The aim of this chapter is to look more closely at the impact that the crisis generated by the SARS-CoV-2 is having on health, the economy and education in the field of dentistry. The considerations that must be taken into account in dental practice will be presented, as well as the usefulness that the use of teledentistry (TD) could have in times of pandemic, reflecting on the different specialties of dentistry that can benefit from this modality, as well as the advantages and disadvantages that its use can present. Likewise, teaching has been condemned to a lack of presence, having to resort to distance learning, both synchronous and non-synchronous, which can cause needs and deficiencies in undergraduate and postgraduate students. We will analyse the health risks in the dental field and the changes and needs for safe dentistry in times of pandemic. We will also break down the effect of the crisis on the medical-dental sector and the economy, from the point of view of patients and professionals, especially in times of increased restriction and confinement worldwide.

The article contains the description of the bases and starting points of primary physical education and sports day in Slovenia and other European countries. It presents the motivational point of view of the students at the implementation of distance learning for a sports day. There is a graphic display of the results of an online survey that was carried out among teachers and students of Komen primary school, branch of Štanjel. Fifty students from the 1st to 6th grade and 7 teachers took part in the survey. The purpose of the article is the research about what influences the motivation of students in distance learning. From the collected data it was found out that the ICT and interdisciplinary connection have played the most important role in the implementation of the sports day. The answers of the teachers show that besides the ICT devices, the weather, the family and interdisciplinary connections are the main motivators for the children. The students were very motivated at the implementation of the distance sports day. The teachers, as well as students, have found advantages and disadvantages in the organization of a distance sports day.

The Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) recently released Statement No. 45, Accounting and Financial Reporting by Employers for Post-Employment Benefits Other Than Pensions and its companion Statement No. 43 for pooled stand-alone health care plans, which will profoundly affect American governmental finance. The goal of this article is to encourage governments to consider carefully a full range of options in funding and restructuring other post-employment benefits (OPEB). This article will review Statement No. 45's potential impact on governments and review existing disclosures in financial reports as well as bond offering statements. The article will discuss the statement's impact on budgets and governmental operations, including collective bargaining. Funding options under Statement No. 45 will be detailed, including the advantages and disadvantages of irrevocable trusts and OPEB bonds. The article will also discuss the impact of Medicare Part D subsidies received by governments, as well as the bond rating implications of policy decisions surrounding OPEB. As the largest government entities are just now implementing GASB Statement No. 45, estimates of the magnitude of unfunded OPEB liabilities are limited as are the strategies likely to be adopted to cover these obligations. This article offers a summary of the unfunded OPEB liabilities reported by states and major cities and suggests some measures for assessing the ability of these entities to address these costs.

This study aimed to analyze the context of fair value measurements of biological assets under the accounting professionals’ perspective from the Brazilian sugarcane sector. Secondly, verifying the existence of clusters among the participants of the study and also checking whether or not there is a relationship between the accounting professional’s profile and his perception of the impacts on the measurement of biological assets. A field study was carried out utilizing a survey with qualitative and quantitative approach, involving cluster analysis, content analysis and Fisher’s exact test, considering a population sample of 32 accounting professionals from the sector. From the cluster analysis it was possible to identify the existence of three professional groups with similar characteristics of profile and perception of impacts brought by IAS nº 41. The quantitative analysis shows that the professionals that work in plants located in states with high or low concentration of sugarcane productive chain perceive the rule distinctively. The qualitative analysis suggest that there are two views, one against and the other in favor of the rule, showing that there is not a consensus when it comes to enforcing the rule in the sector. As few studies attempt to analyze the impact, advantages and disadvantages from the accountant’s point of view, this study contributes to fill out this gap. This study offers insights to the governing entities on the necessity of a greater practical detailing and problems related to the acceptance of the rule in Brazil.

Purpose This paper aims to evaluate the impact of Federal University of Bahia’s Business Administration graduate programs on graduates’ competency, career and income development. Design/methodology/approach It is a descriptive study, for which a survey was applied and the data were analyzed using quantitative techniques (descriptive analysis, factorial analysis, t-test, Mann–Whitney test and regression analysis). Data collection was conducted through an electronic questionnaire sent to the graduates in the period between 1998 and 2012. Findings The results show that in general, the research participants perceive competency, career and income development after the course. At the same time, a comparison between the graduates of academic and professional axes (courses) was carried out, and in general, there is a certain similarity between perceptions. Originality/value This research contributes to the theoretical field on evaluation of graduates, both from a methodological point of view, because of conducted statistical analysis that is complementary to other methods used, and from a practical point of view, as it offers redesign and improvement elements to the program’s curricula and teaching-learning methodologies so that it can maximize competency development, career and income of graduates.

