This descriptive study was conducted on totally 460 students from the departments of nutrition and dietetic (n=143) and nursing (n=317) of a health college located in Akşehir County of Konya City in the period of December 1st-31st, 2015. Within the scope of the study, age, gender, department and grade characteristics of students, their individual and family member’s status in terms of consuming tobacco products, and their opinions regarding pictorial warnings to be printed on cigarettes packs, regulated by the European Union published on 17.12.2014.As a result of the study, it was determined that students’ opinions regarding efficiency of written and pictorial warnings on cigarettes packs were differing with respect to students’ gender and sigarettes usage status; and that illustrations on cigarettes packs were found more effective by female students and non-cigarettes user.Especially activities such as training programs, seminars/congress/conferences for male students and cigarettes users about tobacco products and their harms could contribute in raising awareness of university youth. Additionally, placing impressive or even scary images in larger sizes emphasizing serious health problems on cigarettespacks could be effective on significant decrease of usage of tobacco products. ÖzetKonya İli Akşehir İlçesinde yer alan bir sağlık yüksekokulunun beslenme diyetetik (n=143) ve hemşirelik bölümünden (n=317) toplam 460 öğrencinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilen tanımlayıcı tipteki bu çalışma 1-31 Aralık 2015 tarihleri arasında uygulanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında, öğrencilerin yaşı, cinsiyeti, bölümü, sınıfı, kendisinin ve aile bireylerinin tütün ürünlerini kullanma durumu gibi bazı özellikleri ile sigara paketleri üzerine basılmak üzere Avrupa Birliği tarafından 17.12.2014 tarihinde yayınlanan resimli uyarılar hakkındaki düşünceleri öğrenilmiştir.Yapılan çalışma sonucunda, sigara paketleri üzerindeki yazılı ve görsel uyarıları etkili bulma durumunun öğrencilerin cinsiyetine ve sigara kullanma durumuna göre değiştiği, kız öğrencilerin ve sigara kullanmayanların sigara paketleri üzerindeki ifadeleri daha etkili buldukları saptanmıştır.Özellikle erkek öğrencilere ve sigara kullananlara tütün ürünleri ve zararlarına yönelik düzenlenecek eğitim programları, seminer/kongre/konferans türü etkinlikler üniversite gençliğinin farkındalık düzeyinin arttırılmasına ve bilinçlendirilmelerine katkıda bulunacaktır. Ayrıca, sigara paketleri üzerine daha geniş alanı kapsayan, daha ciddi sağlık sorunlarına işaret eden çarpıcı hatta ürkütücü resimlerin basılması tütün ürünlerinin kullanılmasının önemli ölçüde azaltılmasında etkili olabilir.

Purpose: The Centers of Excellence in Primary Care Education (CoEPCE) is an interprofessional graduate training program within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this project, we describe career paths of CoEPCE graduates, their perceptions of CoEPCE program value, their overall satisfaction with the training, and suggestions for program improvement to enhance interprofessional education and workforce development. Methods: The Graduate Participant Survey was developed and administered in 2018 to CoEPCE graduates from 2012 to 2017. Quantitative data from closed-ended questions were analyzed through descriptive and non-parametric statistics to test for significant differences by profession. Qualitative data from the single open-ended question were analyzed using content analysis with inductive and deductive approaches. Results: The survey was completed by 180 graduates. Greater proportions of pharmacists and psychologists than nurse practitioners and physicians were employed in VA, and greater proportions of nurse practitioners and pharmacists than physicians and psychologists were employed in primary care. Although smaller proportions of physicians were currently employed in primary care ( P < .0001), a greater proportion completed advanced training programs ( P < .0001). Overall, graduates perceived that their CoEPCE training was highly valued by advanced training programs and employers and improved their chances of finding a job. They reported high levels of satisfaction (mean = 4.3 ± 0.9 out of 5 total) with the training program, continued to use skills they learned during training, and believe their CoEPCE experiences made them better health care providers. Conclusions: Ninety-four percent of the CoEPCE graduates were employed at the VA and/or primary care at the completion of their training, although there were significant differences by profession. Graduates continued to practice interprofessional skills learned during their training and were highly satisfied with the program. Taken together, the findings indicate that continued enhancements to the interprofessional clinical learning environment are warranted.

ABSTRACTmiRNAs are small non-coding RNAs, that act as negative regulators of the genomic output. Their intrinsic importance within cell biology and human disease is well known. Their mechanism of action based on the base pairing binding to their cognate targets, have helped the development of many computer applications for the prediction of miRNA target recognition. More recently, many other computer applications have appeared with the objective of studying miRNA roles in many contexts, trying to dissect and predict their functions in a specific biological process. Learning about miRNA function needs a practical training in the use of specific computer and web-based applications that are complementary to the wet-lab studies. In the last seven years we have been involved in the organization of advanced training courses about thein silicofunctional analysis of miRNAs and non-coding RNAs, for students ranging from the postgraduate to the post-doctoral level. In order to guide the learning process about miRNAs, we have created miRNAtools (http://mirnatools.eu), a web repository of miRNA tools and tutorials. This page is a compilation of tools to analyze miRNAs and their regulatory action that intends to collect and organize the information that is dispersed in the web. The miRNAtools webpage is completed by a collection of tutorials that can be used by students and tutors engaged in advanced training courses. The tutorials follow the rationale of the analysis of the function of selected miRNAs, starting from their nomenclature and genomic localization and finishing by assessing their involvement in specific cellular functions.DESCRIPTION OF THE AUTHORFrancisco J. Enguita is assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon and senior investigator at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular within the same University.KEY POINTS- We have designed a web-page, mIRNAtools3 (http://mirnatools.eu) specifically devoted for advanced teaching purposes within the miRNA field.- The webpage constitutes also a repository of web-tools for the analysis of miRNA function in several contexts.- The webpage contains tutorials that cover many aspects related with miRNAs including nomenclature, target prediction and validation, and functional analysis.

Most government sector in the region face the issue of lack of local training provided for the employees. Research shows the constant development in the workplace and the need to develop employee knowledge and experience through constant training. To provide an easy solution for sectors and institutions to communicate and present their needs when it comes to training programs and courses, this research aims to create a platform through mobile application to bring together government sectors and local teaching institutions to provide required training programs for employees. This is done by investigating on the issues of accessibility of the Training programs in Oman, evaluate the importance and impact of training programs on employee development, introduce a training program application and investigate on the usage benefits on the Training Program Application within government sectors. Since this research introduces a new concept, it asks: What are the issues facing organizations when it comes to training programs? To what extent does the application influence employee development? How complex is the development of a Training Program Application? And, how will government sectors benefit from the Application? Aside from the literature review, interviews were also made with local experts from government sectors to shed light on the effect of lack of training on the current employee situation. Online surveys were distributed to a group of employees from different departments in some local government sectors. Analysis of the responses shows the need and interest of employees on the issue of training, as the majority of employees have an interest in local courses and would use the application to benefit their work experience. The results indicate the Training Program Application affects positively on the government sectors and can provide all the needed training courses with less cost and influence employees.
