By adapting insights and methodologies from design thinking, a modern scientific R&D organization may have the potential to increase the speed, inventiveness and vitality of their output and become an explosive engine of growth. Modern design consultancies face the challenge of producing original, creative work for their clients on project after project, and have thus developed several strategies and behaviors to produce innovative content repeatedly at a fast pace. The innovation strategies of design firms are different than traditional models of academic and scientific scholarship and rely on new models of radical collaboration by teams, knowledge sharing, wide-reaching cross-pollination and the habit of gaining early insights through tangible expressions of ideas in order to foster continual and rapid innovation.

Fierce competition has made innovation increasingly necessary for business success, and this has increased the importance of user-based innovation strategies like design thinking (DT). While many studies in technical and professional communication (TPC) have explored how DT can be used pedagogically, no studies have done this through investigating how DT is used as a workplace composing process. This study does exactly that. First, it presents the current state of research on pedagogical uses of DT in TPC, and then it builds upon those suggestions with an empirical study that chronicles on how two web design firms use DT to make websites. My main suggestion is to teach DT as a recursive process that allows students transcend potentially incorrect assumptions built into design tasks through gathering data not only from users, but from clients as well.

The article deals with the search for a graphic style for the Kharkiv Art School for the 100th anniversary of Hudprom (the previous informal name of KSADA). Based on a study of Ukrainian font tradition, a visual image was found that links different generations of Kharkiv artists. The author of the article shows how the bridge between the Kubo-Futuristic finds of Kharkiv art-craftsmen Vasyl Yermilov, Borys Kosarev and modern design thinking was stretched in the development of inscriptions and signs. The features of working with typographic and aesthetic clusters to reveal the identity of time and place in graphic design are described. A variable font has been developed, combining both grotesque and avant-garde forms and more plastic historical graphemes based on cursive heritage. The flower of Kosarev, which has become a graphic image of the academy, simultaneously in different contexts and compositional solutions embodies the flourishing Ukrainian modernism (historical background), as well as represents the modern multimedia postmodernist pattern.

GeoDesign Laboratory – a concept of a space for creative work on the Campus of the 600th Anniversary of the Jagiellonian University Revival GeoDesign is a set of techniques and technologies allowing to combine geographic analysis with the design process. It has an interdisciplinary character and is used to create projects of both natural and socio-cultural nature, on the basis of which it is possible to make the most rational decisions. As part of creating a sustainable Campus of the 600th Anniversary of the Jagiellonian University Revival, and at the same time in response to the prevailing trends in planning space for education and communicating the values of higher education, a concept of creating a geodesign laboratory will be presented. It is designed for the community of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and, more broadly, for the Faculty of Geography and Geology of our University. Scientific research confirms the effectiveness of space organized so as to stimulate creativity, encourage teamwork, and give an opportunity to apply methods in the field of geodesign, design thinking and learning by doing. Creating space for design activities is a noticeable trend at modern universities. The publication presents several examples of spaces with a similar function from Poland and abroad. The last part of the article presents a proposal of the appearance and functioning of the designed space for creative work. W ramach tworzenia zrównoważonego kampusu, a jednocześnie w odpowiedzi na panujące trendy w planowaniu przestrzeni do edukacji i komunikowania wartości szkolnictwa wyższego, zostanie zaprezentowana koncepcja utworzenia laboratorium geodesignu. Jest ono projektowane na potrzeby społeczności Instytutu Geografii i Gospodarki Przestrzennej Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego i szerzej – Wydziału Geografii i Geologii naszej Uczelni. Badania naukowe potwierdzają efektywność przestrzeni zorganizowanej tak, aby pobudzała kreatywność, zachęcała do pracy zespołowej, dawała możliwość zastosowania metod z zakresu geodesign, design thinking i learning by doing. Tworzenie przestrzeni do działań projektowych jest zauważalnym trendem na współczesnych uniwersytetach. W publikacji zaprezentowano kilka przykładów przestrzeni o podobnej funkcji z Polski i z zagranicy. W ostatniej części artykułu przedstawiono propozycję wyglądu i sposobu funkcjonowania projektowanej przestrzeni do pracy kreatywnej.

This research aims to measure the impact of authentic leadership in cognitive sharing through the application of creative work behaviors at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Baghdad. In order to achieve this, the dimensions of authentic leadership, namely (self-awareness, perspective of self-ethical behavior, transparency of relationships, balanced treatment) The dimensions of cognitive sharing (knowledge sharing, knowledge collection) while the dimensions of creative work behaviors (generating an idea, promoting an idea, realizing the idea) and the leader-member exchange theory so that to test the hypotheses of the study. The non-probabilistic (convenience) sample was used on (84) employees – out of the total participants number of (275) of the senior and middle administration (directors, heads) of the Ministry of Social Affairs operating in Baghdad, as a questionnaire of (100) copies was distributed on the study sample, where (91) copies were retrieved, i.e. (91%) with (9) not recovered, After examining the retrieved copies it was shown that (7) of them were not valid, thus making (84) the valid number of the total copies, A number of descriptive statistical methods were also used to analyze the data collected along with the AMOS and SPSS V.23 statistical analyses software. The results showed a positive relation between the authentic leadership and the cognitive sharing. The results also showed that the creative work behavior played a partial mediation between authentic leadership and knowledge sharing, so based on these results, theoretical and applicable contents were presented in order to have the results of the study generalized.
