In this review article, we summarize our current knowledge of the main identifi ed and characterized myokines, focusing on their biological activity and functions. Ayurveda defines human body is made of different gross and subtle channels called srotas. Srotas are the channels through which different elements undergo transformation, transmutation, circulation and transportation. The srotas is an integral part of the body, serving as a route to conduct or convey a substance from one place to other. There are 13 major srotas mentioned. The Srotas or channels which carry Anna or Food is called Annavaha Srotas. Some authorities equate the Annavaha Srotas with the some parts of digestive system or the gastrointestinal tract. Agni, the transformative energy, in the Annavaha srotas digest and transforms the food into components suitable for the body. Impairment of function of agni is root the cause of the disease, which manifest either in Annavaha srotas or other srotas in the body. Thus, correction of agni is the prime in treatment of any disease. Elimination of vitiated doshas by Pancakarma procedure viz Vaman and Virechana has shown to have impact on agni through various guna in the drugs used in these therapy. Sodhana procedures has a significant role in improving the function of agni and restoring the health.

The progressive view of domestic clinicians on peptic ulcer disease is well known not as a local process in the stomach or in the duodenum, but as a general disease of the body (M. M. Gubergrits, M. P. Konchalovsky, R. A. Luria, N. D. Strazhesko , M.V. Chernorutsky, etc.). However, despite the great work invested in the study of peptic ulcer disease, much in this problem remains unclear and not specified. In particular, the demands of healthcare practice and the results of existing methods of treating peptic ulcer disease do not meet.

Throughout Maya history the left and right sides of the human body, left/right spatial orientation, and handedness have had important cultural and symbolic meanings. This essay examines left/right symbolism in relation to the body, which is generally overlooked in studies of archaeological societies and material culture, and discusses how it relates to ancient Maya ideology and behavior. New information from Classic Maya iconography, plus corroborative information from Maya ethnography and cross-cultural investigations, support the proposition that left/right symbolic differences and hierarchies were present in ancient Maya society. For the Classic Maya, as with contemporary Maya peoples, the right hand or side of the body often signified “pure, powerful, or superordinate,” and the left frequently symbolized “weaker, lame, or subordinate” in particular cultural contexts. Hence, in Classic Maya imagery, kings face to their right and use their right hands, while subordinates are oriented to their left and frequently use their left hands. Following comparative anthropological analyses, consideration of handedness and human body symmetry help explain the left/right dichotomy and the apparent primacy of the right in Classic Maya spatial reference, social order, and worldview. The findings of this study have important implications for the examination of left/right symbolism in material culture, images of the body, and ideology in other societies.

In Ayurveda, there are three basic blocks upon which the human body stands, these are Dosha, Dhatu and Mala. Dhatus are the main which perform the function of holding together the bodily elements. There are seven Dhatu in person; these are Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi, Majja and Shukra. As Mamsa Dhatu is very important component of our body and its Moola Sthana are Twacha and Snayu. Mamsa is one of the seven constructive build icons of body namely Dhatus. It is widely accepted by all the Ayurvedic scholars who named it as Pishit, Taras, Palal, Raktateja, Medaskruta, Kravyam, Aamisha and so on. It helps in formation of Mamsa Dhatu in the body with its principle site in body as muscles, tendons and skin. In Ayurveda classics, Marma is illustrated as the vital point in the human body and its knowledge plays an im- portant role in Sharir Rachana. Marma was first documented by Acharya Charak but the detailed description of Marma Sharir is available in Sushruta Samhita. Acharya Sushruta stated every aspect of Marma like definition, types, signs, and symptoms related to injury of Marma. Marma is a very important structure present in the body which causes pain or even death when getting injured. According to Acharya Sushruta in the description of Eka- dash Indriya Hasta and Paad are included under the five Karmendriya and their function is mentioned as Aadan and Vihar respectively and Hasta (hand) is considered as the most important/superior Yantra among all the Yan- tras by Acharya Susruta. Although each part of the human body is important still extremities possess the most importance as all body activities depend on limbs as without limbs existence of the human body is hard to imag- ine. So Anatomical interpretation of Urdhva Shakhagata Snayu Marma along with its clinical importance is very much needed in the present era. An attempt has been made to explore structures present in Urdhva Shakhagata Snayu Marma through cadaveric dissection. Keywords: Ekadash Indriya, Snayu Marma, Yantra.
