This research or research focuses on describing the management of educational libraries in Islamic Junior High School Polehan – Malang. This description of the library is reviewed from several sources by explaining each discussion from the beginning of the library implementation planning process to the library evaluation process. The research method in this study is a case study, by conducting field research and collecting data from observations, documentation or interviews. The results of this study indicate that there are activities in the management of library administration and management of library library materials. Both types of library management must begin with a clear formation of the library organizational structure which will facilitate the overall library management process. The clarity of the organizational structure of the library can be seen from the existence of the Head of the Library and Library Staff.Management of library administration such as the vision and mission, the organizational structure, the rules, library facilities, and library services. The library management of the Islamic Middle School of Polehan – Malang has been trying to be maximized as much as possible even though there are many limitations. While the management of library library materials such as procurement of books, flow management of library materials, collection of library materials, and storage of library materials. The management of library materials at the Islamic Middle School in Polehan – Malang during the pandemic was very different, where before the pandemic library services were carried out directly by library staff and students, then during the pandemic the guardians were allowed to come to school to borrow library books.

PurposeThe purpose of the paper is two-fold. The first is to inform the readers of the racist origins of libraries in America. Readers will learn about historic instances of systemic racism in libraries and those that persist today. The second purpose is to give readers examples of antiracist actions they can take on an individual level, in concert with library administration, and on the institutional level.Design/methodology/approachThis paper gives an overview of systemic racism in librarianship. Part I outlines the history of libraries and their institutional oppression origins in America. Part II reviews some of the current racial issues in Libraries and Information Science (LIS). Part III gives the author's viewpoint on how to incorporate antiracist action within libraries and how to decenter whiteness at the national level.FindingsThe authors found that libraries were established on institutional oppression and systemic racism, which continue to this day to center whiteness and disadvantage BIPOC. Having said that, now is the time to make changes, decenter whiteness and remove systemic barriers through antiracist actions. These actions will help increase the number of BIPOC working in libraries and improve the retention and promotion of those BIPOC too. If the American Library Association (ALA) heeds this call to action, Critical Race Theory (CRT) will become part of the Master's of Library and Information Science (MLIS), BIPOC will be better funded and supported, and the credentialing stigma will be removed.Originality/valueThis article highlights concrete action that should be taken beyond individual bias awareness and into systemic changes. It advocates for more critical awareness and daily antiracist action within the LIS field.

Libraries, as service-oriented organizations, are being guided on every aspect of their operation by local and international standards. In the Philippines, public libraries are expected to adhere to the stipulations of the Philippine Standards for Public Libraries. This study was conducted to assess the adherence of the 11 municipal libraries in Iloilo Province to the following areas of the Standards: library administration, collection management, services and utilization, physical facilities, financial resources, and linkages, networking and collaboration. Findings revealed that most libraries were non-compliant with almost all aspects of the Standards. Specifically, the majority lacked support from their local government units and were managed by non-professional librarians with inadequate knowledge and skills in successfully managing a library. Additionally, most libraries have a low budget to purchase updated resources of various types and formats and appropriate facilities and equipment. Furthermore, almost all libraries lacked networks and linkages, and collaborative activities that could have helped librarians enhance their skills, improve library resources and services, and increase their visibility and value to the stakeholders. Consequently, most municipal libraries could not fulfill the community's information needs; therefore, they remained undervalued and underutilized.

A Review of: Holden, I. I. (2010) Science literacy and lifelong learning in the classroom: A measure of attitudes among university students. Journal of Library Administration, 50:3, 265-282.  https://doi.org/10.1080/01930821003635002 Abstract Objective – Investigate student attitudes to science literacy and lifelong learning as outlined in Standard Five of the Information Literacy Standards for Science and Engineering/Technology (ILSTE): The information literate student understands that information literacy is an ongoing process and an important component of lifelong learning and recognizes the need to keep current regarding new developments in his or her field (2006). Design – Survey. Setting – A large public American R1 university. Subjects – Undergraduate students in two classes: Information Literacy in the Sciences (Science group) and Information Literacy (Non-Science group). Methods – A 13 question survey was administered to students by a colleague of the author.  Three categories of questions were asked: students' perceptions of the important of science literacy, students' assessment of their own science literacy skills and students' perceptions of lifelong learning in relation to Standard Five. Main Results – Survey participation included 13 students from the Science group and 18 students from the Non-Science group. Students agreed that science literacy is an important part of civic literacy and responsibility, and should be taught to undergraduates in the United States.  Students from the Science group frequently had more positive responses to statements than the students in the Non-Science group.  For example, 81% of Science students either agreed or strongly agreed with the statement, “Every responsible citizen should be aware of the latest scientific discoveries” compared to 61% of Non-science students.  Students felt that their science literacy skills had improved since high school.  Most students were confident in their research skills including using emerging communication technologies. Students believed that life-long learning and staying current contribute to good information literacy and science literacy. Conclusion – Students think science literacy is an important part of being a responsible citizen. They also believe being a lifelong learner improves science literacy.

