The spatial distribution of daily rainfall persistence is examined adopting Besson's persistence coefficient and using daily rainfall data for 15 consecutive years (1971-1985). The daily rainfall persistence coefficients have been studied separately for all the twelve months individually and for the whole year. Where January and February indicate the lowest rainfall persistence coefficients the period from October to December indicates the highest coefficients over Sri Lanka. Besides the monsoonal atmospheric conditions, the topography has a strong influence on the rainfall persistence distribution over space and time. The daily rainfall persistence coefficients record higher values in the wet zone then in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. Regression analysis shows a better linear relationship between mean length of wet spell~ and the daily rainfall persistence coefficients and the resultant final equation is y.4' =0.1093+0.1600+X M having the correlation coefficient of 0.721 which is significant at the 0.01% level.

Indonesia's development requires educated, skilled, innovative, independent souls, physically and mentally healthy. Entrepreneurship education is very important to be taught to students so that after finishing college they can create jobs instead of looking for work. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning Entrepreneurship courses on student entrepreneurial motivation. Entrepreneurship is a mental and mental attitude that is always active in trying to advance its devotional work in an effort to increase income in its business activities. While motivation is something that encourages someone to act or behave in a certain way to meet their needs. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a sample of 40 respondents and data collection techniques using questionnaires. The results of this study are simple linear regression analysis calculated as follows: Y = Y ̌ = 21.31 + 0.502 X, the correlation coefficient (r) between the variables X and Y is obtained by the correlation coefficient of 0.70. This value indicates that the two variables have a positive and strong influence. the magnitude of the effect of learning Entrepreneurship courses on student entrepreneurial motivation is 49%, while the remaining 51% is influenced by other factors not included in this research variable. Furthermore, it is known that there is a positive and significant influence on student entrepreneurial motivation, because the value of tcount is greater than the value of ttable (6.039> 2.024) then Ha is accepted.

Abstract The commencement, termination and length of the major (Maha) growing season over the dry zone of Sri Lanka were determined using daily rainfall records from 1981 to 2019 of five meteorological stations (Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota, Puttalam and Batticaloa). Cumulative percentages of daily rainfall were plotted against the time and maximum positive and maximum negative curvatures were derived as the commencement and termination dates of the season. A Gaussian model was fitted on the cumulative distribution curve in order to remove limitations in deriving maximum positive and maximum negative curvatures. The difference between commencement and termination dates were taken as the length of the growing season. Results disclosed that there is a considerable inter-annual variation of commencement and termination dates and the length of the Maha season. Mean commencement and termination dates fall in the standard week 44.04±2.61 (end of October) and 5.10±4.20 (1st week of February). The average seasonal length is 13.7±4.24 weeks. Terminating date acts as the key determinant of the seasonal length. Any significant (p > 0.05) trend could not be observed for commencement, termination and length of the season for the analyzed period in any of the locations. It can be concluded that cumulative distribution of rainy days can be successfully used to determine commencement and termination dates of the Maha season over the dry zone of Sri Lanka where a single peak rainy period is available. However, the method needs modifications, when it applies in wet zone of the country where bimodal rainfall pattern is prominent.

This research focused on the effect of scouting extracurricular on the students’ discipline at SDN 4 Abuan. The subjects in this study were 25 students of SD Negeri 4 Abuan. Data were obtained through a questionnaire. Then, the data were analyzed by the correlation analysis of causal relationships with SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Science) version 25.0 and the results of the analysis were quantitative scores. The results obtained that scouting extracurricular significantly influenced the students’ discipline at SD Negeri 4 Abuan, Kecamatan Susut, Kabupaten Bangli. This conclusion was supported by the average score obtained from the students which were 80.13 and 81.30 (Excellent). In addition, it was found that the influence of scouting extracurricular on students’ discipline had a positive and significant effect. This was indicated by the correlation coefficient for 0.925 or 92.5%  meaning that the score was at an interval of 0.80-1.00. Thus, there was a very strong influence between variable X (Extracurricular Scout) and Y (Student Discipline) and the results of the test results (sig. 2-tailed (0.05)) resulted in a figure of 0,000 so that this number was less than the significance value of 0.05 (0,000 <0.005). this indicated that there was a positive and significant effect between the two variables. Based on the results of the correlation coefficient (R) data analysis, simple linear regression analysis and the significance test (T test), it was concluded that the extracurricular positively and significantly influenced the students’ discipline at SD Negeri 4 Abuan, Kecamatan Susut, Kabupaten Bangli.

Five new species of geckos are described from Sri Lanka by morphological comparison and morphometric analysis leading to review the genus Cnemaspis in the country. The type series of these species were identified from following localities: C. alwisi and C. kumarasinghei from the intermediate zone, C. retigalensis from the dry zone, C. molligodai from the lowland wet zone and C. samanalensis from the mountain region of the wet zone in the country. The high degree of endemicity (90%) shown by Cnemaspis in Sri Lanka could be attributed to geographical isolation. In addition, the taxonomic issue of C. jerdonii scalpensis is discussed and the species C. scalpensis is errected.

The present paper seeks to investigate the Machiavellianism in relation with Emotional Intelligence among Adolescents. It was hypothesized that Machiavellianism and Emotional Intelligence would be negatively correlated and Emotional Intelligence would be a significant contributor in predicting variance in Machiavellianism. In order to test the hypothesis 240 adolescents (120 females and 120 males) in the age range of 13 to 18 years were selected through random sampling. The measures used were Machiavellianism Scale (Mach IV Scale) and Modified Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (Schutte 1998). The correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to assess the data. The results revealed significant and negative relationship between Machiavellianism and Emotional Intelligence .Emotional Intelligence emerged as a significant predictor of Machiavellianism. Thus, considering the possibility that individuals might have a dispositional tendency to emotionally manipulative behaviour immediately brings to mind the trait of Machiavellianism.

In several regions of the dry zone of Sri Lanka, excessive quantities of fluoride (F-) in groundwater have affected the water quality significantly. Apart from the well-known prevalence of dental fluorosis, Chronic Kidney Disease of uncertain etiology (CKDu) is widespread in different pockets in the dry zone of Sri Lanka [1]. Fluoride is one of the substances suspected of being causative of CKDu in the area. Since the kidneys retain more F- than in any other soft tissue and excess F- exposure can cause kidney disease. Within the same zone, the prevalence of CKDu varies by geographic area in a ground water and spatial distribution of selected trace elements in groundwater. The optimum F- level in drinking water, according to WHO guidelines, is 1.5 (mg/L); however, due to the unfavorable climatic conditions that exist in tropical countries, people ingest more water than normal intake, resulting in a high F- intake. The source of F- is geogenic. It has been found that the F- content of basement rocks ranges from 9.5×10-5 to 1.44×10-3 kg/L in the region [3]. Farmers consume about 2-3 liters of water a day to quench their thirst, resulting in a daily F- intake of 3×10-3-1×10-2 kg/L [4].
