Theoretical approaches have tended to understand perinatal distress through either individual or socio-cultural factors. In contrast, Natasha Mauthner proposed a relational model that understands perinatal distress in the context of interpersonal relationships. This study aims to build on Mauthner's work to explore how women speak about their relationships in connection to their stories of perinatal distress and recovery. Eight women were interviewed for the study. All women had at least one child under the age of three and self-identified as having experienced distress in the perinatal period. Interviews were recorded, transcribed and analyzed using Voice Centred Relational Analysis. Four broad themes were identified: (i) the role of practical support, (ii) the role of emotional support, (iii) relational dynamics, and (iv) the role of socio-cultural norms. Whilst some women experienced practical and emotional support in their relationships, those who did not linked a lack of support to their feelings of distress. Relationships were also found to reinforce unhelpful social norms around motherhood and mental health, as well as offering a space to resist norms and create wider discourses about what it means to be a mother. This study suggests that organizations supporting women in the perinatal period should focus on women's relational needs and consider the cultural discourses of motherhood that they perpetuate.

The purpose of this chapter was to develop and verify a theoretical model to understand the ways that potential customers perceive and act toward AI-made products. The author began the chapter with a review of the existing literature to extract the most fundamental elements, both internal and external to the customers, which can affect their perceptions and behaviours. From there, the author proposed and tested a theoretical model that can explain customer attitudes toward a new type of music: AI-made music. Using data gathered from a young customer sample (n = 219) in Japan, the author found that perceived product/service attributes and customers' personal characteristics had significant impacts on customer purchase intentions, while perceived seller attributes and environment characteristics had not. These findings helped expand the literature on customer attitudes by introducing and investigating an aggregated model on the one hand. They also provided practical support for the commercialization of the AI-made products industry in the future on the other.

Objective This study aimed to determine suitable combinations of text and pictogram sizes for older adults and investigated the visual prioritization of pictogram versus text. Background Icons have become an indispensable part of application (app) design. Pictogram size and text size of icons influence the usability of apps, especially by aged users. However, few studies have investigated the influences of different pictogram and text size combinations on readability, legibility, and visual search performance for older adults. Method This study used eye-tracking technology to investigate the effects of different pictogram and text size combinations as well as familiarity on readability, legibility, and visual search performance for older adults. A 3 (pictogram size) × 3 (text size) × 2 (familiarity) repeated-measures experimental design was used. Results The results of this study suggest that pictogram size and text size significantly affect visual search performance and that familiarity moderates the effect of text size on distribution of fixation duration proportion for text and pictograms. Conclusion Large pictogram and text sizes improved the readability and legibility of icons for older adults. Furthermore, the older adults fixated the area of text prior to pictograms when the pictogram size was larger than 72 × 72 px (1.38° × 1.38°) in the visual search task. Application The results of this study suggest using different combinations of pictogram and text sizes for older adults under different scenarios. The findings of this study act as practical support for designers and developers of mobile apps for older adults.

Background There has been a shift in focus of international dementia policies from improving diagnostic rates to enhancing the post-diagnostic support provided to people with dementia and their carers. There is, however, little agreement over what constitutes good post-diagnostic support. This study aimed to identify the components of post-diagnostic dementia support. Methods We adopted a qualitative design using interviews, focus groups and observation to explore the perspectives of key stakeholders on the content of post-diagnostic dementia support. Purposive sampling was used to identify sites in England and Wales recognised as delivering good practice. Participants included 17 people with dementia, 31 carers, 68 service managers or funders, and 78 frontline staff. Interviews and focus groups were audio recorded and transcribed for analysis. Forty-eight sessions of observation were completed and recorded in fieldnotes. Components were identified through an inductive, thematic approach and cross-checked against national guidelines and existing frameworks; they were subsequently critically reviewed by a range of experts and our mixed stakeholder panel. Results Twenty distinct components of post-diagnostic support were identified, related to five themes: timely identification and management of needs; understanding and managing dementia; emotional and psychological wellbeing; practical support; and integrating support. The first and last of these were cross-cutting themes facilitating the delivery of a unique constellation of components of post-diagnostic support to each individual living with dementia or dyad at a particular time. Conclusions Our work offers an empirically based framework to inform the development and delivery of holistic, integrated and continuous dementia care from diagnosis to end of life. It highlights the relevance of many components to both people living with dementia and their carers. Since the framework was developed in England and Wales, further research is needed to explore the relevance of our components to other sectors, countries and care systems.

The article is devoted to the 85th anniversary of Professor Viktor Vasilyevich Trusov (19362012), one of the prominent representatives of the therapeutic, scientific school of the Izhevsk State Medical Academy. In the range of diverse scientific interests and developments of Viktor Vasilyevich, a significant part was the issues of practical support to patients with endocrinological pathology, including patients with diabetes mellitus. Professor V.V. Trusov was a member of the Board of Russian Association of Endocrinologists, a member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, a member of the American Diabetes Association, worked on the problems of optimizing care for patients with diabetes. The article highlights the diabetology segment of the endocrinology service in Izhevsk on the materials of the endocrinological department of the State Clinical Hospital No. 6. The role of Professor Viktor Vasilyevich Trusov in the organization of the endocrinological center of Izhevsk, the viability of the methodological guidelines and recommendations laid down by him in the organization of care for patients with diabetes mellitus was noted. The organization of the work of the endocrinology center are considered. The analysis of the main indicators of the prevalence of diabetes mellitus was carried out according to the data of the endocrinology department (20172020). The special place of the diabetic foot clinic in the work of the center is highlighted. Modern and original methods of management of such complications of diabetes mellitus as diabetic foot syndrome are presented.

