Segmentation plays an important role in separating data from medicinal images and also helps in clinical findings. Segmentation is the way toward apportioning the image into different regions. MRI is utilized to extract images of delicate tissues of human body. It is utilized in analyzing the human organs without the requirement of surgery. For the most part MRI images contain a lot of noise caused by operator performance, equipment and the environment, which prompts genuine errors. MRI is a productive way in giving data in regards to the area of tumors and even the volume. The noise present in the MRI image can be evacuated by utilizing different de-noising procedures whichever is most appropriate method depending on the type of image obtained and afterward can be handled by any of the segmentation techniques. The noise in MRI images might be because of field strength, RF pulses, RF coil, voxel volume, or receiver bandwidth. In our proposed paper a review of different noise handling and filtering mechanism is conducted in order to enhance the quality of image. In this paper we modify the adaptive median filter by applying redundancy handling mechanism and enhance the contrast of image by applying histogram equivalence method.

AbstractThis paper describes outcomes of the 2019 Cryo-EM Model Challenge. The goals were to (1) assess the quality of models that can be produced from cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) maps using current modeling software, (2) evaluate reproducibility of modeling results from different software developers and users and (3) compare performance of current metrics used for model evaluation, particularly Fit-to-Map metrics, with focus on near-atomic resolution. Our findings demonstrate the relatively high accuracy and reproducibility of cryo-EM models derived by 13 participating teams from four benchmark maps, including three forming a resolution series (1.8 to 3.1 Å). The results permit specific recommendations to be made about validating near-atomic cryo-EM structures both in the context of individual experiments and structure data archives such as the Protein Data Bank. We recommend the adoption of multiple scoring parameters to provide full and objective annotation and assessment of the model, reflective of the observed cryo-EM map density.

Introduction: Pancreatic injury is a rare case, caused by blunt or sharp trauma. Difficulty in making diagnose on pancreatic trauma cases are associated with high mortality, and the treatment can be either operative or conservatively. However, It is still unclear which treatment is more favorable.

Case: We present 2 cases of Grade III pancreatic injury with stable hemodynamic who suffered bicycle accident. First case, 12-year-old boy complaining severe pain on the upper left abdomen (VAS 9-10) and get worsening by time, with vomiting. The patient underwent distal Pancreatectomy-Splenectomy. Second case, 8-year-old boy complaining of pain on the upper left abdomen (VAS 6-7) without extension on whole abdominal region with vomiting and fever. The patient was treated conservatively. In both cases, patient was discharged with improvement. However, about 3 months later patients who were treated conservatively developed into a pseudocyst.

Conclusion: The selection of management in grade III pancreatic injury can be operative or conservative depending on clinical findings such as hemodynamic condition and the quality of abdominal pain. But the occurrence of pseudocysts pancreas is another surgical challenge.

Preliminary diagnosing of MRI images from the hospital cannot be relied on because of the chances of occurrence of artifacts resulting in degraded quality of image, while others may be confused with pathology. Obtained MRI image usually contains limited artifacts. It becomes complex one for doctors in analyzing them. By increasing the contrast of an image, it will be easy to analyze. In order to find the tumor part efficiently MRI brain image should be enhanced properly. The image enhancement methods mainly improve the visual appearance of MRI images. The goal of denoising is to remove the noise, which may corrupt an image during its acquisition or transmission, while retaining its quality. In this paper effectiveness of seven denoising algorithms viz. median filter, wiener filter, wavelet filter, wavelet based wiener, NLM, wavelet based NLM, proposed wavelet based weighted median filter(WMF) using MRI images in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise is compared. The experimental results are analyzed in terms of various image quality metrics.

Objectives. Bitewing radiographs are mainly used to confirm clinical findings in caries diagnostics. The objective here was to investigate the quality of bitewing radiographs after short brush-up training and additional findings besides caries in a low-caries population. Methods. The material of this cross-sectional study comprised 377 pairs of bitewing radiographs of 19- to 20-year-olds taken by dentists. Radiography was considered indicated if one dentinal caries lesion was present on clinical examination. A senior oral radiologist evaluated quality and diagnosed the findings afterwards unaware of clinical status. The association between variables was analysed using cross tabulation and chi-squared testing. Results. Almost half of the images were of compromised quality (44.1%). Dentinal caries lesions were detected in 82.3% and enamel lesions in 73.5% of the subjects. On average, the subjects had 1.7 (SD 0.52) dentinal lesions. Fillings were found in 81.8%, fractures/cracks in 11.7%, and attrition in 7.4% of the subjects. Signs of excessive bite force were recorded in 19.4%, whereas marginal bone loss was detected in 6.4%. No significant correlation was detected between fractures, attrition, and excessive bite forces. Conclusions. Effort must be taken to ensure high quality of bitewing radiographs. In addition to caries detection, bitewing radiographs offer additional value, such as detecting excessive bite forces, tooth wear, and marginal bone loss among young adults.

