The paper presents the results of the research of doppelganger topos by means of quantitative analysis, namely, by elementary approach provided by graph theory. The idea to employ the approach belongs to M. Zhuravlev. Seven canonic texts chosen by I. Golovacheva and M. Zhuravlev (E. T. A. Hoffmann’s “Die Doppeltgänger”, E. A. Poe’s “William Wilson”, Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novella “The Double”, Henry James’s “The Jolly Corner”, Joseph Conrad’s “The Secret Sharer” and Vladimir Nabokov’s Despair) are analyzed. Our point of departure was the archetypal attributes of the double highlighted in a seminal work by Otto Rank of 1914. Still, Rankean list of attributes had to be supplemented by a list of other, specifically ‘poetic’, attributes, by a set of diverse invariant motifs found in the above works of fiction, specified by I. Golovacheva and P. de Mauny. Incidence matrixes built for each of the four specific groups of attributes of the double allowed us to view the doppelganger poetics as a whole and each of the chosen seven texts in particular. The quantitative method led to several new qualitative conclusions. For example, it demonstrated that Dostoevsky’s “The Double” and Nabokov’s Despair occupy opposite places in the set of doppelganger texts: Dostoevsky’s novella and Nabokov’s short novel differ much in their comprehensiveness and typicality of doppelganger imagery. Such a result allowed Golovacheva, Zhuravlev and de Mauny to reconsider the notion of the ‘typical’ in literary theory. The incidence matrix method also revealed the similarity of “William Wilson” and Despair. The objectivist comparative analysis and the subsequent close rereading of these two fictions prove, Golovacheva argues, that Poe’s tale is one of the pre-texts of Despair, such intertextuality previously neglected in Nabokov studies.

Anger is a basic human emotion that has a force for constructive or destructive ends. Its expression in any circumstance can be a trigger for a desire to change a prevailing situation. In all cases, anger is a fundamental component of art. This study examines the use of anger in Osborne’s Look Back in Anger and Osofisan’s The Chattering and the Song. Osborne and Osofisan are two writers who are very anxious to change their societies through their art. In spite of differences in their origin (Osborne was a Briton while Osofisan is a Nigerian), they wrote at a time of certain social and political upheavals in their countries. They also share similar concerns and attitudes towards art. My focus in this paper is on the early plays of Osborne and Osofisan where anger is strongest and where their artistic triumph is most poignant. Working within the formalist approach, the paper reveals that in Osborne and Osofisan, extreme anger is both material and style and is what marks their art out. The reification by the intellect provides a potent instrument for investigating society. Anger becomes the point of departure for their art, it is not mere hysterics but a cerebral one and it is the motivating force for their writings.

Crataegi folium have been used as medicinal and food materials worldwide due to its pharmacological activities. Although the leaves of Crataegus songorica (CS), Crataegus altaica (CA) and Crataegus kansuensis (CK) have rich resources in Xinjiang, China, they can not provide insights into edible and medicinal aspects. Few reports are available on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of flavonoids compounds of their leaves. Therefore, it is necessary to develop efficient methods to determine qualitative and quantitative flavonoids compounds in leaves of CS, CA and CK. In the study, 28 unique compounds were identified in CS versus CK by qualitative analysis. The validated quantitative method was employed to determine the content of eight flavonoids of the leaves of CS, CA and CK within 6 min. The total content of eight flavonoids was 7.8–15.1 mg/g, 0.1–9.1 mg/g and 4.8–10.7 mg/g in the leaves of CS, CA and CK respectively. Besides, the best harvesting periods of the three species were from 17th to 26th September for CS, from 30th September to 15th October for CA and CK. The validated and time-saving method was successfully implemented for the analysis of the content of eight flavonoids compounds in CS, CA and CK for the first time.

In most realistic situations, the theory and method of multi-attribute decision-making have been widely used in different fields, such as engineering, economy, management, military, and others. Although many studies in some extended fuzzy contexts have been explored with multi-attribute decision-making, it is widely recognized that single-valued neutrosophic sets can describe incomplete, indeterminate and inconsistent information more easier. In this paper, aiming at addressing multi-attribute decision-making problems with single-valued neutrosophic information, related models and multi-attribute decision-making approaches based on the fuzzy graph theory are studied. In specific, the notion of single-valued neutrosophic sets and graphs is firstly introduced together with several common operational laws. Then a multi-attribute decision making method based on single-valued neutrosophic graphs is established. Finally, an illustrative example and a comparative analysis are conducted to verify the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method.

