The World Trade Organization (WTO) Panel Report in Australia – Anti-Dumping Measures on A4 Copy Paper (Australia – A4 Copy Paper) marks a significant development of the multilateral rules on anti-dumping. Under certain circumstances, WTO agreements permit members to impose anti-dumping measures to counteract the injurious effect of dumping on domestic industries, typically through import duties. The Report is the first to examine in detail when an anti-dumping authority may determine that a “particular market situation” exists in the country of exportation under Article 2.2 of the WTO Anti-Dumping Agreement, potentially justifying the imposition of elevated remedial duties. The Report also develops the jurisprudence on how such remedies may be calculated, expounding the use of benchmark costs for the calculation of a constructed normal value (CNV) under Article 2.2.1.1. These doctrinal questions are central to the longstanding debate over how far the Anti-Dumping Agreement allows anti-dumping measures against state intervention and market distortions. On both fronts, the Australia – A4 Copy Paper panel created flexibilities for WTO members to respond to government-induced distortions. In doing so, the Report deviates considerably from the course set by the Appellate Body in the landmark EU – Biodiesel decision, which seemed to confine anti-dumping measures to responding to private action. At the same time, the panel left open several important issues relating to the adoption of CNVs and the use of benchmarks for their calculation, leaving wide latitude for investigating authorities to inflate dumping margins in practice.

Alcoholism of long standing is the major cause of acute pancreatitis. Ethanol is well recognized as a chemical toxin, but a significant injurious effect on pancreatic acinar or duct cells has yet to be demonstrated. It also stimulates secretion from small intestine, which triggers the exocrine pancreas to release pancreatic juice. When these effects occur together the results may be disastrous. Homoeopathic management needs accurate data collection, to exact assessment of the state and stage of disease with awareness of developing complications. Arriving at exact simillimum in acute state with definition of susceptibility and assessment of remedy response needs close observation and monitoring. Having an inpatient department set up manned by PG student is an asset for this management. Case study demonstrates this effort by the team.

Background: Chronic stress elevates the cortisol beyond normal levels, which affects cognition including learning & memory. This injurious effect is primarily mediated via over excitation of metabotropic glucocorticoid receptors (mGR). Methods: The present study was aimed appraise the neuroprotective effects of naturally occurring molecule β-1,3-glucan by interfering with stress-cortisol-mGR axis. Our data of virtual screening (in silico) exhibited the promising interactions of βglucan with the mGR. Therefore, the study was extended to evaluate its efficacy (2.5, 5 and 10 mg/kg/ i.p) in an animal model of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS, 28 days) induced memory impairment. Results: Results of the current study revealed the β-glucan provided dose dependent protection against deleterious effects of stress on learning and memory associated parameters observed in Morris water maze (MWM) task. At higher tested doses, it has also significantly antagonized the stress induced weight loss and corticosterone elevation. Conclusion: From these findings, it can be deduced that the β-glucan possesses therapeutic potential against stress induced memory impairment, and this effect can be attributed to its normalizing effect on corticosterone levels.

Based on the analysis of existing developments in the field of psychological rehabilitation of combatants, as well as own empirical research on the problem of combat psychological traumatization of individuals, the author has elaborated and presented own program “Decompression”. Measures of psychological work of this program are designed for three or four days. Participation involves the employees of the units (all of them), who had suffered psychological traumatic events: death, injury, injurious effect of a person; stay in isolation (in captivity, hostage, surrounded); work with the remnants of human bodies; prolonged stay in the conditions of the operation of the United Forces, staying under the fire of the enemy, the use of weapons to defeat the enemy. It is envisaged that during the period of decompression, the employees (combatants) should be involved in a dynamic, not boring and uncomplicated activity. Experience shows that if servicemen do nothing during this period, this will greatly contribute to the development of negative individual and group experiences and conditions, the occurrence of misconduct, drunkenness, drug addiction, etc. This program contains a set of group and individual work methods, namely: debriefing, aimed at switching the minds of employees (combatants) from the zone of extreme conditions to the usual life, receiving relief, reducing the feeling of uniqueness and abnormality of own reactions, reducing internal tension, reducing the severity of psychological consequences after experienced stress; sessions of psycho-emotional self-regulation; treatment measures; individual psychological counseling. At the end of the work, a conclusion-prognosis is drawn up for each employee who participated in the mental health restoration program “Decompression’ and recommendations on the possibility of further admission to the independent performance of the tasks of the service, the need for medical supervision, treatment, rehabilitation, enrollment in the group of strengthened psychological attention, etc. are provided.

Recent advances in cancer prevention and management have led to an exponential increase of cancer survivors worldwide. Regrettably, cardiovascular disease has risen in the aftermath as one of the most devastating consequences of cancer therapies. In this work, we define cancer therapeutics-induced cardiotoxicity as the direct or indirect cardiovascular injury or injurious effect caused by cancer therapies. We describe four progressive stages of this condition and four corresponding levels of prevention, each having a specific goal, focus, and means of action. We subsequently unfold this didactic framework, surveying mechanisms of cardiotoxicity, risk factors, cardioprotectants, biomarkers, and diagnostic imaging modalities. Finally, we outline the most current evidence-based recommendations in this area according to multidisciplinary expert consensus guidelines.

AbstractBackground:A large proportion of patients with vocal fold polyps are cigarette smokers. However, prior to this report no comparative study of polyp histopathology in smokers versus non-smokers had been performed.Methods:A prospective histopathological study of vocal fold polyps excised from 29 patients was undertaken. This comprised a comparative analysis of polyp histopathology in smokers versus non-smokers and a review of the pertinent literature.Results:Vocal fold polyps were larger in smokers than in non-smokers. Histopathological features significantly associated with the polyps of smokers versus those of non-smokers were increased keratinisation, dysplasia, a basement membrane thinning and hyaline degeneration.Conclusion:Cigarette smoke has an injurious effect on vocal fold polyp epithelium and leads to increased hyaline degeneration in polyps.