In the fall of 2018, I was asked to calculate the value of Grand Valley State University’s (GVSU) general collection (defined as everything except Special Collections and University Archives) as part of risk mitigation planning and updating insurance coverage. Records indicated that our collection’s value was last calculated 11 years earlier, and we lacked both written documentation and institutional memory regarding the process used to calculate that value. While there is a fairly significant body of knowledge around calculating the value of monographs, I struggled to find guidance on calculating the monetary value FDLP collections. There is a robust body of scholarship on promoting the intrinsic value of being a member of the FDLP to library administration and other stakeholders, but very few of them focus on detailed financial benefits of tangible collections.

The library at SMP N 5 Bandarlampung is a junior high school library that has library management staff and the number of book collections according to library standards and has adequate library facilities and infrastructure. Students and students are required to become members of the school library to support the learning process. However, the process of borrowing and returning books currently carried out is still conventional, that is, all library administration data collection in borrowing and returning books is still written in the book, and when looking for the required data, you must open the book page. Application of library administration information systems using this user experience design, users can better understand and easily use applications that are made to maximize the performance of library staff, school principals, and students in managing library administration. The design of the library administration information system using the user experience design at SMP Negeri 5 Bandarlampung using the user centered design method has 5 stages namely, Empethized, Define Problem Statements, Indentation, and Prototype in accordance with the needs of users in the library administration information system based on the user experience design undertaken. The results of testing the criteria for the DeLone and McLean Model criteria for the success of the information system were 84.31% with the criteria being Very Good .

The present study a detail analysis has been made on recent trend progress library information science. Include this studies process of knowledge classification, cataloguing, documentation, library administration, internet, information literacy, change in management and library Security. this is found that the utility and security of Libraries is steadily increasing by means of the programmers, and mass Literacy programmers etc. LIS education and training facilities in India are undergoing impetuous changes. It is a need of collection for the information and knowledge in the library. The present study is useful for student for BLIS and MLIS, research as well as library staff for knowledge.

In March 2020, Alameda County, where the University of California (UC)-Berkeley is located, issued a shelter in place order as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The UC-Berkeley Library was one of the first libraries in the United States to deal effectively with the new normal that was mandated by local, state, and federal public health officials, shifting to the virtual provision of its services such as instruction, research consultation, and accelerated e-resource acquisition. Library administration encouraged staff to think creatively, to not only provide our services to faculty, users, and students, but also to bridge the physical gap through virtual media to foster collaboration among the community of international librarians.

A Review of: Dominguez, G. (2016). Beyond gate counts: Seating studies and observations to assess library space usage. New Library World, 117(5/6), 321-328. https://doi.org/10.1108/NLW-08-2015-0058 Abstract Objective – To propose a new method to assess library space usage and the physical library user experience utilizing multiple data collection techniques. Design – Seating usage studies, surveys, and observation. Setting – Large university in the southern United States. Subjects – Students who physically use the library spaces. Methods – The researcher performed seating sweeps three times a day for one week at time, using a counter to get an accurate headcount of each area of the library. The number of users was recorded on paper and then transferred to Excel. A survey for library patrons was created using Typeform and distributed through both email and in-person. In addition, the researcher created a photo diary to document how students were using the space, particularly creative and flexible uses of the library space. These photos were collected to be shared with library administration. The researcher conducted the study twice, once at each main campus library. Main Results – The initial seating sweeps at one location showed an average of 57 to 85 users engaging in active study, and 57% of users engaged in individual study vs. group study. The sweeping study at the second campus location found that floors designated as quiet floors were the most overcrowded. The researcher found that overall, the actual library use surpassed expected library use. The survey results indicated patron concerns about the lack of available seating, noise policies, uncomfortable furniture, and technology issues such as power outlets and Wi-Fi connectivity. Conclusion – The researcher found that utilizing surveys in addition to observational data provided a more complete picture of the user experience. Photographs also provided depth and texture to the observational data. Based on the findings the librarians and administration plan to upgrade furniture and technology options, as well as make changes to the noise policy.

In general, this research aims to find out and analyze what is administration in various special service fields. This research uses the literature study method by collecting literature (material materials) sourced from books, journals, and other sources related to the science of Educational Administration. specifically, that is providing special services or a business that is not directly related to the teaching and learning process in the classroom. But specifically given by schools to students so that they are more optimal in implementing the learning process. The types of special services are libraries, labor, UKS, cafes, worship facilities and dormitories. There are several roles of a teacher in the administration of special services, namely: Teacher involvement in library administration for example introducing books to students, knowing the types and mastering general criteria that determine the merits of a library of books, and promoting the library both for use and for guidance.
