Scholars interested in organisational culture research have kept a fire-war going for years discussing the pros and cons of quantitative versus qualitative ways of examining the concept. The qualitative camp points out that the richness of perceptions and experiences inside an organisation are vital to the deep understanding of cultural dynamics, and they sniff that organisational culture cannot be constrained to a two by two matrix or a list of dimensions. On the other camp, quantitative scholars argue that leaders need to have some hard data, and that the drawbacks of getting slow, expensive, possibly unreliable (unique to the interpretation of the researcher) qualitative information make the usefulness iffy at best. The limitations of the existing studies on organisational culture, serve as the main crux of this article. The author is of the view that existing studies on the concept of organisational culture, may have failed to present a comprehensive picture of the dynamics of culture in the organisation. This article, therefore, argues for the use of mixed methodologies in the study and analysis of organisational culture.

This study aim to investigate the concept of dilālah fi'li al-Nabi in terms of interpreting the sunnah from the prophet. This study also aim to know the implication of dilālah fi'li al-Nabi of the perspective of fiqh ikhtilaf. The methodological approach of the study was qualitative literature review using philosophical normative approach and the rules of ushul fiqh approach. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The law of Istinbāṭ sunnah fiʻliyah has been considered to be different from sunnah qauliyah, particularly in an attempt to understand the dilālah. If the sunnah qauliyah is merely interpreted based just only by its language, the fi'liyah sunnah is interpreted based on the essence of prophets’ actions also. Therefore, it is necessary to have a deep understanding of determining the law of the Prophet's actions. The Prophet's position as a qudwah and a human being that Allah has given distinction to him made the application of the law become different to his followers. So that it has to be taken into consideration before deciding any laws related to the prophet’s hadiths. (2) Ikhtilaf uṣūliyīn on dilālah fi'l al-Nabī has implications on various fiqh problems which postulate the actions of the Prophet. Ikhtilaf happens in an attempt to understand fi’l al-Nabī al-mujarrad because there are no supporting argument or the qarīnah, the explanatory instructions which is useful as a lawmaker. Some uṣūliyīn think that taʼassī in terms of the actions done by Nabi Muhammads’ followers will be rewarded by Allah though the actions are not related to any worship. Therefore, the spirit of taʼassī to sunna Nabi must be follewed by a proper understanding and a proper application, because a contradictive application of maqāṣid syarīʻah can happen if it is partially understood and jumūd. In contrast, the other groups that are against this spirit must beware of falling into excessive attitudes that can ruin the good relation between muslims, and must beware of falling into deviations.

Chapter 1 lays out the methodological approach employed throughout the book, which is to pay attention to the dialectical dependence of what the main speaker in the dialogue says on the intellectual problem(s) set up in the dialogue both by himself and the other speakers. To illustrate, Chapter 1 describes Socrates’ use of the method of hypotheses from the Meno and Phaedo to answer questions that go beyond his claims to knowledge in the Republic.

IDENTIFICATION AND CHARACTERISATION OF LANDSCAPE IN PORTUGAL –This paper presents the concepts and methodology used in the study «Identification and characterisation of landscape in continental Portugal» undertaken by theDepartment of Landscape and Biophysical Planning of the University of Evora for the General Directorate for Spatial Planning and Urban Development (DGOT-DU) at the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, between 1999 and 2001. On the one hand, the methodological approach developed is based on the methodologies used recently for the same purpose in different European countries and on the way landscape has been considered in various European documents in the last years. On the other hand, it is also based on the team’s concern to approach the landscape as an holistic entity, and to examine its various components: ecological, cultural, socio-economic and sensorial. The set aim has been to define landscape units and to characterize these units in relation to the present landscape and the recorded trends, related problems and possibilities. Thus, the cartography relative to selected variables has been combined and related to satellite images and field surveys. The results of cross-referencing all this information has than been combined with expert examination of landscape coherence and character within each unit. The assessment was completed after careful bibliographic research and consultation with regional experts. The result is a flexible approach that combines objective analysis with a more subjective assessment, which the team considered fundamental for a true understanding of landscape.

