This article will address the presence of digital Media Out of Home (DOOH) in the daily life of Brazilian society at the beginning of the 21st century, in order to reflect on possible alternatives to the use and management of these media that point to the democratization and decolonization of the communication system. As DOOH can be considered all media that are outside the home space. Also called outdoor media, this type of media has become a media phenomenon in informational cities of the 21st century, making itself noted in different circumstances in the daily life of Brazilian society, installing itself both in internal environments of more restricted public (indoor media), as in screens and external panels available to the general public (outdoor). However, despite the varied power of use of these media, it is in the field of advertising and marketing that its most significant results are currently verified. This type of media, therefore, ends up having its use very destined for market purposes, overshadowing other possibilities of use and management model, which will be raised in our study. To develop this work, we will have as main theoretical references the concepts of massive and post-massive function, André Lemos, convergence, Jenkins, and communication ecosystem, as understood in PPGCCOM/AM-BR.

Intellectual Property is continuously present in different manifestations of daily life. However, not all people fully understand what this means, especially for authors of artistic or scientific creations, or for inventors. Given this scenario, it is essential to claim the role of the creator and its economic impact on society; in order to increase the incentives to materialize creative ideas of the human intellect that, inevitably, contribute to the production of science and culture.

AbstractAs policymakers and school communities work to address underlying causes of achievement gaps and access to quality early childhood education, this study considers the use of 21st Century Community Learning Centers to address early childhood education needs on western U.S. state, Idaho. The study sought to understand the relationship between federal and state policies related to out-of-school opportunities to enhance early childhood education. Utilizing data from a statewide evaluation of Idaho’s 21st Century Learning Centers, the study examined 92 centers providing after school, before school, or summer programs in grades preschool through the third grade to predominately at-risk children. Data collection included quantitative data from a survey given to parents (n = 183), as well as qualitative data collected through site-based interviews, focus groups and observations. Data included a review of historical and current data on participation rates; attendance rates; standardized test scores for program participants in grades PK-3 (n = 3258). Data were analyzed for themes and transfer. The study findings provide further insight into understanding possible relationships between U.S. federal and state policy regarding 21st Century Community Learning Centers on both students’ outcomes and parent satisfaction. The findings further support the role of out-of-school time (OST) experiences in the larger ecosystem of learning and provides insight into understanding how the OST activities are carried over into family life.

On October 10, 2012 controversial online figure “Violentacrez” was doxxed1 by Gawker writer Adrien Chen and his true identity was shared with the general public. This MRP traces the development of the discussion on Reddit surrounding the doxxing from October 10, 2012 until October 18, 2012. Discussion is tracked by examining posts and comments gleaned from Reddit, and it is supported by an analysis of the structures that regulate user action on the Reddit platform. In a larger context, this MRP will show that users are engaging in collaborative, iterative and alternative practices--creating multi-layered documents and building upon the work of their predecessors. As well as offering insight into user action, an analysis of Reddit discussion will show the kinds of meanings being created within this online community.

International negotiations are an essential part of the European Union’s (EU) external affairs. A key aspect to negotiations is access to and sharing of information among the EU institutions involved as well as to the general public. Oversight of negotiations requires insight into the topics of negotiation, the positions taken and the strategies employed. Concurrently, however, some space for confidentiality is necessary for conducting the negotiations and defending EU interests without fully revealing the limit negotiating positions of the EU to the negotiating partner. Hence, attaining a balance between the necessities of oversight and confidentiality in negotiations is the subject of a dynamic debate between the EU institutions. This paper provides a joint analysis on EU oversight institutions’ position on transparency in international negotiations. We set out to answer whether parliamentary, judicial and administrative branches of oversight are allies in pursuing the objectives of transparency but also examine when their positions diverge.

Satisfaction of students of higher educational institutions with their professional activities in todays reality is one of the key indicators which diagnoses the quality of specialists training and efficiency of professional competence development. Satisfaction assumes personal students inclusion in educational process which is inseparably linked with the personality relation to the quality of these or those objects, to living conditions and activity as well as to himself or herself. The assessment is the most important element of the emotional sphere of the person, emotions stimulate motivation to activity. We understand the integrated characteristic including motivational and emotional spheres of the personality as satisfaction. This estimated relations between trainers according to the activity which they carry out, its results and implementation conditions. Vocational training of cadets is carried out in specific conditions of their stay in barracks on the territory of departmental higher education institution. In the integrated characteristic of satisfaction of trainees vocational training included three criteria: satisfaction with the educational process; satisfaction with extracurricular activities; relationship satisfaction. The first criterion contains satisfaction: 1) organization of educational process; 2) level of teachers professionalism; 3) quality of teaching. We put satisfaction indicators into the second criterion: 1) organization of work of circles, sections and clubs; 2) organization of sports and mass actions; 3) organization of events which help to develop professional competence of a future officer of Penitentiary system. The third criterion assumes satisfaction with relations with teachers, with collective and the direct management. Questioning of the 2nd and the 5th year cadets of Samara Law Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia showed that by the 5th course the positive tendency in a satisfaction assessment is found with vocational training. The criterion satisfaction with extracurricular activities needs a separate additional analysis, as by the 5th course the amount of students satisfied with circles, sections and clubs is less than a third of a total number of the course students. By the third criterion some complexity in relationship with the direct management (with commanders of front divisions) is found out and it also should become a subject of special additional consideration.
