AbstractThe objective of this article is to analyze the conceptions of teacher work and teacher training in the official documents of the Institutional Program of Initiatives for Teaching - PIBID, between the second Lula government (2007-2010) and the Dilma governments (2011-2016) . We use as theoretical methodological strategy the approach of the historical materialist dialectic and the qualitative hermeneutic-dialectic approach. The study aims to answer the question: “Is it possible to benefit from education-themed films in teacher training policy?” For this purpose, students of the Faculty of Education were placed in film viewing/interpreting groups and were asked to determine the meanings conveyed in the following films: “Hababam Sınıfı,” “Sınav,” “Elephant,” and “Dead Poets Society.”  The findings obtained through content analysis were themed. Results showed that catchy/effective scenes and cues were grouped under the following main themes: Education, family, society, and adolescence. The most intensely-perceived main theme was the messages on the education system. The fact that education took first place and that this was followed by adolescence, society, and family-themed messages shows that the education phenomenon should be discussed with respect to these concepts.

The article reports a study that aimed to analyze the state of the art of the research produced in Mozambique on initial teacher education (ITE) in its relationship with education policies. A mapping of studies on “initial teacher education in Mozambique” was carried out, through scientific articles and doctoral theses written by Mozambicans in the period between 2012 and 2017, and 20 articles were identified. However, seven articles were excluded because they had not been published in journals or periodicals. Regarding the theses, four were identified. For the identification of articles and theses, the keywords initial training/education, teachers, and Mozambiquewere used. The findings suggest diverse approaches to ITE, with an emphasis on criticizing the diversity of teacher training models, issues of school inclusion and inclusive education. In particular, the intentions of the discourses conveyed in educational policies were not reciprocated in Initial Training Education curricula and in the professionalization of teacher training.

The present contribution examines microteaching as an instructional method and focuses on it as a vehicle of teacher training at the Department of Primary Education of the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece). In particular, 107 students of the department were asked to freely and anonymously submit their views on microteaching in a written text, after having been trained in this method for one semester. The content analysis of the produced texts indicated students’ approbation towards the procedure in question, verifying the findings of other similar studies. Their remarks regarding microteaching strengthen the plea for its incorporation in the curricula of university departments that train prospective teachers.

What prevailing conception of quality guides the training ofteachers? With this central question, this text, in the light of the meanings of quality of education and teaching in dispute in Brazilian educational policies, analyzes the understanding of the quality of teacher education for primary school, as it has been developing in the last decades. It adopts the historical-dialectic perspective as a research reference, and understands that the ideal of teaching quality, emerged from the interest of dominant groups for the reintegration of education in the economic agenda, in institutionalized initiatives, it brings simplistic theoretical-practical interpretations of teacher training policies to make students' right to quality education effective. The text brings arguments about the importance of understanding the quality of teacher training socially referenced by principles of emancipation and construction of an educational practice for all.

The continuous modernization of the education system makes the problems of the quality of teacher training increasingly relevant. Moreover, the measures taken to improve the system of teacher education are largely confined to the introduction of new organizational and managerial mechanisms and practically do not affect the internal content and technological structure of the teacher training process.Modern pedagogical universities are constantly looking for innovative models of training teachers that will be able to solve non-standard social and professional tasks. However, recent studies in this area do not fully take into account the nature of pedagogical activity and conditions of its formation. Thus, the need arises for a special study of the processes and means of updating the content and technologies of teacher training in order to control the level of students’ professional competencies development, as required by educational and professional standards. This means the creation of a special educational system in a pedagogical university, which can provide a harmonious and synchronous mastering by future specialists of both subject knowledge and methods of pedagogical activity. The article provides a theoretical study aimed at identifying key patterns of designing a new content for teacher education, the basis of which is the formation of a future teacher as a subject of his own professional activity. The author describes the experience of using a subject-oriented model of education, implemented at Bashkir State Pedagogical University n.a. M. Akmulla. The effectiveness of this model is confirmed by the high level of students’ mastery of designing methods and constructing the educational process, as well as their positive experience in the implementation of educational activities.
