Polyamide resin is widely used in dentistry as a denture base material. Cinnamon burmanii has been proven to have antibacterial and antifungal substances. Therefore, it is the potential to be used as a nature denture cleanser. This study aimed to examine the effect of soaking 50% cinnamon extract solution on the surface roughness of polyamide resin. This study used 16 polyamide resin samples soaked in 50% cinnamon extract solution and 16 samples soaked in distilled water as the control group. It examined the surface roughness before and after immersion for four days and seven days. Data were analyzed using paired T-test and independent T-test. The results showed a significant difference in the surface roughness of polyamide resin before and after immersion in cinnamon solution for four days and seven days. The surface roughness change is due to the polyphenol's reaction on the polyamide resin surface, which has destroyed the polymer chain of polyamide resin.

To mantain digestive health, people usually consume yogurt that has acidity 4-5. Acidic solutions can cause the surface roughness of acrylic resin heat cured is used as denture base material. Denture with rough surfaces facilitate the attachment of plaque and bacteria that can degrade the cleanliness and health of the patient. The purpose of this study was to analyze the surface roughness of acrylic resin heat cured after being immersed in yogurt with different immersion time. Thirty acrylic resin heat cured specimens (12 mm in length, 12 mm in wide and 2 mm height) were prepared and divided into three experimental groups (n=10): I ( specimens immersed in yogurt for 60 minutes), II (specimens immersed in yogurt for 120 minutes) and III (specimens immersed in yogurt for 180 minutes). Surface roughness before and after immersion was measured using Profilometer. Data will be analyzed using T test (p<0,05). After immersion, the specimens showed significantly different on surface roughness (p=0,04). Among the experimental groups, immersion for 180 minutes showed the highest surface roughness value than 60 and 120 minutes. It can be concluded that yogurt can make surface roughness of acrylic resin heat cured. Increasing surface roughness depends on exposure time of yogurt on acrylic resin heat cured. Alcoholic beverages can be consumed in any group age, and it may be consumed by an individual using denture. Fluid absorption by heat-cured acrylic resin as a material of a denture base was able to cause an increase in its surface roughness. Absorption of an organic solvent such as the ethanol in an alcoholic beverage(s) could even increase the effect. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of alcohol beverages on surface roughness of heat-cured acrylic resin denture base. Samples (n=24) were prepared from heat-cured acrylic resin (25x25x5 mm). They were divided into 4 groups and the pre-test surface roughness was measured. Samples of each group were immersed for 10 minutes into the solution (distilled water as the control group, beer, wine, and whiskey as the test groups). After stored in artificial saliva for 23 hours, the samples were immersed into the solution, completing a period of 24 hours. This procedure was performed for 7 consecutive days and the post-test surface roughness was measured. Data were statistically analyzed using the Kruskal-Walis test. There was a significant difference in surface roughness measurement before and after the immersion (p<0.05). Whiskey was most affecting the surface roughness of heat-cured acrylic resin denture base. Alcoholic beverages could increase the surface roughness of heat cure acrylic resin denture base. Keywords: Alcoholic beverages; Heat-cured acrylic denture base; Surface roughness

Introduction: The denture base is the part of the removable denture that is supported by good adaptation to the underlying oral tissue. Most of the denture bases are made of acrylic or polymethyl methacrylate resin, better known as PMMA. However, the acrylic resin also has disadvantages such as easily broken and absorbs liquids both water and chemicals. The chemical absorption like alcohol, ethanol, and some drinks that contain acidic materials will chemically be induced with acrylic resin and settle in the pores of the acrylic resin. The chemical damage or defect creates roughness on the surface of the acrylic resin which can cause cracking or crazing and a decrease in surface strength and hardness. Materials and Methods: The method used in this research was a laboratory experimental design with a post-test-only control group using 12 samples consisting of 2 different types of samples by measuring the surface roughness of the acrylic resin after immersing the sample with a predetermined time. Results and Discussions: One-way ANOVA test results showed a significant difference in surface roughness after the samples immersion with a value of p = 0.006 (p <0.05). Conclusions: Based on this research, can be concluded that there is an increase in the surface roughness of the heated polymerized acrylic resin for 3 hours and 4 hours of immersion. The longer the heated polymerized acrylic resin is soaked in arak hence the level of surface roughness increases.

