In this introductory paper we aim to critically analyze a possible research design on the correlation between curiosity and intrinsic motivation in students. In this sense, the background of the problem will be analyzed in an introduction that will emphasize the importance of this possible correlation in the current school context dominated by the new mental organization of digital students. Then they will be analyzed among the fundamental elements of a research. First of all, the choice of appropriate research tools, which will combine qualitative and quantitative research. Secondly, it is a discussion about the purposes of researching the mentioned correlation, the basic questions, the objectives, the sample and, finally, about the ways of analyzing the data and the necessary conclusions.

The purpose of this article is to describe and analyse complex and important issues surrounding the new scenario that has emerged after compulsory English has been introduced from class-1 in Pakistan. This paper attempts to explore these vital issues in the light of TEYL principles. A literature review of the problem is presented enumerating the TEYL principles to provide a proper theoretical framework to administer research tools for collection of relevant data. Both qualitative and quantitative research tools have been administered viz., interviews, observations, and survey on the target population. In order to highlight the advantages of starting English early in Pakistan and get the optimum benefits from this change, this paper provides some suggestions and recommendations. We must train and prepare the teachers and the schools so that they may cope with the new scenario, in a professional and planned way. This paper mainly focuses on highlighting the problems emerging in the new scenario to the forefront. Limited scope does not allow the researcher to provide practical solutions to the problem at length. It does, however, open areas of research for the future researches and researchers. This paper tends to engage the teachers, administrators, policy makers to focus on the complexities of TEYL to make the change in the policy a real success. The culture of the classrooms, teaching and learning could be transformed towards betterment by funding the researchers to focus on this issue. The hiring, training and evaluation of school instructors could also be impacted in this way. The paper begins with an overview of previous researches bringing out the TEYL principles on the forefront focusing on the definitions, explanations and argumentation on this theme. It then focuses on the target population viz., the teachers and students to find out the ground realities, opinions, perceptions, apprehensions and suggestions, and then moves on to give recommendations.

Recently, a debate has arisen around what can be called the “indistinguishability thesis,” that is, the claim that it is impossible to distinguish between qualitative and quantitative research. In contrast, this article argues that the inability to define simple, sharp boundaries around qualitative and quantitative research does not eliminate the value of this distinction; instead, this difference can be understood in terms of “family resemblances.” Furthermore, it is important to recognize that the separation between qualitative and quantitative research underlies the different strengths of different methods, which is a central principle in mixed methods research design. Ultimately, we must learn to tolerate the blurry boundaries between qualitative and quantitative research, while appreciating the value this distinction has for mixed methods research.

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship among Narcissism, personality traits and conspicuous consumption of brands in youth. This used quantitative research design with a sample consisting of 50 Men and 50 Women. The age ranged between 18 – 22 years. A purposive sampling technique was used to select participants. The findings revealed that there was a relationship among conspicuous consumption and traits of personality. It was also uncovered that there are gender differences in conspicuous consumption of brands, narcissism and personality traits. Further it was concluded that narcissism is positively associated with conspicuous consumption of brands. Narcissism was likely to be a positive predictor of conspicuous consumption of brands and personality traits are likely to be a predictor of conspicuous consumption of brands.

Some in the social sciences argue that the same logic applies to both qualitative and quantitative research methods. This book demonstrates that these two paradigms constitute different cultures, each internally coherent yet marked by contrasting norms, practices, and toolkits. The book identifies and discusses major differences between these two traditions that touch nearly every aspect of social science research, including design, goals, causal effects and models, concepts and measurement, data analysis, and case selection. Although focused on the differences between qualitative and quantitative research, the book also seeks to promote toleration, exchange, and learning by enabling scholars to think beyond their own culture and see an alternative scientific worldview. The book is written in an easily accessible style and features a host of real-world examples to illustrate methodological points.

This book is an introduction to quantitative research design and data analysis presented in the context of music education scholarship. The book aims for readers to come away with a familiarity of prototypical research design possibilities as well as a fundamental understanding of data analysis techniques necessary for carrying out scientific inquiry. The book includes examples that demonstrate how the methodological and statistical concepts presented throughout can be applied to pertinent issues in music education. For the majority of Part I, the strategy is to present traditional design categories side by side with explanations of general analytical approaches for dealing with data yielded from each respective design type. Part II consists of chapters devoted to methodological and analytical approaches that have become common in related fields (e.g., psychology, sociology, general education research, educational policy) but are as yet not frequently exploited by music education researchers. Ultimately, this work is motivated by a desire to help scholars acquire the means to actualize their research curiosities and to contribute to the advancement of rigor in music education research throughout the profession at large.
