This article deals with the problem of interrelationships between the real and imaginative time. The orientation of time in narration is defined by the feature of the linguistic means used by the author. Imaginative time is the unity of interrelationships between the author, the reader and the characters. Imaginative time is connected with perceptual time more closely rather than the real time. The main characteristic feature of the real time is the fact that it is one-dimensional. Imaginative or fiction time can be multi-dimensional. So, time relation problem is one of the most serious. It is conditioned by the fact that category of time is very complex itself and besides, it is defined as multi-aspect category.

The present study aims to develop and validate a cuffless method for blood pressure continuous measurement through a wearable device. The goal is achieved according to the time-delay method, with the guiding principle of the time relation it takes for a blood volume to travel from the heart to a peripheral site. Inversely proportional to the blood pressure, this time relation is obtained as the time occurring between the R peak of the electrocardiographic signal and a marker point on the photoplethysmographic wave. Such physiological signals are recorded by using L.I.F.E. Italia’s wearable device, made of a sensorized shirt and wristband. A linear regression model is implemented to estimate the corresponding blood pressure variations from the obtained time-delay and other features of the photoplethysmographic wave. Then, according to the international standards, the model performance is assessed, comparing the estimates with the measurements provided by a certified digital sphygmomanometer. According to the standards, the results obtained during this study are notable, with 85% of the errors lower than 10 mmHg and a mean absolute error lower than 7 mmHg. In conclusion, this study suggests a time-delay method for continuous blood pressure estimates with good performance, compared with a reference device based on the oscillometric technique.

The present paper investigates the static fatigue behavior of Hi-Nicalon fiber-reinforced SiC–SiC minicomposites at high temperatures in the 900–1200 °C range, and under tensile stresses above the proportional limit. The stress–rupture time relation was analyzed with respect to subcritical crack growth in filaments and fiber tow fracture. Slow crack growth from flaws located at the surface of filaments is driven by the oxidation of free carbon at the grain boundaries. Lifetime of the reinforcing tows depends on the statistical distribution of filament strength and on structural factors, which are enhanced by temperature increase. The rupture time data were plotted in terms of initial stresses on reinforcing filaments. The effect of temperature and load on the stress–rupture time relation for minicomposites was investigated using results of fractography and predictions of minicomposite lifetime using a model of subcritical growth for critical filaments. The critical filament is the one whose failure by slow crack-growth triggers unstable fracture of the minicomposite. This is identified by the strength–probability relation provided by the cumulative distribution function for filament strength at room temperature. The results were compared to the fatigue behavior of dry tows. The influence of various factors related to oxidation, including multiple failures, load sharing, and variability, was analyzed.

Changes in the stress field in Świebodzice Depression (ŚU) unit area are the reason of complex kinematics of the rock blocks consisting of rotations and horizontal/vertical displacements. The measurement system of the Geodynamic Laboratory in Książ, associated with rock blocks which are separated by faults, is a natural detector of tectonic activity. Installed in laboratory long water-tube gauges allowing to determine the functions of tectonic activity—TAF, and their derivatives. A comparison of the TAF with the seismic activity of the Fore-Sudetic Monocline showed that the strong seismic shocks (magnitude ≥3.6) occur in the Monocline only during defined and repeatable phases of the kinematic activity of the ŚU. Observed concordance proves the thesis of the existence of a large-scale, and largely homogeneous field of tectonic forces which, at the same time, cover the ŚU and the Fore-Sudetic Monocline units. The results of comparison between seismic events temporal distribution and phases of tectonic activity of the ŚU orogen indicate existence of the time relation between function of derivative of the tectonic activity (TAF) and seismic events.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study the mechanical property of three-dimensional (3D) Printed photopolymer (Vero Yellow and Tango Black) with different constant strain rate. According to the experimental results, three constitutive models are used to describe the stress-strain and stress-time relation in the tension and stress relaxation process. Design/methodology/approach The Stratasys Objet 260 was used to prepare the four groups of samples with different photopolymers (Vero Yellow and Tango Black). The stress-strain and stress-time relations are obtained by the uniaxial tensile tests and relaxation tests performed at room temperature with different constant strain rates. The generalized Kelvin model (GKM), standard linearized model (SLM) and fractional order model (FOM) are used to describe experimental data by means of the curve-fitting approach. Findings Experimental results show that the tension stress increases faster at a higher strain-rate for tensile tests. Relaxation stress is influenced by the preload strain-rate for relaxation tests. For the theoretical fitting, the error comparison between three constitutive models and experimental data are calculated to demonstrate the high accuracy in describing the stress-strain relationship for tension. For stress relaxation, the error comparison confirms higher accuracy of FOM with the largest error within 3%, while the error of GKM and SLM up to 10%. Originality/value The paper confirms the viscous-elastic mechanical property of 3D printed photopolymer composites (Vero Yellow and Tango Black) for Stratasys PolyJet. As FOM shows high accuracy both in describing stress-strain and stress-time relation for tension and stress relaxation process, it can be directly used as a constitutive model to predict mechanical properties for engineering application.

This article is dedicated to the study of time category in the English folktale „The Seal-Catcher”. Folktale has always been considered as the unique component of folklore. All peoples of the world have been describing the pastime events through the folklore, in particular, through the folktale. A folktale is the world’s heritage unit. It has been transferred from one generation to another to tell about how people lived many years ago, how they worked, built relationship, which valuables they had etc. Folktales as long as anecdotes, fables, songs and other folklore components were told in oral. In this article the usage of time category in the English folktale „The Seal-Catcher” is researched. The object of the study is the folktale „The Seal-Catcher”. The aim is to determine the characteristics of the means of expressing the category of time in the English folktale. The term temporality is used as the synonym to the term time. In other words, temporality is the category of time being mostly used in specific unit. The category of time includes not only the time forms but also lexical means of linguistic expression of time. Time relation and time characteristics are studied in this article on the materials of the folktale „The Seal-Catcher”. In this folktale the most commonly used tense is Past Simple tense – 85%. The time category is mainly built on the Past Indefinite grammatical constructions. Application of Present Indefinite tense is not characteristic for this folktale. The further research is considered to be promising when to study modality of English folktales as the way of motivation to the action.

Time perspective is an important correlate of developmental outcomes in adolescence, and research has highlighted the importance of assessing the past, the present, and the future. However, there are few instruments that assess all three time periods. In the current study, we examined the responses of Italian and Albanian adolescents on the time frequency, time orientation, time relation, and time attitude subscales of the Adolescent and Adult Time Inventory. Participants consisted of two samples of adolescents—246 Italians and 312 Albanians—who completed translated versions of the Adolescent and Adult Time Inventory. Italian and Albanian adolescents had similar responses to time frequency and time attitudes but differed in time orientation and time relation. Additionally, psychometric evidence supported the internal consistency and structural validity of scores on five of the six time attitude subscales—Past Positive, Past Negative, Present Positive, Present Negative, and Future Positive—but provided less support for Future Negative subscale scores. Time attitude scores showed strong invariance across countries. Comparisons of time attitude mean scores in this study with time attitude means in samples from Germany, Japan, Italy, New Zealand, Turkey, and the United States revealed similarities and differences. Finally, time constructs did not have substantial associations with risky behaviors or seatbelt use. The findings suggest that the Adolescent and Adult Time Inventory can be used in cross-cultural research on time perspective and may help us understand adolescents in these contexts.
