The extension of the model refers to the clear definition of business objectives, and the requirements of the CEO that leaders must have the highest knowledge and skills to effectively manage staff in given situations. Kurt Lewin’s (1890-1947) democratic style of leadership was infused into his methods and research. Lewin’s democratic style combines degrees of leadership and freedom as an effective situational model. Applying democratic principles throughout his career, he documented reliable results such as increases in industrial performance and successful implementation of change. This article reintroduces Lewin’s “leadership as a triangle” concept and explores those implications with explanations from Lewin’s own action research and illustrations from the author’s OD practice. It should be noted that Lewin’s social science was a system, and that the democratic leadership style should be understood within the broader framework of Lewin’s field theory and other constructs, an exploration beyond the current scope. Nonetheless, Lewin’s leadership model holds clear implications for research and practice regarding leadership, change, engagement, and other contemporary concerns.

The existence of a kiai as the leader of the pesantren is very decisive in the activities of mobilizing or motivating the members of the pesantren he leads, the kiai must be able to take actions that are always directed at achieving the goals of the pesantren organization. From here comes a leadership style that must be used as an appropriate strategy for running a pesantren organization, especially in terms of fostering the spiritual intelligence of its students. The Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) that must be possessed by students is the intelligence to place the attitudes and behavior of students who are able to implement and practice the knowledge of religion and the values contained in religion in accordance with Allah's orders and the Example of Rosululloh SAW. Spiritual intelligence (SQ) is needed to judge that one's actions or way of life are more meaningful than others. One of the leadership models that can be adopted by kiai is situational leadership whose implementation is tailored to the situation at hand. Hersey and Blanchard (1982: 180) say "there is no one best way to influence people's behavior, which leadership style a person will apply to people or groups of people depending on the level of maturity of the people who will be influenced by the leader." . Furthermore, Hersey and Blanchard (1982: 180) explain the level of maturity of those who are led to give rise to four leadership styles, namely: telling (telling), selling (selling), participating, delegating (delegating). Referring to the leadership model above, using a descriptive qualitative approach, the researcher conducted research on Kiai's Situational Leadership in Fostering the Spiritual Intelligence of the Santri. Case Studies at Daarul Mughni Al-Maaliki Islamic Boarding School Bogor and At-Tawaazun Islamic Boarding School Subang, West Java.

Abstract In contrast to quantitative studies that rely on numerical data to highlight racial disparities in police street checks, this article offers a qualitative methodology for examining how histories of anti-Blackness configure civilians’ experiences of present-day policing. Taking the Halifax Street Checks Report as our primary object of analysis, we apply an innovative dermatological approach, demonstrating how skin itself becomes meaningful when police officers and civilians make contact in the process of a street check. We explore how street checks become an occasion for epidermalization, whereby a law enforcement practice projects onto the skins of civilians locally specific histories and emotions. To think with skin, we focus on the narratives shared by African Nova Scotians, a group that has been street checked at higher rates than their white counterparts. By doing so, we argue that current debates about police street checks in Halifax must attend to the emotional stakes of police-initiated encounters in order to fully appreciate the lived experience of street checks for Black civilians.

We examine the cost of leaders changing between empowering and directive leadership styles on team outcomes. In a laboratory experiment, we collected data from 240 participants in 80 teams. Confederates enacted different leadership styles and led teams of participants in performing a series of tasks. When leaders changed their style from directive to empowering, teams took time to respond in terms of higher satisfaction with leader and affective commitment. However, when leaders changed their style from empowering to directive, the deterioration of satisfaction with leader and reduction in affective commitment were immediate. Moreover, teams of leaders who had been consistently directive showed higher affective commitment as compared to teams of leaders who had a history of being empowering but later shifted to being directive. First time managers can get inputs on how they should enact their leadership style and be aware that switching between styles may impose long-term costs on the team’s affective commitment and satisfaction with the leader.

For the construction of the scale three phases were performed in which different experts assessed the adequacy of the items. Finally, the psychometric properties of the final version were studied in a sample of 314 consumers (69.1% women) aged between 18 and 77 with an average of 39.33 years (SD=12.25).Findings: The scale presents adequate validity and reliability, being a useful tool for measuring the interaction in Supervised Classes.Research limitations/implications: The sampling, non-probabilistic or convenience, have taken the sample of a unique sports facility and the small sample size.Practical implications: The ISCS allows managers to receive better feedback, allowing them to obtain deeper insight into the quality and satisfaction of the service. According to its results, the managers may implement different strategies to improve quality in a key service within sports centers.Originality/value: For the first time the interaction between customers and between customers and employees is evaluated both inside and outside the center, a topic that had not yet been studied in the scientific literature.