3D ultrasound (US) is a convenient tool for guiding the resection of low-grade gliomas, seemingly without deterioration in patients’ quality of life. This article offers an update of the intraoperative workflow and the general principles behind the 3D US acquisition of high-quality images. The authors also provide case examples illustrating the technique in two small mesial temporal lobe lesions and in one insular glioma. Due to the ease of acquiring new images for navigation, the operations can be guided by updated image volumes throughout the entire course of surgery. The high accuracy offered by 3D US systems, based on nearly real-time images, allows for precise and safe resections. This is especially useful when an operation is performed through very narrow transcortical corridors.

Various types of image processing that can be done by computers, such as improving image quality is one of the fields that is quite popular until now. Improving the quality of an image is necessary so that someone can observe the image clearly and in detail without any disturbance. An image can experience major disturbances or errors in an image such as the image of the screenshot is used as a sample. The results of the image from the screenshot have the smallest sharpness and smoothness of the image, so to get a better image is usually done enlargement of the image. After the screenshot results are obtained then, the next process is cropping the image and the image looks like there are disturbances such as visible blur and cracked. To get an enlarged image (Zooming image) by adding new pixels or points. This is done by the super resolution method, super resolution has three stages of completion, first Registration, Interpolation, and Reconstruction. For magnification done by linear interpolation and reconstruction using a median filter for image refinement. This method is expected to be able to solve the problem of improving image quality in image enlargement applications. This study discusses that the process carried out to implement image enlargement based on the super resolution method is then built by using R2013a matlab as an editor to edit programs

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease with an important inflammatory compound which associates a worldwide prevalence of 0.5% to 8.5%. The involvement of the genital region can be associated with both plaque psoriasis and inverse psoriasis and survey-based studies indicate that up to 45.5% of patients present lesions of genital psoriasis. Genital psoriasis represents a frequent encounter of psoriasis which is often overlooked and which associates a significant impact on their quality of life, measured by Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) scores which are twice as high as those of psoriatic patients without genital involvement. Recognising the specific clinical findings represents an important step in establishing the diagnosis and case management. Classical therapeutic options such as topical steroids or modern treatments such as ixekizumab represent important tools in fighting this affliction and regaining the patient’s quality of life. This review aims to emphasize the up-to-date clinical variants of genital psoriasis, the consequences on the quality of life of patients and to present the newest therapeutic options.

Introduction: Issues related to endodontic treatment are intrinsically linked to the prevention and total control of pulp and periapical infections. The presence of microorganisms is not limited to the endodontic but is also present in the periradicular regions, characterized by an apical biofilm that is strongly adhered to the surface. In this context of decontamination of root and periapical canals, ozone has been highlighted as an important sanitizer. Objective: To demonstrate the main experimental and clinical findings of the use of ozone therapy alone and in association with conventional treatments as an antiseptic in the treatment of root canals. Methods: The research was carried out from May 2021 to June 2021 and developed based on Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo, and Google Scholar, following the Systematic Review-PRISMA rules. The quality of the studies was based on the GRADE instrument and the risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results: There is moderate evidence to provide important preliminary information about ozone therapy. As for reducing the microbial load for patients undergoing root canal treatment, ozone therapy has inferior results when compared to conventional chemomechanical techniques using NaOCl. The joint action of these treatments proved to be quite effective. Conclusion: Ozone therapy is proving to be a useful new treatment modality that offers great benefits to patients. The strong antimicrobial power of ozone, together with its ability to stimulate the circulatory system and modulate the immune response, makes it a corrective agent of choice in the treatment of various oral infectious diseases. More research is needed to help with its reproducibility, its use should be indicated by the dentist in clinical practice.