AIM: To scope future needs of the NZ Pacific primary care workforce. METHOD: Semi-structured interviews with key informants including Pacific primary care workers in both Pacific and mainstream primary health care organisations and managers at funding, policy and strategy levels. Qualitative thematic analysis using general inductive approach. RESULTS: Thirteen stakeholders interviewed (four males, nine females) in 2006. Included both NZ- and Island-born people of Samoan, Tongan, Niuean, Fijian and NZ European ethnicities; age 20–65 years. Occupations included general practitioner, practice nurse, community worker, Ministry of Health official and manager representing mainstream and Pacific-specific organisations. Key themes were significant differences in attributes, needs and values between ‘traditional’ and contemporary Pacific people; issues regarding recruitment and retention of Pacific people into the primary health care workforce; importance of cultural appropriateness for Pacific populations utilising mainstream and Pacific-specific primary care services and both advantages and disadvantages of ‘Pacific for Pacific’ services. CONCLUSION: Interviews demonstrated heterogeneity of Pacific population regarding ethnicity, age, duration of NZ residence and degree of immersion in their culture and language. Higher rates of mental disorder amongst NZ-born Pacific signpost urgent need to address the impact of Western values on NZ-born Pacific youth. Pacific population growth means increasing demands on health services with Pacific worker shortages across all primary health care occupations. However it is not possible for all Pacific people to be treated by Pacific organisations and/or by Pacific health workers and services should be culturally competent regardless of ethnicity of providers. Although the World Scientific Society of Educators does not yet have sufficient evidence to measure the impact of school attendance on the risk of disease transmission, the harmful effects of a full transition to distance education are indisputable and affect the safety, well-being and education of children / students. and documents of many states. The purpose of the article is to determine the risks of the absence of a traditional educational process in educational institutions during the Covid-19 pandemic using the materials of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The study was based on the following theoretical methods: analytical and descriptive methods of developing theoretical and critical sources and resources related to the implementation of the educational process, in order to determine the risks associated with providing distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Analysis of contextual benefits and risks allows to determine the priority of educational institutions (or their components) to resume their work; priority of measures to reduce the risk of infection in educational institutions and communities; and focus areas for distance learning. Direct funding for education institutions most affected by the crisis, for example through formula-based funding, which gives priority to the most marginalized groups of pupils / students. From the point of view of mechanisms, scholarships for certain blocks and remittances (conditional or unconditional) to pupils / students should be considered. Tuition and other costs (school uniforms, etc.) should be waived where possible and other barriers to entry should be removed to maximize re-enrollment. We see prospects for further research in the analysis of ensuring the availability of educational materials / platforms, information, services and learning tools for people with disabilities in the process of obtaining education.

The article is devoted to the problem of distance education, namely training and educating under conditions of the pandemic. The issue of the coronavirus epidemic, which forced the urgent restructuring of all spheres of social life of people around the world, is addressed in the article. As a result, the problem of the global transition to distance learning under severe quarantine is becoming urgent. The author analyzes domestic and foreign pedagogical experience of distance education. Among domestic authors this problem was studied by Gorbatyuk R. M, Turanov Y. O., Rak V. I., Vdovenko I. S., Bodnar S. V., Dekusar G. G., Kuznetsova O. V., Opanasenko Ya. Foreign researchers (Amanda Morin, Berman Grace, and Dubinsky Alison) are more likely to point out that distance learning is associated with many difficulties. The aim of our study was to highlight the problem of distance learning in the quarantine period, its advantages and disadvantages over traditional learning, as well as a comparative analysis of the traditional and distance forms of educational activities. In the process of solving problems, theoretical research methods were used: analysis, systematization, classification of educational and methodological literature to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations of research, surveys, analysis of the products of the students’ pedagogical activities. The article presents data from the study of the groups consisting of first- and fifth-year students who studied in different periods: in the first half of 2019, when the study was in classrooms, and in the first half of 2020 during the quarantine, when the study was carried out using distance education. The data according to three criteria: academic success, students’ attendance and students’ satisfaction with the learning process were analyzed by the author. A comparative analysis of the traditional and distance learning is shown in the article. Some conclusions about the ambiguity of the impact of distance learning on different contingents of students have been made.

In a dynamic crisis situation such as the current one, the forecasts for the impact of COVID-19 on the world economy and the development of individual countries and cities are constantly changing. The impact of COVID-19 has turned many industries upside down in unexpected ways. More organizations switch to remote working environments for their employees due to the current world health crisis. The purpose of this article is to outline the opportunities and challenges facing Bulgarian employees working from home during the MarchApril 2020 state of mergency and beyond. We discuss the many advantages and disadvantages of remote work from an individual point of view.

The aim of this article was to provide evidence-based information for the oral health-care providers to better understand the COVID-19 disease and be prepared to treat their patients. The impact of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 pandemic has been unprecedented, especially in health care. Overwhelming amount of information flooded the literature to the point that dentists and specialists alike might feel more confused than knowledgeable, which can make decision-making a challenge. Dental community is no stranger to infection control and to treat patients with highly infectious diseases. With careful planning, modifications, and sound clinical judgment, it is certainly feasible to provide routine care to the patients during the pandemic and serve the community. Negative pressure ventilation operatories and/or air purifiers are good addition to contain the droplet transmitted diseases including COVID-19. It is of particular importance for health-care providers to take appropriate measures to minimize the risk of infection to their patients, themselves, and other members of the dental team.