The article presents methodological approach in management and quality sciences. Quantitative research aims to test hypothesised relationships between variables. Three areas can be identified for assessing the methodological rigour of this type of research: (1) theories relating to phenomena; (2) measures of concepts explaining the phenomena; (3) the reality analysed. it was found that the idiographic approach predominates in the group of theoreticians and represents 59.6 % (239 indications). The nomothetic approach, on the other hand, is used less frequently, accounting for 40.4 % of the responses (162 indications).

Mathematics is the foundation of sciences and it is important in a learner’s career success. Growth mindset in mathematics teaching is essential to reach a broader student population effectively. Shifting the focus from performance and time pressure to deep understanding and personal growth, unnecessary competition vanishes among learners. As a result, they develop a better relation with their own thinking and they gain insights into the thinking of others. At the same time, collaboration and communication emerge naturally. The fear of mathematics and making mistakes disappear, while students learn by connecting ideas and applying the already learned study material. In the academic years of 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, two Dutch research projects dealt with the application of a growth mindset in mathematics teaching. One was in secondary schools, the other one at universities. In this article, we briefly report about and reflect on the exciting results of these studies and suggest further directions for research and the development of best practices. The ideas and experiences described in this paper are urgent as currently we are at the threshold of a new era in which education and learning are (and should be) really open for everyone; with low floor and without ceilings.

The ethics in educational process occupies the most significant place in Islamic intellectual tradition. One of the greatest Islamic education’s forms in Indonesia is Pesantren so its success signifies the success of this nation. The ethics between Santri (Pesantren’s learner) and Kyai (Pesantren’s lecture) is the identical tenet there, so it’s necessary to explore it in Al-Quran as our way of life. Hereby this study is purposed to obtain a deep understanding about the ethics of santri to Kyai by analyzing the interpretation of Al Kahfi verse 66 – 70. This is a qualitative research using literature method (library research) with the book Mafatih al-Gaib, written by Fahrudin Al – Razi, as the primer data source and the other related literature data as the secondary source. This study found that there are 10 ethical values in Al Kahfi verse 66 – 70 associated with the ethics of santri to Kyai i.e : a. Tawadlu’, b. Asking permition to study, c. feeling more stupid d. asking the kyai to teach e. believing that Allah gives the more knowledge for Kyai, f. Tawakkal and asking Allah’s guidance, g. studying seriously, h. absolute obedience, i. khidmah and j. doesn’t ask the other but knowledge.

Component-based development can be addressed from two different fronts, or more precisely, from two different levels. One of them regards the technology used for system implementation, and the other is a previous and more abstract level, where the focus is set to the logical structure of the solution and where technological issues are not considered. Model Driven Architecture promotes such separation by distinguishing platform independent models from platform specific models. In alignment with this approach, this article proposes a mapping from the tiered and platform independent architecture for information systems resulting from the application of a widely known methodological approach, to the available constructs in the J2EE platform. This mapping allows the definition of transformations between platform independent models, resulting from the referred methodology where it is possible to abstractly reason about the solution, and platform specific models which are aligned with technological constructs and are directly implemented.

The article considers the role of Prince A. Menshikov as a specific type of agent of supreme authority in the process of reforming the maritime administration. The problem context of reforms resulted from the involvement of the naval generals and officials in abuses, which was a consequence of nepotism and unrest in the navy. The involvement of sailors in the Decembrist revolt significantly affected the attitude of the tsar to the general situation in the naval environment. Distrustful of the existing naval administration, Nicholas I needed an intermediary who would implement his idea of the arrangement of the navy on the one hand, and provide him with an objective “impartial” account of maritime problems, on the other hand. As a result of that, Adjutant General Prince A. Menshikov, who had had nothing to do with the naval service earlier, joined the navy to become the monarch’s agent in charge of the naval issues in the bodies of autocratic authority. The objective of the article is to identify the functions of such an agent based on the example of the Maritime Department. The sources of the article include official records and personal documents, some of which are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The principal methodological approach to the problem under study is an attempt to bring the appointment of Menshikov beyond the scope of narrow departmental history which was based on the unmotivated decision of the emperor and to propose an interpretation of the events in the context of tsarist government via agents, which has already been described in historiography. The author makes a conclusion about the interconnection between the crisis in the naval department, the attitude of the supreme authority towards it, and the appearance of the monarch’s agent with a number of his own functional characteristics.
