Abstract. In this study, we have analysed the optical and SAR images both to detect the collapsed building automatically with the use of the cloud-based programming environment Google Colab Cloud environment. We have used the existing digital map of buildings which were provided by Here Maps Company, for each building feature, the histograms were generated both for optical and SAR images, the unmatched histograms on the optical image were mainly the destroyed buildings and newly established tent areas for the people who lost their homes. In the method, the most recent (before and after) optical images of the earthquake zone are taken. Some pre-processing steps were performed including principal component analysis, K-Means clustering. Then, the statistical values of area overlap with the building vectors are calculated and the threshold values are determined. SAR images are used to refine the results. he used optical satellite images are Worldview images with 30 cm GSD, and for SAR images, Sentinel 1 C band and ICEYE X band SAR images are used. Sentinel 1 and ICEYE images are provided from ESA.

<p>As a growing city, Batam Islands has an immense potential to become one of the strategic positions in Southeast Asia. However, as the city developed, it also followed with the deformation and potential areas which has prone to shallow landslides. Using 32 Sentinel-1A Satellite Images Data and 17 years of Optical images data, analysis of time series is conducted using Persistent Scattered Interferometry method and mapped for landslide events in the Islands. As a result, several regions impacted 4 – 10 mm/year of velocity deformation in the center part of the island and several locations simulated to be prone to shallow landslide. So, by coupling method of SAR data and optical images, has giving prominent possibility for detecting and predicting hazard potential in this island.</p>

A Local Innovation Systems (LIS) was establish in Bakustulama Village of Esat Nusa Tenggara Province in Indonesia in 2013 and has serve the local people in their productive activity since. This paper was an evaluation of how this LIS play the role on empowering the local peole. The study involved 2 farmer groups to be involved in developing LIS then applied it in their productive activities. Since the implementation LIS has served the two farmer groups in increasing their economic life (income received). LIS was attached to the local agricultural extension office as an institution that consists of farmer groups, local extension workers, staffs from Local Government Offices (Agricultural-Fisheries and Plantation Offices, Local Animal Husbandry Offices, Local Forestry Offices, Sub-District & Village Offices)and supported by local researchers. The LIS as institutions running well to served the need of the people by establishing networks with other institutions and reserchers from several intitutions available in the area. A chnge in policy from Central Government in 2016 had change the existency of LIS as institution, however the network still function and the people still can benefitted from it, which was shown from the evaluation conducte in 2019. An index number was applied here to measure the change occurs in the two farmer groups before and after the implementation of LIS. Significant changes were occurs in the two farmer groups, they economic life were changes in better way, which is why they still maintaining the network from LIS although the institution was not exist anymore. Here, the LIS was transform into a systems that was run by farmer groups which still maintain the network that was already established.

Velocity dictates the destructive potential of a landslide. A combination of synthetic aperture radar (SAR), optical, and GPS data were used to maximize spatial and temporal coverage to monitor continuously-moving portions of the Portuguese Bend landslide complex on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Southern California. Forty SAR images from the COSMO-SkyMed satellite, acquired between 19 July 2012 and 27 September 2014, were processed using Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI). Eight optical images from the WorldView-2 satellite, acquired between 20 February 2011 and 16 February 2016, were processed using the Co-registration of Optically Sensed Images and Correlation (COSI-Corr) technique. Displacement measurements were taken at GPS monuments between September 2007 and May 2017. Incremental and average deformations across the landslide complex were measured using all three techniques. Velocity measured within the landslide complex ranges from slow (> 1.6 m/year) to extremely slow (< 16 mm/year). COSI-Corr and GPS provide detailed coverage of m/year-scale deformation while PSI can measure extremely slow deformation rates (mm/year-scale), which COSI-Corr and GPS cannot do reliably. This case study demonstrates the applicability of SAR, optical, and GPS data synthesis as a complimentary approach to repeat field monitoring and mapping to changes in landslide activity through time.

The evaluation of buildings damage following disasters from natural hazards is a crucial step in determining the extent of the damage and measuring renovation needs. In this study, a combination of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and light detection and ranging (LIDAR) data before and after the earthquake were used to assess the damage to buildings caused by the Kumamoto earthquake. For damage assessment, three variables including elevation difference (ELD) and texture difference (TD) in pre- and post-event LIDAR images and coherence difference (CD) in SAR images before and after the event were considered and their results were extracted. Machine learning algorithms including random forest (RDF) and the support vector machine (SVM) were used to classify and predict the rate of damage. The results showed that ELD parameter played a key role in identifying the damaged buildings. The SVM algorithm using the ELD parameter and considering three damage rates, including D0 and D1 (Negligible to slight damages), D2, D3 and D4 (Moderate to Heavy damages) and D5 and D6 (Collapsed buildings) provided an overall accuracy of about 87.1%. In addition, for four damage rates, the overall accuracy was about 78.1%.

In order to evaluate the capability of building damage detection from optical satellite images, a procedure for digital image analysis is examined and applied to images captured before and after the 2006 Central Java, Indonesia, earthquake. In the image analysis, the pixels of the images are classified into vegetation, bare ground, and built-up areas. The damage areas are detected by the differential of the digital numbers in the built-up areas. The estimated damage distribution is validated by comparing it with the GIS data on building damage obtained from a field survey. The results show that the severely damaged areas were well detected by the analysis. In the densely vegetated areas, however, the damage was underestimated because many of the buildings were obscured by trees. For assessing quantitative damage information, the relationship between the number of collapsed buildings and the areas detected by the image analysis is evaluated.

As one of the largest whale shark attractions in Indonesia, Labuan Jambu Village still lacks the attention of academics and government in terms of research and development. As a result, it's worth taking a closer look at the people of Labuan Jambu Village's well-being before and after the Whale Shark tourism activities. The authors found that the economic benefits of tourism activities have not had a significant and unequal effect on the villagers. Before the tourism industry existed, the villagers of Labuan Jambu understood the importance of education. Aside from that, the most important problem that Labuan Jambu Village has yet to resolve is waste management. In order to create sustainable tourism in Labuan Jambu Village, various stakeholders must collaborate

The Financial Master Plan (2001- 2010) aims to enhance the capacity of banking industry so that higher effic iency and productivity can be reaped in the future. This study seeks to determine the impact of merger on the efficiency and productivity ofcommercial banks in Malaysia for the period 1995 until 2005. The study uses a non-parametric approach, nam ely DEA (data envelopment analysis?) to estimate the efficiency scores and to construct the Malmquist productivity index. To enable this estimation, three bank inputs and outputs are used. Amongst the findings are those banks exhibit higher efficiency score after the merger and thefo reign banks are more efficient than the local banks. Productivity of the banks is calculated in both periods, before and after the merger: The results show that, it is the local banks that have improved the most after the merger. The main source of productivity is technical change or innovation. The findings support the existing policy of having larger domestic banks in term of size.
