The growing population and consumer income have led to more consumption activity globally. The increased consumption requires further extraction of resources and pressure on existing resources. The damage effects are reflected in global warming, environmental pollution, and decreased flora fauna. In addition, human activities are perennially damaging the environment. High resource extraction and consumption activity require a more prudent use of resources and product choices. This study attempts to identify and prioritize the potential drivers for sustainable consumption through the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) approach. ISM helps to obtain qualitative data instead of quantifiable factors resulting from modeling. Thirteen drivers of sustainable consumption were finalized after extensive literature review and expert’s consultation. Thirty respondents were sampled to collect data. The relationship between drivers was further established. Incentives, Labeling and Values Norms were the most important drivers of sustainable consumption. The study's findings would help policymakers to develop strategies to promote sustainable consumer practices among millennials. Adopting sustainable consumption would promote green consumption, improve the environment and save valuable resources.

AbstractCardiolipin (CL) is a lipid that is found in the membranes of bacteria and the inner membranes of mitochondria. CL can increase the activity of integral membrane proteins, in particular components of respiratory pathways. We here report that CL activated detergent-solubilized cytochrome bd, a terminal oxidase from Escherichia coli. CL enhanced the oxygen consumption activity ~ twofold and decreased the apparent KM value for ubiquinol-1 as substrate from 95 µM to 35 µM. Activation by CL was also observed for cytochrome bd from two Gram-positive species, Geobacillus thermodenitrificans and Corynebacterium glutamicum, and for cytochrome bo3 from E. coli. Taken together, CL can enhance the activity of detergent-solubilized cytochrome bd and cytochrome bo3.

Introduction. Society's focus on sustainable economic development highlights the problem of consumers' ability to consume rationally and their willingness to take account of socially significant and environmental motives in their consumer behavior. Aim: to determine the content of consumption from the perspective of the subject-action approach in psychology, to clarify and test the criteria for consumption subjectivity and sustainable consumption acts. Methods. Survey, testing, descriptive and correlation statistics. Results. The author has theoretically substantiated that in modern economic conditions consumption has become one of the leading human activities, which uses the categories of subject-action approach in psychology. The author analyzes the concepts of consumption activity and the sustainable consumption act, as well as the qualitative and quantitative indicators of consumption subjectivity and presents the results of an empirical study of consumer behavior. Conclusions. The theoretical and methodological tools of the subject-action approach open new opportunities for psychological analysis of consumption as an activity and action of the individual. The empirical study found that those who focused on subjective sustainable consumption accounted for only 20.8% of the respondents. This emphasizes the problem of determining the factors behind individuals' psychological readiness for sustainable consumption and the technologies for its development. The obtained findings can be used for designing consumption culture development training programs as well as for further research into psychology of consumption.

Food loss occurs in urban area restaurants, including in Bogor. The consumption activity in restaurants sometimes produces food waste, including of rice, vegetables or side dishes. The research objectives were (1) To identify the restaurant food-wasting process in Bogor, and (2) To estimate the amount and economic value of restaurant food waste in Bogor. The Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-3964-1994 about Sampling and Measurement Method and Composition of Urban Waste was used for sampling. Food waste in restaurants occurs from sellers and customers. The unsold food waste of restaurants in Bogor was predominately rice. The occurrence of rice waste was due to large cooking portions and the drying of rice during cooking, making it unable to consume. The food waste produced from unconsumed food by customers included rice and side dishes, such as meat, chicken and fish. Some reasons for food waste occurrence from visitor consumption were unpreferred food taste, large food portion and low appetite. The annual rice waste from unsold and unconsumed food in restaurants in Bogor was 29,742.84 kg or Rp 356,914,080. The annual amounts of meat, chicken, and fish waste are 14,780kg, 28,500kg and 8,460 kg, respectively. The economic value of meat, chicken and fish waste is Rp 1,655,640,000, Rp 712,480,000 and Rp 253,711,500, respectively. Keywords: consumption, the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-3964- 1994, urban waste, consumption chain, weight conversion factor

Outward habit formation affects consumption decisions. Since consumption displays a negative environmental externality, outward habits has as well an (adverse) effect on the environment. This research paper centers around the theoretical linkage between the combination of both externalities (environmental deterioration and outward habits). The objective of this study is to examine the impacts of outward habits on the state of the environment in the context of an overlapping generations economy. In our study, environmental quality is a public good negatively affected by consumption activity and positively affected by maintenance investment. With outward habit formation, the build-up level of average past consumption in the economy at large influences the current utility of an individual consumer. Thus, individuals draw utility not only from their own level of current consumption, but also from its level relative to the average consumption in the economy. How does outward habit influence the state of the environment? We analyze this question using an overlapping generations model with outward habit and environmental quality in the utility function. In steady state equilibrium allocation, we show that whether outward habits are destructive to the environment depends on the degrees of outward habit formation and the size of the economy.

Abstract. The population’s demand for food is the most important element of the region's food system in the context of modern global challenges and risks. The problems of effective life support for residents of a large city have their own specifics and patterns of development. The purpose of the study was to identify the dynamics of demand and its determining factors in the food market of St. Petersburg, including their changes in the conditions of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Methods. Abstract-logical, monographic and economic-statistical methods were used. Results. The article provides a comparative assessment of structural changes in the level of food consumption by city residents, the average per capita income of the population, changes in price parameters that affect purchasing power. It is revealed that the trend of reducing the consumption of almost all types of products by the population of St. Petersburg in 2018 remains unchanged. This indirectly reflects the lack of economic availability of food, which is confirmed by data on the distribution of total monetary income of the population by 20 percent groups. It is concluded that despite the higher growth rates of monetary incomes of the city's population from 2015 to 2018, the share of the number of residents in the groups with lower incomes increased. It shows a decrease in consumer demand during the pandemic. In combination with the increase in food prices, this is a factor that limits the consumption activity of citizens, an indicator of which is the size and structure of family spending on food. The implementation of the policy of import substitution creates prerequisites for the growth of supply in the food market of St. Petersburg due to the resource capabilities of the production of local producers. Scientific novelty consists in determining trends and structural changes in consumer behavior of households in order to justify urgent measures to change it in the desired direction, in the face of increasing external shocks and challenges.

Today, most people need a communication channel to get information, get news, have fun, get to know a product/service, engage in any production/consumption activity, or socialize. While it was seen that these actions took place only under the umbrella of traditional communication tools until the end of the 1990s, it has been done in an interactive environment by gaining great momentum since the 2000s. In other words, the limit of oneway communication could be broken with the flexibility and speed of two-way communication. People sometimes produce in their groups and use some unique words and phrases that are only understood by their group members. These words and expressions can also include slang. Slang is usually the language specific to a social group.
