The aim of our study was to determine features of social and emotional intelligence in family caregivers of patients with endogenous mental disorders as a basis for communicative resource formation in family where a patient lives. Materials and methods: A total of 273 family caregivers of patients with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder were involved into this survey under informed consent conditions. Control group included 55 mentally healthy respondents, in whose families there is no mentally sick family member. Emotional intelligence of family caregivers was measured using the psychodiagnostic test “EQ” by N. Hall. To assess level of social intelligence the J. Gilford and M. Sullivan test (in adaptation done by Mikhailova E.S.) was used. Values of p <0.05 were considered significant. Results: The study revealed that family caregivers of patients with schizophrenia and affective disorders demonstrate a decrease in emotional and social intelligence indicators, which creates significant obstacles for effective interpersonal family communication and for the harmonious functioning of a family, in which a mentally sick patient lives, in general. Difficulties of emotional regulation, emotional management, recognition of emotional states of other participants of communication related to the level of emotional and social intelligence of FC are factors, that complicate interpersonal relations in families of patients and reduce possibilities for psychosocial adaptation of all family members. Conclusions: Revealed features should be taken into consideration when creating appropriate psycho-educational and psycho-corrective programs for family caregivers of patients with endogenous mental disorders.

Introduction The aim of this study was to determine the rate of readmission to hospital after hip fracture. The relationship between readmission to hospital and a range of social and functional variables, including receiving a home visit by an occupational therapist prior to discharge from hospital, was explored. Method A retrospective cohort study was conducted of 154 patients returning to community living following hip fracture. Multivariate logistic regression identified variables associated with risk of readmission to hospital. Results One in three patients was readmitted to hospital within 12 months after discharge, with 7% readmitted within 30 days. The most common reason for readmission was another fall. A low level of mobility prior to hip fracture was the strongest independent predictor of risk of readmission to hospital. There was no association between receiving a pre-discharge home visit by an occupational therapist and risk of readmission to hospital. Conclusion Rates of readmission to hospital are high after hip fracture, and falls are the single most common reason for readmission. Interventions provided by occupational therapists, including home visits, should emphasise and incorporate evidence-based falls prevention strategies.

This paper is a discussion of the composition Fluor Sonescence, which combines trombone, electronics and video. The trombone and electronics are a mediated sonification of the video component. The video is a high framerate capture of the air motions produced by sound emanating from a brass instrument. This video material is translated into sound and serves as the final video component. The paper begins with a description of the data collection process and an overview of the compositional components. This is followed by a detailed description of the composition of the three components of Fluor Sonescence, while a discussion of the technical and aesthetic concerns is interwoven throughout. There is a discussion of the relationship of Fluor Sonescence to earlier works of the composer and the capture method for source material. The paper is an overview of a specific sonification project that is part of a larger trajectory of work. Please see https://vimeo.com/255790972/ to hear and view Fluor Sonescence.

Coaches and athletes of different sport background can have a marked influence on their relationship. The objective of this study was to compare the relationship level between the athlete and coach, among sport school students. In addition, this study aimed to compare the level of athlete to coach relationship and vice versa. The Coach-Athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q) is used in the data collection process. In this study, the measurement is made from the contract of interpersonal relationships (closeness, commitment and complementarity). The findings are presented in the form of descriptive statistics. The comparison and relationship among variables was determined using t-tests and Pearson correlation tests. The study found that there was a significant correlation between coaches in the team sports category with the closeness of t = 2.098, sig = 0041* (p <0.05). The study also found that there was a correlation between the total time of training in a week with the commitment of athletes r = 0.155, sig = 0.016* (p <0.05). These findings indicate that the coaches have a higher level of closeness compared with athletes. Meanwhile, it appears to be no problem with athletes’ commitment with the training period set by their coach. It can be concluded that, the higher the level of interpersonal qualities (closeness, commitment and complement) the higher the level of relationship between athletes and coaches.