ABSTRACT Objectives: The present study verified the influence of whitening dentifrices on the surface roughness of a nanohybrid composite resin. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two specimens were prepared with Filtek™ Z350 XT (3M/ESPE) and randomly divided into four groups (n = 08) that were subjected to brushing simulation equivalent to the period of 1 month. The groups assessed were a control group with distilled water (G1), Colgate Total 12 Professional Clean (G2), Sensodyne Extra Whitener Extra Fresh (G3), and Colgate Luminous White (G4). A sequence of 90 cycles was performed for all the samples. The initial roughness of each group was analyzed by the Surface Roughness Tester (TR 200-TIME Group Inc., CA, USA). After the brushing period, the final roughness was measured, and the results were statistically analyzed using nonparametric Kruskal–Wallis and Dunn tests for intergroup roughness comparison in the time factor. For intragroup and “Δ Final − Initial” comparisons, the Wilcoxon test and (one-way) ANOVA were, respectively, performed (α = 0.05). Results: The roughness mean values before and after brushing showed no statistically significant difference when the different dentifrices were used. None of the dentifrices analyzed increased significantly the nanohybrid composite resin surface roughness in a 1 month of tooth brushing simulation. Conclusions: These results suggest that no hazardous effect on the roughness of nanohybrid composite resin can be expected when whitening dentifrices are used for a short period. Similar studies should be conducted to analyze other esthetic composite materials.

Avoiding biofilm formation on dentures is associated with maintaining the surface properties of acrylic-based dentures. The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of two different cleaning agents (Corega and Klorhex 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate) on surface roughness of the denture regarding efficacy of curing procedures. A total of sixty disc-shaped specimens were prepared with two different methods as long and short curing processes. The specimens were divided into subgroups according to the immersion solutions (distilled water, Corega tablet group and Klorhex 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate group) (n=10). The samples were kept in a solution for 8 hours per day during a month. The average Ra1 (before exposure to the cleanser agent) and Ra2 (after exposure to the cleanser agent) of each sample was measured. A two-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey test was used for statistical analysis. The solutions significantly increased the Ra values in both acrylic groups (p<0.001). While the effect of the distilled water group was significantly lower than Corega and Klorhex in the long-term curing group (p<0.05), no significant difference was found in the short-term curing group (p>0.05). The long-term curing time is highly effective in decreasing the surface roughness of the acrylic base material.

The farmers in Indonesia have not maximally taken advantage of the existence of rice husk; therefore the huge number of the husk becomes disturbing waste, which spoils environment. The waste of rice husk is potentially capable of improving the farmers’ economy amidst the people’s lack of knowledge about its potential to commercially produce charcoal briquettes from it, make it a plant growing medium, and change it into manure. This research aims at knowing if the training of recycling waste of rice husk can improve the farmers’ entrepreneurship motivation. The subjects of the research were farmers in groups at Bimomartani village, Ngemplak district, Sleman regency. They were 60 participants divided into experintal and control groups. The planned experiment used <em>untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples.</em> The <em>paired sample t-test</em> and <em>independent sample t-test</em> were used as the techniques of analysis in this research. The result of t-test on <em>paired sample t-test</em> for the experimental group resulted in the value of t = -6.659 with p = 0.000 (p&lt;0.01), which means there was a significant difference of entrepreneurship motivation before and after the training of recycling rice husk. The analysis for <em>Independent sample t-test</em> resulted in the value of t = 7.411 with p = 0.000 (p&lt;0.01), which means there was a significant difference of entrepreneurship motivation between experimental and control groups. It can be concluded that the training of recycling waste of rice husk was effective in improving the farmers’ entrepreneurship motivation.

Labor pain is a subjective experience of physical sensations associated with uterine contractions, cervical dilation and thinning, and fetal decline during labor. Severe pain condition during the first stage of labor allows mothers to tend to choose the easiest and fastest way to relieve pain. Efforts that can be made to deal with the first stage of labor pain are non-pharmacological methods, one of which is counter pressure massage. To determine the difference in pain before and after counter pressure massage in the active phase I labor pain. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest and posttest control group design. The sampling method was accidental sampling with a sample size of 15 people. Statistical test analysis using Dependent T-Test. The average labor pain before counter pressure massage was 3,600 with a standard deviation of 0.507 and after counter pressure massage the respondent's pain value was 2,666 with a standard deviation of 0.617, it was seen that there was a difference in value or decrease before and after the counter pressure massage was carried out, namely 0.933 with standard deviation of 0.258 and the statistical test results obtained p = 0.000. There was a significant difference between pain before and after counter pressure massage at Alin's Medical Clinic. It is hoped that health workers, especially midwives, can provide counter pressure massage to mothers who give birth in order to reduce morbidity and mortality in mothers. ABSTRAK Nyeri persalinan merupakan pengalaman subjektif tentang sensasi fisik yang terkait dengan kontraksi uterus, dilatasi dan penipisan serviks, serta penurunan janin selama persalinan. Kondisi Nyeri yang hebat pada kala I persalinan memungkinkan para ibu cenderung memilih cara yang paling gampang dan cepat untuk menghilangkan rasa nyeri. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi nyeri persalinan Kala I adalah dengan metode non farmakologis salah satunya dengan massage counter pressure. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan nyeri sebelum dan sesudah massage counter pressure pada nyeri persalinan kala I Fase Aktif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan one group pretest dan posttest desgn. Metode pengambilan sampel secara accidental sampling dengan jumlah sampel 15 orang. Analisis uji statistik menggunakan Dependent T-Test. Rata-rata nyeri persalinan sebelum dilakukan massage counter pressure adalah 3.600 dengan standar deviasi 0.507 dan setelah dilakukan massage counter pressure nilai nyeri responden yaitu 2.666 dengan standar deviasi 0.617, terlihat adanya perbedaan nilai atau penurunan sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan massage counter pressure yaitu 0.933 dengan standar deviasi 0.258 serta hasil uji statistik didapatkan p=0.000. Ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara nyeri sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan massage counter pressure di Alin’s Medical Clinic. Diharapkan petugas kesehatan terutama bidan dapat memberikan massage counter pressure pada ibu bersalin agar dapat mengurangi angka morbiditas dan mortalitas pada ibu

