Работа посвящена разработке методики количественного определения глицирризина и аскорбиновой кислоты при их совместном присутствии в комбинированном лекарственном препарате в виде саше методом УФ-спектрофотометрии. This paper represents a developed technique for the quantitative determination of a new medicinal composition based on dry licorice extract and ascorbic acid for the prevention and treatment of immunode ciency in viral infections by UV spectrophotometry

Abstract The field experiment was carried out during the Winter/autumn cultivation season of (2021-2020) in one of the private fields in Fallujah city 60 km to the west of Baghdad at latitude 33° 19'53.6" north and longitude 43° 46'45.2" East to study the effect of foliar spraying with licorice extract and some nutrients on the growth and yield of red cabbage. A factor experiment with two factors was implemented according to the randomized complete blocks design (RCBD) with three replicates, the first factor is foliar licorice extract application in different concentrations. The second factor is the foliar spraying of nutrients The results showed that the effect of spraying with licorice extract and some nutrients led to a significant increase in (plant height, leaf area, total chlorophyll in the leaves, Leaf content of anthocyanin, curl percentage, head weight, total yield, nitrogen percent in the leaves, Phosphorous percent in leaves, potassium percent in leaves).

Melanin is a brown or black pigment that protects skin from ultraviolet radiation and reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, overproduction of melanin is associated with lentigines, melasma, freckles and skin cancer. Licorice has shown antioxidant, anti-tumor, anti-platelet, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activities and is used as a natural treatment for skin whitening. We aimed to confirm the potential of Wongam, a new cultivar of licorice developed by the Rural Development Administration (RDA), as a whitening agent in cosmetics. In addition, we verified the effect of heat treatment on the bioactivity of licorice by comparing antioxidant and anti-melanogenic activities of licorice extract before and after heating (130 °C). The heat-treated licorice extract (WH-130) showed higher radical-scavenging activities in the ABTS+ (2,2′-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazolin-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt) and DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) assays. In addition, WH-130 inhibited melanogenesis more effectively due to downregulation of tyrosinase in B16F10 melanoma cells than non-heated licorice extract. Moreover, heat treatment increased total phenolic content. In particular, isoliquiritigenin, an antioxidant and anti-melanogenic compound of licorice, was produced by heat treatment. In conclusion, WH-130, with increased levels of bioactive phenolics such as isoliquiritigenin, has potential for development into a novel skin whitening material with applications in cosmetics.

Background : Hepatic fibrosis results from various chronic insults such as chronic hepatitis B and C, parasitic disease, autoimmune hepatitis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and hereditary metal over load e.g. iron and cupper and it is linked with remarkable morbidity and mortality Aim: T o evaluate and compare the antifibrotic effect of Aqueous Garlic extract and Licorice Aqueous extract on carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic fibrosis in rats. Method: 4 groups of rats were taken. In group A and group B, rats were given injection of normal saline intraperitonally. In group C and D, rats were given injection of Aqueous garlic extract (AGE) and licorice aqueous extract (LAE) 01 ml / Kg body weight of rat /day intraperitonally for next four weeks respectively. At the end, all rats were sacrificed. Blood and liver were taken for biochemical examination. Results : This study results showed that the use of aqueous garlic extract and aqueous licorice extract reduces CCl4 induced liver fibrosis in rats. Keywords: Aqueous garlic extract (AGE), licorice aqueous extract (LAE), hepatic fibrosis, anti-fibrotic effect

Endometriosis, an estrogen-dependent chronic gynecological disease, is characterized by a systemic inflammation that affects circulating red blood cells (RBC), by reducing anti-oxidant defenses. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential beneficial effects of licorice intake to protect RBCs from dapsone hydroxylamine (DDS-NHOH), a harmful metabolite of dapsone, commonly used in the treatment of many diseases. A control group (CG, n = 12) and a patient group (PG, n = 18) were treated with licorice extract (25 mg/day), for a week. Blood samples before (T0) and after (T1) treatment were analyzed for: i) band 3 tyrosine phosphorylation and high molecular weight aggregates; and ii) glutathionylation and carbonic anhydrase activity, in the presence or absence of adjunctive oxidative stress induced by DDS-NHOH. Results were correlated with plasma glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) concentrations, measured by HPLC–MS. Results showed that licorice intake decreased the level of DDS-NHOH-related oxidative alterations in RBCs, and the reduction was directly correlated with plasma GA concentration. In conclusion, in PG, the inability to counteract oxidative stress is a serious concern in the evaluation of therapeutic approaches. GA, by protecting RBC from oxidative assault, as in dapsone therapy, might be considered as a new potential tool for preventing further switching into severe endometriosis.