Bandung is a popular tourist destination in Indonesia and a gateway for tourists who visit destinations around greater Bandung areas. Currently, Bandung is also known as a culinary, shopping, and nature tourism destination. Past studies have measured the image of Bandung as a tourist destination. However, the measurements were done partially due to the use of quantitative method only. Thus, the results were not comprehensive. To resolve the drawbacks of the previous studies, this study used both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected from 430 domestic tourists by ways of structured and unstructured interviews in 20 different destinations in Bandung and the surrounding. Data were processed by descriptive statistical methods, factor analysis and content analysis. The results of quantitative analysis show that, in term of functional-attribute, Bandung was positively perceived as a destination characterized with natural scenic beauty, many interesting places, and various exotic foods. In terms of the psychological-attribute, Bandung was perceived as the right place for shopping and culinary tourism. The results of qualitative analysis indicate that, functionally, Bandung was a destination with natural scenic beauty, pleasant weather and provide various exotic foods. Psychologically, the tourists experienced calm and tranquil atmosphere, happiness, and comfort.

The purpose of this study is (i) identifying the non-financial feasibility of duck and duck cracker making business in terms of market, technical aspects and management aspects (ii) analyzing and (iii) comparing the financial feasibility of making duck and duck crackers in Central Amuntai District. The research was carried out on the "Dhandy" duck jerky in Antasari Village and "Mama Irfan" duck crackers in Kota Raden Hulu Village, Amuntai Tengah District, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency in May - August 2013. The research method used was case studies and data collection with interviews. Qualitative analysis of market, technical and management aspects is processed descriptively. Quantitative analysis uses investment criteria, namely analysis of present net value / NPV, return on investment / IRR, Net B / C ratio and return period of investment, the results of the two analyzes are followed by comparative analysis. The results of the non-financial aspects showed that the "Dhandy" jerky duck and "Mama Irfan" duck crackers viewed from the market or technical aspects were worth the effort. However, viewed from the management aspect, the two businesses are not feasible because they are still in the scale of small businesses, family efforts and implementation are still traditional. The financial aspect of the "Dhandy" duck jerky business is worth showing the NPV value of Rp.5,950,594, - the IRR of 12.92%, net B / C of 1.22 and the pay back period of 4,5024 years. Whereas the "Mama Irfan" duck cracker business is also worthy of the NPV value of Rp. 31,874,247, -, the IRR is 51.93%, net B / C is 2.71 and the pay back period is 2.4716 years. The effect of removal of the apical ectodermal ridge from the early chick limb-bud is re-examined using a new quantitative method of analysis of results. The concept of the proximo-distal sequence of laying down of parts is confirmed and evidence is presented thatthis proceeds as a continuous process, there being a gradual change in the level specified from one cell to another at a more distal level. The results are then interpreted in terms of the ‘progress zone’ model to show that they are both consistent with the model and that they provide an assay for one of its parameters, the rate of change of positional value with time at the tip.

The book opens with analysis of Yanick Lahens’ reflection on the disastrous convergence of geological and political time in the Haitian earthquake of 2010. Lahens contemplates the imbrication of geological, political, and social fault lines to complicate the exceptional image of Haiti as a site of disaster. The introduction considers Lahens’ understanding of fault lines, below and above ground, in light of Rob Nixon’s critique of the slow violence of environmental injustice and Michel Serres’ idea of a natural contract with the planet. It brings together Lahens, Nixon, and Serres to illustrate the different conceptions of time and space that inform the ecological thought of a Haitian writer, an American critic, and a French philosopher. Taking this comparative analysis as its point of departure, the introduction begins to develop a theory of an eco-archive as an ethical and imaginative writing on the environment. It merges ecocriticism with the historical awareness of Haitian studies to argue that Lahens and other Haitian writers challenge the neocolonial and neoliberal political economies that feed the dominant narratives of the Anthropocene.

In this tribute study of the work of the prestigious Venezuelan philologist, his individualistic doctrine on syllabic quantity is analyzed, together with his conception of the verse-line as a rhythmic unit marked off by an end-pause. A close comparative analysis is undertaken with the ideas on meter of a range of nineteenth and twentieth-century authors, while using as a point of departure those who belong to the period spanning the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries.
