Industrial enterprises are improving their financial performance to achieve their development goals. The source of development can serve as a developed strategy and a specialized version of the program, which is based on the achievement of certain financial indicators. Particularly, it can be the issue of constant ensuring of profit, and of the increase and optimization of internal processes which are considered as a basis of steady functioning of the enterprise. Consideration of what can be viewed as the competitiveness of production, namely determines the relevance of the study. The novelty of the study is in the fact that not only a certain strategy in achieving the targets is considered as the basis of competitiveness, but also a strategy for the formation of internal sustainable environment of the enterprise, which can be implemented considering the needs of production and its potential development. As a basis for increasing the competitiveness of the chemical industry and sustainable operation of the enterprise, the authors consider the internal environment. The implementation of the increase in internal resistance is expected to be conducted based on the evaluation of the system of external cooperation. The practical significance of the work is determined by the need to form a certain relationship between internal stability and the possibilities of external change.

Proved that to achieve socio-economic development of state it is necessary to ensure not only invarionmental security of state, but also of enterprise. There are a sufficiently large number of methods to evaluate the economic and ecological security of enterprise and, at the same time, there aren’t any practical methods to evaluate its environmental security. This confirms the necessity to analyse this issue in a more detailed way. The aim of the article is to analyse and identify the drawbacks of existing methods to evaluate the environmental security of enterprise and develop a system of indicators for environmental security of industrial enterprises. The following research methods were used in the article: method of analysis and synthesis to determine the drawbacks of existing methods to establish the level of environmental security, the graph analytic method to build a scheme of the process to develop the system of indicators for environmental security of industrial enterprise. It is determined that the process to develop the system of indicators for environmental security of industrial enterprise is a process of successive stages of determining the purpose and tasks to diagnose the state of environmental security of industrial enterprise, to select and process the necessary information and, directly, to develop a system of indicators of environmental security of industrial enterprise. The practical significance of this study is to determine the level of environmental security of industrial enterprise as an integral indicator. Its core is a set of social and economic, technical and technological, scientific and innovative, managerial and organizational indicators which have to account the criteria related to the external and internal environment of the enterprise activity. The proposed process to develop the system of indicators for environmental security of industrial enterprise allows determining the level of environmental security.

Green initiatives have become a phenomenon globally now. This has taken seriously all parties regarding the process of environmental sustainability. Sustainable Development Goals had been used as a guideline towards this agenda. The Malaysian government issued the Green Technology Policy in July 2009 to accelerate the national economy and promote sustainable development. Meanwhile, green technology has been applied to universities in Malaysia to achieve green campus status under the UI Green Metric. Numerous universities in Malaysia have begun to take this issue seriously, including UiTM Perak. Three research objectives had been developed; (1) to determine strategies in promoting green campus in UiTM Perak, (2) to identify challenges in implementing green campus in UiTM Perak and (3) to recommend solutions to overcome the challenges in implementing green campus in UiTM Perak. A qualitative method approach by using a semi-structured interview with the Green Campus Committee had been adopted. The data is analysed using content analysis. The research revealed that despite several green initiatives implemented by UiTM Perak, there are also challenges occurring. Among them are financial, awareness and knowledge. To overcome these challenges, the management of UiTM Perak had outlined several actions to be taken. In conclusion, the green campus initiative can give many benefits towards a sustainable environment in UiTM Perak. Indeed, this agenda needs support by all parties.

This study aligns with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8, and 13 to evaluate the causal relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth in Ghana from 1960 to 2018. Using a battery of econometric techniques, findings indicate, among others, that economic growth is a positive predictor of carbon emissions. Inferences from these estimations point to a growth-led emissions nexus in Ghana. The causal analysis further provides evidence, though weak, that economic growth Granger-cause carbon emissions. Hence, policymakers should encourage coal gasification in Ghana, offering better environmental benefits at a lower cost to address the atmospheric build-up of carbon dioxide.

The concept of Sustainable development underlines the long lasting development of an economy by an efficient resource use fulfilling the economic, social and environmental aspects together. The SDGs by the UNDP focus  on 17 goals for all countries to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.The mission of Smart Cities in India is to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment and application of ‘Smart’ Solutions. The focus is on sustainable and inclusive development of the Mega cities, an indispensable outcome of the development process and urbanization implied in it. During the course of economic development over last 70 years in India, many cities have emerged as unsustainable and highly vulnerable to manmade calamities.This paper would elaborate on the details of Smart city project in India in the light of Sustainable development. The Smart cities mission though aims at sustainable development, this path is full of challenges along with some opportunities in disguise. Today in Russia there are 1120 cities that are located in the territories with varying degrees of concentration. In the federal districts and regions of the Russian Federation, there is a wide disparity not only in the size of cities, but also in their growth rates. At a decrease in the population in small cities, there is an increase in big towns and cities with more than one million inhabitants. This trend shows the “attraction” of the population from regions into capital cities. The aim of the article is to assess the effects of factors that can influence the growth of a city in the Russian Federation. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the analysis of the influence of external (infrastructure, security) and internal (economic, social, infrastructure, human capital, environmental situation) factors on the growth of cities. The paper presents a system of factor indicators of urban growth. Cities of different sizes have different levels of life standard, and therefore author’s methodology was tested in terms of urban sizes: towns, medium-sized cities, large cities, million-plus cities. The significant factors in the growth of millionplus cities in the Russian Federation are the initial population size and average monthly wages. The growth in the population of large cities is negatively affected by the spatial concentration of industrial enterprises. A high level of average monthly wages contributes to an increase in the population of this type of cities. A significant positive impact on the growth of large cities depends on the concentration of mining industry, volume of investments in fixed assets, number of doctors. The concentration of mining industrial production has a positive effect on the basic growth rate of medium-sized cities. The concentration of manufacturing and the volume of investment in fixed assets have a significant positive effect on the growth of small towns. The practical significance of the obtained results consists in the possibility of creation of a methodological toolkit for the assessment of urban systems of the region, which can become the basis for the development of an algorithm for the strategic planning of the spatial development of cities in the Russian Federation.

