Objective: The quality of original clinical trial publications pertaining to the use of oral antifungal agents to treat onychomycosis was evaluated using predetermined criteria. Methods: The list of studies included in this analysis was determined by conducting a search in Medline. For each clinical trial, two independent reviewers each determined a composite score by evaluating a list of criteria that were felt to represent a good study, for example, randomization and blinding, prior sample size calculated, and treatment regimen clearly explained. A citation count was performed to determine whether higher-quality papers were cited more often than lower-quality papers. Results: Forty-five studies were included in this quality analysis of study design. Of these, 27 were considered to be “high quality” (score greater than or equal to 11 out of 20). A significant correlation coefficient of 0.997 was found between the two reviewers ( P < 0.00001). Higher-quality papers were cited significantly more often than lower-quality papers ( P = 0.03). Conclusion: The scale that we use to evaluate the quality of onychomycosis studies has high interrater reliability. According to this scale, many published studies (18 out of 45) pertaining to treatments for onychomycosis do not meet the criteria required to be considered “high quality.”

Quality estimation in images is an area which demands high attention of researchers. Many recent algorithms in Image quality assessment relies on the computation of definite values from the image or comparison with the original pristine image. Here, we propose the extraction of a set of specific features from image and processing is done on these extracted features to obtain the objective quality score. The detailed inspection of behaviour of this set of highly specific image features extracted through less complex mathematical procedure from a collection good quality and low quality set of Natural Scene Statistics images available in LIVE dataset is elaborated in this work. Our studies and results are compared with the subjective opinion value and is proven to be accurate. The obtained results are demonstrated using statistical and graphical manner for promptness in understanding the nature of quality of the image. Thus the proposed feature set is proven to be complete in assessing the quantitative quality value of any Natural image.

Diagnostics in the practice of a dentist is the key to quality treatment. However, depending on the quality of services provided, the cost of diagnostic methods is set. For a dentist working in a private office, the key to successful diagnostic measures at a high quality level is a priority. However, these methods are expensive for the patient. The purpose of this study is to study the impact of financial incentives on the quality of early diagnosis in the practice of a dentist who provides quality treatment. In the study, we studied clinical cases with full and partial study in terms of diagnostic and neglect x-ray diagnosis from the doctor and from the patient due to a misunderstanding of the importance and necessity of this manipulation. In statistical data analysis, the resulting regression models use a binary variable as a dependent variable on the level of financial costs. Thus, in the course of our research, we found that the number of x-rays significantly increases when dentists receive a fee for services, rather than a salary, and when patients are exempt from paying for additional diagnostic methods. Our results show that financial incentives significantly influence additional high-quality and complete examination of patients.

Over the past several years the capabilities of personal computers have advanced at a staggering rate. At the same time, the cost of the hardware has dropped to such a degree that one wonders whether such inexpensive hardware can perform adequately. The purpose of this discussion is to look at the minimum hardware necessary to do quality stereo imaging on CRT display devices and to discuss several important evaluation criteria in producing these stereo images. The most important criteria for producing high quality stereo pairs lies in the quality of the digitization of the image. Most TV rate imaging systems even after multiple frames are averaged are quite distorted and lack sufficient image detail. Slow scan imaging systems such as the one developed in this laboratory which use a gated integrator and can digitize at over one thousand pixels square with 256 gray levels produce images which are extremely close to photographic quality.

High quality independent audit can enhance the reliability of financial statement information, reduce the cost of principal-agent and improve the efficiency of market resource allocation. In China, the audit report should be signed and sealed by auditor. This means that audit liability can be traced directly to signed auditor individuals, it is even more important to carry out the research on individual audit behavior and audit quality of signed auditor. The research contribution of this paper is to expand the relevant research on auditor discipline, and to deduce from “prior research” through theory. It is found that the low-quality audit behavior is a special case caused by the chartered accountant’s personal characteristics.

According to the shortcomings of the traditional free abrasive chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), in recent years, the fixed abrasive chemical mechanical polishing (FA-CMP) technology is proposed. It is a new planarization technology developed on the basis of the traditional CMP. Pad is an important and dispensable part in FA-CMP. The cost and quality of FA-CMP pad are determined by the preparation technology. In order to study the FA-CMP pad of the low cost and high quality, in this paper, by reading a lot of literature, 5 kinds of preparation technology of FA-CMP pad are analyzed. Study results will provide some reference for further designing and manufacturing the FA-CMP pad.

109 Background: Increasing costs of cancer drugs underscore the importance of EA, which convey key information about the relative costs and benefits of new interventions. Although guidelines for abstracts exist for phase I, II, and III oncology trials, similar recommendations for EA are lacking. Our objectives were to 1) identify items considered to be essential for EA abstracts; 2) evaluate the quality of EA abstracts submitted to ASCO, ASH, and ISPOR meetings; and 3) propose guidelines for future reporting. Methods: Health economic experts were surveyed and asked to rate each of 24 possible EA elements on a 5-point Likert scale. A scoring system for abstract quality (0=poor and 100=excellent) was devised based on EA elements with an average expert rating ≥ 3.5. All EA abstracts from ASCO (‘97–‘09), ASH (‘04–‘09) and ISPOR (‘97–‘09) were reviewed and assigned a quality score. Results: Of 99 experts surveyed, 50 (51%) responded. Characteristics of respondents: average age = 53; male = 78%; US / Europe / Canada = 54% / 28% / 18%. A total of 216 abstracts were reviewed: ASCO 53%, ASH 14% and ISPOR 33%. Median quality score was 75 (range 48 to 93), but notable deficiencies were observed. For instance, the cost perspective of the EA was reported in only 61% of abstracts, while the time horizon was described in only 47%. An association was seen between year of presentation and overall quality of abstracts (p=0.001), with those from recent years demonstrating better quality scores. There were also disparities in quality scores among EA of different cancer sites (p=0.005). Conclusions: Quality of EA abstracts for oncology has improved over time, but there is room for improvement. Abstracts may be enhanced using guidelines derived from our survey of experts (see table). [Table: see text]

This paper firstly analyzes the problems that exist in the cold rolling of steel industry. Secondly, a new approach is proposed to temper and straighten the strip steel based on the temper leveling mill, shortly, TLM. The required high quality of the wave, surface and mechanical properties can be achieved only with TLM. TLM holds the functions of both temper machine and straightening mill and can produce good quality strip steel, no only the waviness, mechanical properties, but also the surface quality. The usage of TLM can lower the cost of the production of tempering, straightening and equipment investment. Finally, the experiments are done and verify the validity of the approach.
