly associated to male gender and inversely correlated with Schöber's test.

Hypertension is one of the number one causes of death and disability in the world. Hypertension contributes nearly 9.4 million deaths from cardiovascular disease each year. Hypertension can cause undesirable effects, it needs good handling, one of them is by doing a hypertension diet. To carry out a hypertension diet requires knowledge, lack of knowledge can increase risk factors for hypertension. This study aims to determine the relationship of the level of knowledge about hypertension diet to the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at the Baloi Permai Public Health Center Batam City. This research method is an analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach conducted at the Baloi Permai Public Health Center Batam City 2018. Sampling technique is a total sampling with a sample of 64 people in 2018 determined by inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the study were analyzed with frequency distribution and then tested with the Chi-square test. Based on the results of this study indicate that of the 64 respondents found elderly who have a good level of knowledge are 41 people (64.1%), 48 people (75.0%) have an age range between 60-70 years. 27 people (42.2%) elderly have the last high school education and 40 people (62.5%) have jobs as entrepreneurs. Elderly people who have normal blood pressure are 40 people (62.5%), and those affected by hypertension are 24 people (37.5%). The elderly who have a family history of hypertension is 21 people (32.8%) and those who do not have a history of hypertension are 43 people (67.2%). Chi-Square Test analysis results show the significance value p = 0.009. This number is significant because the p-value is smaller than the significance level (α) ≤ 5% (0.05), so H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship about the level of knowledge about the hypertension diet to the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. From the results of this study it was concluded that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge about the hypertension diet and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at the Baloi Permai Public Health Center Batam City in 2016.

Abstract Background Susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) is a 3D gradient-echo MR technique that is based on blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) induced phase effects between the venous blood and the surrounding brain parenchyma. SW-MR imaging allows for noninvasive visualization of small veins at submillimeter resolution and, therefore, is used to depict venous architecture in brain lesions. The extreme sensitivity of SWI for the detection of neovascularity (venous blood), haemorrhage, and calcification has been an indispensable tool for characterization of the internal architecture of brain tumours. Objectives Is to evaluate the role of Susceptibility weighted imaging in assessment of adults Intra axial brain Neoplasms, and its ability to characterize them into high and low grade lesions in comparison to histopathology which will be used as gold standard. Methods A cross sectional study including 31 patients suspecting intracranial brain neoplasm radiologically and clinically, conducted at Private center, the patients were investigated using Siemens machine Magnetom Skyra 3T, the period was between January 2018 till the end of June 2019 . Results Our study included 31 patients. Including 15 female and 16 male patients, with the patient’s age ranging from 20 to 68 years old with median 48 years old ranging from 35.75 (25% percentile) to 58.75 (75% percentile). Among total cases, there were 8 patients with grade 2 glioma, 10 patients with grade 3 glioma and 6 patients with grade 4 glioma, 2 patients with lymphoma and 5 patients with brain metastasis (1 lung cancer and 4 breast cancer). All the patients were evaluated with MRI including SWI sequence with special comment on the number of the intratumoral susceptibility signal (ITSS), the size of the ITSS, its morphology as well as the ratio of the ITSS to the tumor size, which were then correlated with the patient histopathological results obtained later. The study revealed that the best parameter to accurately grade the tumor is the number of ITSS within the lesion with P value 0.001, followed by the size of the ITSS with P value 0.002 and Pearson Chi-Square value equals 20.6, while the lowest one was the ratio of the ITSS to the tumor size with P value 0.002 Pearson Chi-Square value equals 17.3. Our study showed that the morphology alone was not able to accurately grade the tumor with P value 0.007 ( Not significant) Conclusion SWI using 3T MR system provides quite useful information for preoperative tumor grading. There seems to be a strong correlation between pathological grading and that assessed with SWI.
