This book is a dispassionate re-examination of the “laws and codes” that are presented as “Islamic” or “shari’i” in order to empower common Muslims to reconnect with the Qur’an and the Prophetic legacy more directly. In that context, it highlights how the Muslim understanding of the Qur’an and the Prophetic legacy has been clouded by the “interpretive constructs emanating from fallible humans” (p. viii). Instead, the author calls for the implementation of a value-oriented approach taken from the Qur’an and the life of the Prophet Muhammad when determining Muslim understanding of the shari’ah and daily life.

<em>Religious freedom in Indonesia is based on the abundant presence of Godliness that is the religious values embraced in Indonesia. The religions are Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism mentioned in the Presidential Decree No. 1 of 1965 on the defamation/blasphemy, and stipulation of Article 156a to become a part of Article 156 Criminal Code. The essence of the blasphemy law is to realize a harmonious religious life. This is in line with the Islamic law that is universal and dynamic. Islam does not deny the diversity of the universe, diversity of knowledge, diversity of tribes and cultures, and diversity of religions and beliefs. Because the messenger of the Prophet was to improve the morality of his followers by carrying the value of Rahmatan lil-aalamiin (a blessing for the universe). In this study, the values of Islamic law implicit in Article 156a of the Criminal Code were examined by applying a normative method as well as religious text approach as a framework for argumentation. In addition to applying a policy-oriented approach, this research also applied a value-oriented approach. Because the position of Islamic law is one source of material law as well as very relevant to the pluralistic style of Indonesian society.</em>

The industry has a relevant spatial and socioeconomic importance in most of the Spanish cities and nowadays is one of the main urban economic activities. However, in many situations, and despite recent advances in the past two decades, industrial heritage is a value that is still not sufficiently widespread in society. The factories, their activity, and their historical evolution are often disconnected and isolated from the daily life of the cities, being quite an unknown aspect for most of the citizens. This contribution presents the result of various experiences of knowledge transmission on the heritage value of industry, through the use of games and storytelling technique as an educational tool and the combination of different technologies (3D modelling, videomapping, virtual reality) as useful tools to spread the explanation of this phenomenon.

Fatwa is an explanation on Islamic ruling, which is needed by local society in facing new issues, as a solution in accordance with Shariah. It also plays a vital role to clarify the confusions and misunderstandings that happen in Muslim community. The solutions offered by Fatwa would satisfy the curiosity and internal feeling of Muslim in their daily life. This article will discuss the concept of fatwa and the challenges of its enforcement according to ‘The Administration of Islamic Law (Federal Territory) Act’. Besides, the writer would also identify the relevant authority body which has been given power by the aforementioned Act to enforce the issued fatwa. The article would try to reveal some problems and challenges in enforcing fatwa. Based on writer’s observation, the standard of fatwa enforcement in Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur is still below the normal level as it should to be. The number of officer in the Enforcement Division of Islamic Department is inadequate to make the fatwa as effective law. Hopefully, this article would give a clear picture to Muslim community on the reality of Fatwa enforcement in Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Aceh Province is a special area. Acts No. 11 of 2006 concerning theGovernment of Aceh provides freedom in terms of managing the government, especially regarding the implementation of Islamic law in Aceh. Islamic Shari’a isnot only understood as a rule that regulates education, but also about regulation ingovernment management in Aceh. One part of the government is about compilingregional spending in Aceh. This research is focused on budgeting which will becontextualized with Acehnese values, namely the local value of implementingIslamic law in Aceh. Priority indicators for a budget arrangement so that theyfulfill the requirements as ideal budgets according to Islam (Islamic budget ideal). In terms of substance, this research is classified into qualitative research, whichfocuses on the depth and sharpness of the study. So if more quantitative researchis on a broad, broad framework, the qualitative study is digging, swooping, anddeep. Islamic budgeting is a value that in this context wants to be included in thebudget in South Aceh. Based on the results of the study it was found that in terms ofthe determination of post-expenditure it is possible to include the values of IslamicShari’a. In this case the post expenditure is based on maqasid as-Syari’iyah. Interms of revenue, only zakat, shadaqah, and infaq are possible to be contextualized. As for ‘usyr, rikaz, etc., it is not possible because regional revenues from the fiscalside are regulated so rigid in state regulations

The aim of this article is to describe the basic parameters of a value-oriented approach to assessing the education results as a possible basis for the methodology for assessment of the educational work in the general system of education. The key methods we used were content analysis of text sources, cross-reference analysis, comparative analysis, and humanitarian examination of juristic documents. The interpretation of education as a unity of teaching and upbringing for the state as a key subject of education, which forms the requirements for the results and organization of the educational process, sets the task of assessing personal, subject and metasubject educational results. The philosophy of education faces a challenge regarding the determination of the expediency of assessing educational results, the conceptual basis of assessment, fixing the orientation of assessment on the conditions of educational organzations' activities, and (or) on the results achieved by students. A practical managerial task is to develop an attitude towards using formalized procedures and methods for assessing educational results. The article proposes a value-oriented approach to assessing the educational work in the general education system of the Russian Federation based on an analysis of key regulatory documents of the Russian education system, the interpretation of upbringing as a process of forming value-semantic attitudes. The approach is based on identifying three main groups of value orientations to build a possible system of indicators that fix educational results: "Value orientations related to life, health and safety"; "Value orientations of social interaction"; "Value orientations of personal development". Values are an essential element in regulating human behavior, which guides the process of defining goals and choosing the means to achieve them. Values acquire a functional character in value orientations and can serve as indicators of education results at the level of students as a collective subject. It seems impossible to single out the contribution of individual actors to the output of education and to avoid contradictions between the value-semantic attitudes that exist in the space of modern culture. For the education system, the subject of assessing the quality of upbringing as a purposeful process can be both the quality of the organization of upbringing work and the outcomes of upbringing efforts. The results of education as a manifestation of value orientations in the activities of students can be considered based on quantitative and qualitative indicators, which is significant for making managerial decisions at different levels.

Rumour has been part of collective human life for centuries. Communities deal with anxiety and make sense of the unknowable by mixing apprehensions with what is already known to them. With modernity, and in line with studies on a range of social phenomena, there have been efforts to develop a science on rumour. Most of these studies deal with rumour at the propositional level, such that the rumouring or rumour-rebutting subject invariably belongs to one of the two sides of the ‘true–false’ divide. Similar categories are followed in the study of rumour in social media, where the nodes in a rumour chain are, however, less hierarchical, and where images are increasingly used for persuasion. This paper, following a value-oriented approach, argues that the science on rumour has objectivized the problem, and has suggested instrumental solutions like enhancing the digital literacy of social media users. Whereas a value position should ideally attempt to efface the dilemma of the rumouring/rumour-rebutting subject, and locate rumours within the larger socio-political and historical context of a society.

This article discuss self-esteem, one of  the Javanese attitude. Dignity or self- esteem for the Javanese is part of  the humanist character. Self-esteem is related to humanity (kamanungsan), namely the attitude of the self that prioritizes human behavior in treating others. Anthropologically, the Javanese self-esteem can be seen from the concept of local knowledge, which is a form of local knowl- edge that comes from daily life that is still growing in Java. The Javanese emic concept of self-esteem can be transformed into a value of wisdom and the spiri- tual insight on the present, when there is a stagnation in the application of general knowledge that has been dominated by Western values.
