With Industry 4.0 and now 5.0 technologies, the entire globe is embracing these changes. Artificial intelligence-powered systems have immense potential to eliminate international geographical barriers and prove to influence global trade worldwide. The present study highlights how AI increases productivity, economic development, and provides international trade with new horizons. The global value chains, prediction of future trends like changes in consumer demand, risk management, supply chain links are some of the key applications of AI in the sector. AI empowers international trade negotiations to analyze economic trajectories of negotiating partners, adjustments of trade barriers at different rates and scenarios. The chapter will cover the support of AI to access global trade data, its response to diverse challenges, international expansions through digital platforms, support in translations, mechanism of demand prediction, automation of administration with increased efficiency and utility, smart manufacturing, barriers, and influences.

AbstractThere are significant challenges facing the medical tourism industry: privacy and transparency concerns, lack of access to centralized medical records, fraudulent practices, opportunistic behavior of intermediaries, foreign currency risks, and contractual/legal issues. While blockchain technology has immense potential to address the industry’s inherent challenges and inefficiencies, the current understanding of blockchain application in medical tourism is fragmented. Through a pragmatic review of the literature, this study explores the blockchain applications and benefits for medical tourists across the stages of the medical tourism value chain, and in the process, proposes a meaningful and managerially relevant blockchain framework for medical tourism. The findings and the proposed novel framework to guide policy interventions and support mechanisms to take advantage of the full opportunities of blockchain in medical tourism.

A microorganism dwelling in severe environmental conditions is termed an extremophile. These unfavorable environmental conditions include high salinity, toxin compounds, heavy metals, unfavorable temperature, and extremely acidic and alkaline pH. Microorganisms belonging to prokaryotes include true bacteria and archaea bacteria which prevail in harsh environments. In recent years, extremophilic, basically, archaea bacteria have been reported for their immense potential application in the bioremediation process. Bioremediation is a technique that utilizes microorganisms for the decomposition of organic and inorganic pollutants; anthropogenic activities are the basic cause of soil pollution, water pollution, and air pollution globally. Extremophiles are capable of producing enzymes that are thermolabile and can function normally even in extreme conditions. These enzymes and proteins can be utilized in the bioremediation process under extreme pH, heavy metal stress, and unfavorable temperature conditions. In this chapter, the role of extremophiles in bioremediation is discussed.

India is a country of growing population and agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for about 58 per cent of Indians population. The Indian food industry is poised for huge growth, increasing its contribution to world food trade every year due to its immense potential for value addition, particularly within the food processing industry. Government of India is giving more priority for welfare of the farmers. In this regard it is implementing several welfare schemes to provide financial support to farmers. Various schemes were introduced by the government, but the benefits of these schemes do not reach to the common people in our case farmers due to corruption happening at the middleware. Hence there is need of a reliable, authorized and secured system to maintain and manage these transactional records. This is where blockchain comes into picture. One of the aims of our system is to ensure that the amount transferred by the authority to a particular farmer, reaches to him/her without any corruption and system manipulation using the features of blockchain and cryptography.

Phytochemicals have been attributed beneficial health properties, mainly their anticancer potential. Cancer treatment seeks to shrink the tumor and kill cancer cells; however, the conventional treatment available frequently fails due to the emergence of drug-resistant cell lines. Plant-derived compounds have been studied for their potential anticancer effects or as adjuvant drug to conventional treatment. However, some of the physicochemical properties and stability characteristics of the phytocompounds generate biopharmaceuticals difficulties that limit their efficacy and clinical applications in oncology. In this sense, nanomedicine offers an alternative for the development of biocompatible, biodegradable, safe, and efficacy phytoformulations. Nanostructured delivery systems show immense potential in the bioavailability of phytodrugs by providing better alternatives to conventional dosage forms, through improving physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties of the phytocompounds and along with it to enhance the therapeutic efficacy.

Central Asian (CA) countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) are assumed to be one of the most attractive tourist destinations since this particular geographical location holds immense potential in tourism products. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the flourishing tourism sector of these countries has been immensely affected. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of Central Asian tourists' risk attitudes toward traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic through consideration of sociodemographic characteristics. The research was conducted during January through April 2021 based on a sample of 966 respondents via an online questionnaire. In the survey, risks are divided into four main categories: health, psychological, financial and travel destination. Nominal regression was used to identify the way in which risk perception affected travel intentions during COVID-19 and the research findings indicate that Central Asian tourists’ risk perception has done so. Hygiene, disinfection and a reliable health system in destinations (21%) will be leading factors in future travel.

The relevance of development studies has come under intense scrutiny with increasing calls for development education to decolonize its materials, pedagogies, and discursive practices. This article draws on a short-term study tour to India, where co-building a mud house with a tribal community and local university became a creative, intercultural site, encouraging reflexivity and learning through embodied insights. Such learnings “from” and “with” knowledges negated by Western modernity are in essence decolonial pedagogies, enabling students to critically examine their own preconceived ideas of development, while building skills to meaningfully navigate the contested contemporary field. Study tours, we argue, have immense potential toward decolonizing development education.

Affective computing (also referred to as artificial emotion intelligence or emotion AI) is the study and development of systems and devices that can recognize, interpret, process, and simulate emotion or other affective phenomena. With the rapid growth in the aging population around the world, affective computing has immense potential to benefit the treatment and care of late-life mood and cognitive disorders. For late-life depression, affective computing ranging from vocal biomarkers to facial expressions to social media behavioral analysis can be used to address inadequacies of current screening and diagnostic approaches, mitigate loneliness and isolation, provide more personalized treatment approaches, and detect risk of suicide. Similarly, for Alzheimer's disease, eye movement analysis, vocal biomarkers, and driving and behavior can provide objective biomarkers for early identification and monitoring, allow more comprehensive understanding of daily life and disease fluctuations, and facilitate an understanding of behavioral and psychological symptoms such as agitation. To optimize the utility of affective computing while mitigating potential risks and ensure responsible development, ethical development of affective computing applications for late-life mood and cognitive disorders is needed.