Abstract Background: The first two years of life are critical stages for a child’s growth and development. However, globally, 60% of the infant and young child deaths reported due to inappropriate infant feeding practices and infectious disease, where two-thirds of these deaths are attributable to sub-optimal breastfeeding practices. Methods and materials-community-based cross-sectional study design was employed from February to March 2020 in Jima Rare district, Ethiopia. The stratified sampling and simple random sampling were employed to recruit participants into the study. Data was collected by using semi-structured interviewer-administered questionnaire. And data were analyzed by using SPSS version 20. Results- The actual feeding practice style among the respondents had been assessed by using eight core indicators of infant and child feeding practice of the WHO. The finding revealed that (initiated breastfeeding within one-hour after birth 78%), (66.7% and 33.4% exclusive breastfeeding at 6 and 4-5months), respectively. About 11.8% of mothers continued breastfeeding at 2 years. About 33.4% and 66.7% of mothers started introducing solid, semi-solid or soft foods at 4 to 5 months at 6 months and above), respectively. The overall, proportion of children age 6- 23 months who met minimum meal frequency and dietary diversity accounts for 51.2%, 49.9% respectively. About half proportion (49.9%) of children age 6- 23 months fit for the minimum acceptable diet. The multivariate analysis finding shows that mothers who gave birth at health institutions, get help from their husband, had received practical support of IYCF practices, counseling during ANC and/or PNC visit and households who have agricultural land and radio were more likely to carryout appropriate IYCF practices than their comparable groups. Conclusion-the result suggests that the overall appropriate infant and young child feeding practice was low. Hence, initiatives and interventions should focus on advocacy for institutional delivery, counselling and practical support for IYCF practice. Special attention needs to be given for young and illiterate mothers. Moreover, attention need to address to empower women to have autonomy of decision-making and control power over assets to support them for appropriate IYCF practices.

Abstract. Several new forms of maps and map-likes visualization have emerged owing to the advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). However, the current cartographic theories are insufficient to guide and support the applications of these new forms of maps and map-likes visualization. Specifically, these forms overstep the cartographic framework and challenge the cartographic theory. In this study, we term these new geovisualisation forms as Pan-maps, thereby proposing a framework to visualize Pan-maps based on time, space, attribute, and user variables. These variables can be divided into basic and compound variables, and a hierarchy among basic and compound variables using their interrelated composition relationships is established. Furthermore, we taken AR map as case study to verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework. The proposed framework is anticipated to provide theoretical and practical support for Pan-maps design and promote cartography development in the ICT era.

La educación frente a la covid-19 ha puesto en práctica una infinidad de respuestas, todas urgentes, tentativas, generadas por ensayo y por error, y todavía pendientes de validación. Para comprender mejor el impacto de estas respuestas, el presente artículo defiende, partiendo de la teoría de los ecosistemas de aprendizaje, la necesidad de investigar cómo han influido las tecnologías de ámbito global en la construcción de experiencias locales de aprendizaje. Además, pone de manifiesto la necesidad de estudiar qué tipo de apoyo tanto teórico como práctico se requiere para reconducir los posibles efectos nocivos de la introducción de la tecnología de emergencia. A tal efecto, se describen las consecuencias de fenómenos globalizadores, como el tecnocentrismo, el solucionismo tecnológico, la plataformización y la economía de datos, proponiendo la reflexión, la concienciación para la transformación y la acción desde los ecosistemas locales de aprendizajes como vía imprescindible para la conceptualización de nuevos modelos educativos digitales pospandemia. El artículo también resume las aportaciones principales de los otros trabajos que forman parte de la monografía. Education has offered multiple, urgent, and tentative responses to Covid-19, generated by trial and error and still pending validation. To understand the impact of these responses, this article advocates for the study of how global technologies have influenced the pursuit of local learning experiences. In addition, the article emphasizes the need to investigate what kinds of theoretical and practical support are required to counterbalance the possible negative effects of emergency technology responses. Accordingly, it describes the consequences of globalizing phenomena, such as technocentrism, technological solutionism, platformization and data economy, and suggests that the reflection, critical consciousness engaged in transformation and action from within each local learning ecosystem are necessary to conceptualize new post-pandemic educational digital models. The article also summarizes the main contributions of the works included in this special issue.

PurposeThe COVID-19 pandemic has influenced hospital work and healthcare workers all over the world. We explored how Danish nurses coped with the fast, comprehensive organisational changes in their workplace and identified barriers to and facilitators for organisations ensuring the best possible conditions for nurses to meet these challenges. The study focuses on the organisational setting and how it did or did not support the nurses in their work.MethodsA qualitative explorative design was used in interviewing 23 nurses who had worked at a COVID-19 ward in one of three hospitals. Data were collected in the summer of 2020, and the analysis was inspired by Paul Ricoeur’s theory of narratives and interpretation.ResultsThe presence of managers in the wards helped the nurses in the form of psychological and practical support. Working within an organisation that provides a safe environment was essential for nurses. The experience of a safe environment allowed nurses to ask questions, which supported them in finding solutions to specific tasks in the new and critical working environment. Barriers to handling the new situation were an absence of managers and a lack of a sense of belongingness and trust.ConclusionThis study highlights the need for management to be present in the ward and for organisational support to be available to nurses so they can provide optimal treatment and care when working in new and unknown conditions during a pandemic. Practical assistance from managers to ease the job is beneficial. Furthermore, the presence of management is essential to provide psychological support and create a safe environment because this allows nurses to ask questions about how to better manage new and critical tasks.