Background: The injury is still a major public health problem throughout the country, where two-thirds occur in developing countries, including Indonesia. In Indonesia, recorded injury cases in 2013 reached 84,277 people (8.2%). The negative impacts caused by the fracture appears, which includes; psychological, social, and spiritual. The Department of Health reported that 15% of patients experiencing psychological stress fractures to depression. Psychoeducation efficient in the treatment process and decrease the symptoms of depression that is a component in the psychological response on the existence of a disability condition. Aim: the research aimed todetermine the effectiveness of psychoeducation to the physical adaptation among fracture patients in public hospital of Jombang Method: this is a quasi-experiment research with pre-test and post-test control group design. There were 16 respondents in control group and another 16 respondents for intervention group which was gathered with consecutive sampling. The data were analyzed with parametric analysis using paired sample t-test dan independent t-test. For testing the data normality distribution, Shapiro-wilk analysis was operated. Result: Paired t test sample stated that there was significant difference in the physical adaptation among fracture patients before and after the intervention of psychoeducation (p value = 0,000 ; CI 95% <alpha = 0,05). In the unpaired t test was obtained p value = 0.000; CI 95% <alpha = 0.05, which indicates a significant difference of fracture patients’ adaptation who has given psychoeducation intervention and who has not. Conclusion: the psychoeducation intervention  increasedphysical adaptation among fracture patients. Nurses must continue to develop and apply the procedures for implementing psychoeducation fractures primarily in patients with the aim to improve the adaptability of fracture patients.

The antifungal effect of zirconium dioxide nanoparticles (ZrO2NPs) incorporated into denture base material has been inadequately investigated; additionally, to the authors’ knowledge, no studies have assessed the influence of artificial aging on the antifungal activity of these particles. Methodology. Heat-polymerized acrylic resin disks were fabricated and divided into four groups (0%, 1%, 2.5%, and 5% ZrO2NPs by weight). Antifungal activity was assessed using the direct culture and disk diffusion methods. Surface roughness and contact angles were measured using a profilometer and a goniometer, respectively. The artificial aging procedure was performed by repeating all tests at 7, 14, and 30 days following 2 rounds of thermocycling. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey’s post-hoc test ( p < 0.05 ). Results. The addition of ZrO2NPs significantly decreased the adhesion of Candida albicans with and without artificial aging procedures ( p < 0.001 ), while the disk diffusion methods did not reveal inhibition zones. ZrO2NP-modified specimens displayed significantly higher surface roughness compared to specimens in the control group ( p < 0.05 ) and showed the same behaviors with artificial aging procedures. The contact angle was significantly decreased in all modified groups in comparison to the control group ( p < 0.05 ). Conclusion. The addition of ZrO2NPs to polymethylmethacrylate denture base material reduced the adhesion of Candida albicans with a long-term antifungal effect. With the addition of ZrO2NPs, contact angles were decreased and surface roughness was increased; 1% was the most appropriate concentration. Clinical significance. The addition of ZrO2NPs to denture base material confers a long-term antifungal effect and could be used as a possible method for preventing and treating denture stomatitis.

One of stressor in college students is taking a final project as a graduation requirement. The body'sresponse toward stress includes a rise of heart rate, diarrhea and insomnia. One of stressmanagement is affirmation relaxation (AR) technique. This research aimed to analyze the influenceof AR technique towards stress on students who take a final project in Faculty of Nursing, UniversityOf Jember. This research used a quasi experiment with Pretest-Post test approach and controlgroup design. Sampling technique that used is purposive sampling with respondent divided into twogroups, the treatment group and control group with 15 respondents for each group. Data wasanalyzed by using Dependent t test and Independent t test with 95% CI. The result showed thatthere was a significant difference stress before and after given AR technique within average 19,2 to10,87 (p = 0,001). Mean while, there was no significant difference of stress between pretest and posttest in control group within average 18,73 to 18,4 (p = 0,841). Overall, there was a difference ofstress between treatment group and control group (p =0,02, α = 0,05). The AR techniques reducestress because it can influence the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves to produce endorphinehormone. The conclusion of this research is there was an influence of AR technique towards stresson students who Taking a Final Project in Faculty of Nursing University of Jember.Keywords: affirmation relaxation technique, stress, final project.
