In order to study the manifestation of data sense and identify ways of thinking about variability in authentically realistic problems in a group of Chilean fifth-grade students, a lesson plan was designed and implemented, within the framework of statistical literacy and using the “lesson study” modality, in which students were urged to make inferences based on the analysis of data corresponding to the tsunami that struck the Chilean coast in 2010. This article focuses on the qualitative study of the data representations produced by two groups of students during the implementation of the lesson plan. The analysis of the behavior of the tsunami carried out by the students led them to work simultaneously with nominal qualitative, ordinal qualitative, discrete quantitative, and continuous quantitative variables; to create new variables; to construct representations of data (multiple bar graphs and frequency tables); and to make inferences based on the data. We conclude that the use of an authentic context and the construction of their own representations promoted data sense in students and facilitated the development of their statistical thinking, through which they were able to recognize, describe, and explain the variability of the phenomenon.

The motivations that lead students to decide on a study modality or on a university degree provide relevant information to improve teaching–learning processes. This work addresses the question regarding the choice of study through analysis of four particular cases. They are special because the individuals chose their studies according to reasons different from the usual ones. To study these cases, interviews were carried out with the individuals. The results were subsequently analyzed according to a qualitative methodology using WebQDA software. The aim was to distinguish the incidence of internal and external motivations when choosing studies. The results obtained represent a contradiction with other pieces of research that analyzed the incidence of these types of motivations for choosing studies and allow for the assessment of various factors that may influence this process. The results obtained in this research indicate that the participants presented a high incidence of internal motivation. This allows for establishing some conclusions about the nature of those motivations when compared with the standard ones referred to in other works that dealt with a general population. The results reveal that in the subjects of this study’s sample, there is a higher incidence of internal motivational factors, such as vocation, while in other subjects, external factors predominate, such as socioeconomic position.

PROEJA. AbstractThis research present the students, teachers and coordination view on the language practices of students from the Paraense Amazon in technical courses integrated to High School, from the Pedagogy of alternation: students have classes in one academic period and in another period they return to their rural residences to combine the knowledge received at school, with the work practices where they live. This research is about young people and adults from five cities in Pará: Abaetetuba, Castanhal, Magalhães Barata, Santa Isabel and São Domingos do Capim, who work in the family agriculture production chain, especially in the production of açaí, flour, fishing, livestock for cutting and milk production. They are students of the Agricultural Course of PROEJA - National Program for the Integration of Professional Education with Basic Education in the Modality of Education of Youth and Adults. It is intended to demonstrate in this study, the construction of literacies during this teaching. Authors were selected who investigate alternation pedagogy, rural education and literacies to support the theoretical part of the research. We opted for the qualitative and quantitative methodology, in the case study modality and with the application of semi-structured questionnaires and documentary analysis. The results obtained revealed that the teachers work the literacies, however, the pedagogical practices do not always happen in a dialogical way to the students' socio-cultural and work context. At the end of the research, it was evidenced that literacy practices should be designed for the social, political and economic development of students in an environment that links students' prior knowledge to these practices. Keywords: Languages, Alternation Pedagogy, PROEJA.

This article is dedicated to the study of time category in the English folktale „The Seal-Catcher”. Folktale has always been considered as the unique component of folklore. All peoples of the world have been describing the pastime events through the folklore, in particular, through the folktale. A folktale is the world’s heritage unit. It has been transferred from one generation to another to tell about how people lived many years ago, how they worked, built relationship, which valuables they had etc. Folktales as long as anecdotes, fables, songs and other folklore components were told in oral. In this article the usage of time category in the English folktale „The Seal-Catcher” is researched. The object of the study is the folktale „The Seal-Catcher”. The aim is to determine the characteristics of the means of expressing the category of time in the English folktale. The term temporality is used as the synonym to the term time. In other words, temporality is the category of time being mostly used in specific unit. The category of time includes not only the time forms but also lexical means of linguistic expression of time. Time relation and time characteristics are studied in this article on the materials of the folktale „The Seal-Catcher”. In this folktale the most commonly used tense is Past Simple tense – 85%. The time category is mainly built on the Past Indefinite grammatical constructions. Application of Present Indefinite tense is not characteristic for this folktale. The further research is considered to be promising when to study modality of English folktales as the way of motivation to the action.

Some developmental projects are created by people- private -partnership (PPP), particularly where recovery is acquirable by levying the users. Such PPPs are successful for construction of roads, bridges, running toilet facilities and conveyance facility in mode of use and pay.  Likewise, public Scientist Partnership (PSPs) will be successful, where monitored impacts can be used to derive benefit. But, such example cases are not so popular in utilizing new research results and derive benefits from natural resources and enhance productivity. There exists need of similar partnership projects in research area. In this study modality of the PSP to create boost engine for natural resource conservation and bringing economic prosperity is established. A novel PSP launch was synthesized on useful food crop viz finger millet (Elusiane corcona (l)), known since long past, and now regaining popularity. It was possible to enhance additional annual production of 5.755 million Tonnes of finger millet grain, equivalent to additional income of Rs 11,510 crores. Against this the scientist partnership share was 0.49x million Tonnes grain and economic equivalency of Rs 992 crores, which was just 7-8%, with same level of input in agriculture. Additional benefits were sustainability of production and resources consecration, reduction of Green House Gas emission (GHGs), particularly nitrous oxide (N2O), largely emanating from agriculture and responsible for depletion of ozone layer. The finger millet stiff stem will be useable for production of ply-board filling material that will be innovative  building material for housing and infrastructure developments. and making furniture.

Teaching collegiality in the Mexican primary school is influenced by a global dynamic that forms a complex school culture, with singular educational practices that have been established over time. A qualitative investigation of ethnographic character was conducted by using the case study modality. The case consisted of 13 professionals in charge of the primary education management. The techniques used to collect data were participant observation, semi-structured interview and analysis of documents. Through an inductive research process, empirical categories of analysis were constructed to finally produce an interpretative text that identified some practices of teacher collaboration; these practices are described and analyzed in this article. Among the main findings, it was identified that what motivates the teaching staff to collaborate with others has to do with resolving practical and immediate situations with preciseness; so, the school can continue to function with «a sense of normality». It was also confirmed that the time for teaching collegiality is not scheduled; then, the teachers often consume their students’ recess time, and even the management staff extends that time to develop different meetings related to providing several types of information.