There have been a very limited number of systematic studies of how a region is turning digital opportunities into a development force. In theory, major advances in information and communication technology (ICT) have successfully transformed traditional businesses and markets, revolutionized learning and knowledge-sharing, generated global information flows, and empowered citizens and communities in new ways to redefine governance (Afuah, 2003; Mullaney et al., 2003). At a regional level, this “digital revolution” could offer enormous opportunities to support sustainable local prosperity, and thus help to achieve the broader development goals (DOT Force, 2001). Alaska is one state that can be positioned to take advantage of Internet and e-commerce technologies. Isolated from the U.S. main economic centers and heavily reliant on the export of commodities in its economy, e-commerce or business via the Internet is an ideal choice for Alaska. However, the available statistics do not support this claim. Most economic indicators show a downward trend in Alaska since 1995, in spite of the fact that the federal government expenditure has been increasing (ASTF, 2002). This chapter is dedicated to measuring the usage of the Internet in Alaska. It hypothesizes that geographical limitations help a region like Alaska embrace ICT and its applications without much hesitation, but also hinders the region to fully exploit the potential of ICT due to the limitations of resources. A large-scale survey was conducted to reveal the characteristics of Internet usage among individuals, government agencies, local communities, and private firms in Alaska. This research is of interest in two aspects: It could offer help for policymakers and enterprises within Alaska to realize the potential development brought about by the current digital revolution, and it could help enterprises outside Alaska to target this market more effectively. Theoretically, it could shed light on issues related to technology adoption and local innovation. Besides that, the platform-dependent approach used in this research can be applied in a broader context.

The scientific article is devoted to the issues of budgeting system at industrial enterprises. The problem of improving the budgeting system in the enterprises of the corporate sector has always been a key issue for both government and business. In a time of economic turmoil and post-crisis periods, this problem becomes even more relevant. Methodological tools are analytical and economic methods of information processing. The relevance, theoretical and practical significance of the scientific research is determined by the focus on solving an important scientific and practical problem of empirical importance for budgeting within the financial planning system with limited financial resources and optimization of project financing sources.


Subject The political and economic impact of the earthquake. Significance The human tragedy represented by the April 25 earthquake in Nepal is immense. The death toll has crossed 6,000 and could eventually reach twice that figure. The number of people adversely affected is estimated at 8.1 million or 30% of the total population. The immediate economic cost of the damage may not be as great since the country is among the poorest in the world and has long-established, if inadequate, mechanisms for coping with natural disaster. However, plans to raise Nepal's development status -- especially through the expansion of hydroelectric power and tourism -- are set back. Impacts The tourism industry will struggle to recover its previous momentum for years to come. Internal resistance to hydroelectric plants could rise as the earthquake draws increased attention to environmental risks. Chinese and Indian rivalry in Nepal promises new opportunities to private investors.

The tourism industry and the hotel and restaurant sector have suffered the most among all sectors of the economy. Thus, it is important to determine the current circumstances and effective tools for its development in order to return to the pre-crisis state and further sustainable operation. The purpose of the study. Systematization of analytical information on the current state of the hospitality industry, determination of strategic priorities and a set of measures to restore sustainable activities and strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic hospitality industry in the national and international market. Research methods. In the process of scientific work were used general and special methods of scientific abstraction, induction and deduction, statistical analysis, analogy and quantitative and qualitative comparison. Research hypothesis. It is assumed that the development of hospitality as a component of the tourism industry should be based on a set of theoretical principles, historical background and current circumstances of business development in this area at the national and international levels. Presentation of the main material. Most of the problems of the national hospitality sector are outdated; modern conditions of activity of hospitality enterprises are formed under the influence of factors (pandemic, global informatization, change of competitive determinants and deepening of specialization); the strategic priorities for the development of the hospitality sector include the concentration of efforts to: protect their own interests by joining the relevant professional associations, informatization of all areas of work, active cooperation with institutions of higher education and greening of facilities and services offered to customers. Originality and practical significance of the study: the results presented in the study are relevant for consideration and practical implementation for any enterprise in the hospitality industry of Ukraine. Conclusions and prospects for further research. Сompliance with the recommendations will allow hospitality companies to stay in the regional and domestic tourism market, strengthen their competitiveness and offer services of good quality not only domestic but also foreign tourists.

The article defines the formation conditions of regional development vectors on the basis of approved federal documents and the opinion of regional authorities on the expediency of applying efforts to certain sectors of the economy. The authors indicate the necessity of focusing on the development of the industrial sector of the economy. This is justified, first of all, by the high level of the added value of industrial products. The industrial sector is also pointed out as a factor of intellectualization of the consumer sphere and a driver of economic growth. At the same time, staff potential is highlighted as one of the most important resource components. The results of the study indicate the participants in the formation of labor resources and the problems of their interaction, the shortcomings of staffing support at modern industrial enterprises. The article contains the mechanisms that are necessary for managing the processes of staff potential development, including the ones that take into account the prospective needs in the conditions of industrial transformations and the young people’s understanding of their purpose in economic activity. The emphasis is placed on the complexity and consistency of the actions taken. At the same time, the authors provide a list of the most significant professional skills and promising professions for both large manufacturers and small and medium-sized businesses.
