The article is devoted to the consideration of the theory of social action in the context of criticism of the theory of action by analytical philosophy. Firstly, the article describes the basic concepts of social action by M. Weber, E. Durkheim, and T. Parsons. Despite some disagreements between these sociologists, they agree that social action is purposeful and intentional, as well as focused on other people, due to which it receives a social characteristic. Then the author turns to analytical philosophy, in which the concept of "intention" was subjected to skeptical analysis. For example, in the philosophy of late Wittgenstein, action receives its meaning not from the intentions of the actor, but from the context of its implementation, just as words get their meaning from the conditions in which they are used. His ideas were developed by E. Anscombe, who rejected introspection as a method of comprehending the intentions of the subject of action. An obvious consequence of the refusal of psychologizing intent was an appeal to the context of the action being performed and to its social conditions as well. Having considered examples of the application of the theories of social action, the author concludes that sociologists in most of their studies use the model of a rational subject of action, the distinguishing feature of which is awareness of one’s own intentions and goals. Although some researchers have attempted to make this model weaker in order to approximate it to real participants of social interaction, these changes did not affect the awareness of the subject of action of his own goals and intentions. Therefore, the author of the article concludes that one of the urgent tasks of sociology is to develop a new model of the subject of action, which will organically combine the subject’s orientation to the external context and limited awareness of the grounds for his own actions.

This article analyzes two newly identified texts of fairy tales with the plot type SUS 502 “Copper Forehead” (ATU 502 “Wild Man”). The two texts are improvisational, created by storytellers based on book versions of the text. Under the influence of the book tradition, storytellers are interested in the psychology of the characters and their inner experiences. In the texts under consideration, there are many varying details concerning the characters’ world and the storyteller’s reflections on his heroes. Storytellers easily and organically combine motifs from several fairy tales in one text, and they may also include details and images from movies and cartoons, but they pay special attention to the book. Mostly, these are texts adapted from of A. N. Afanasyev’s collection. The fairy tales of E. N. Novikova and N. A. Chechikhina are based on book versions of the plot 502. Evdokiya Nikolaevna’s source is specified as from Afanasyev, while there is no direct parallel for Nina Andreyevna’s version, although the influence on her performance of books is obvious.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify the concepts, component parts and relationships between vocabularies, linked data and knowledge graphs (KGs) from the perspectives of data and knowledge transitions.Design/methodology/approachThis paper uses conceptual analysis methods. This study focuses on distinguishing concepts and analyzing composition and intercorrelations to explore data and knowledge transitions.FindingsVocabularies are the cornerstone for accurately building understanding of the meaning of data. Vocabularies provide for a data-sharing model and play an important role in supporting the semantic expression of linked data and defining the schema layer; they are also used for entity recognition, alignment and linkage for KGs. KGs, which consist of a schema layer and a data layer, are presented as cubes that organically combine vocabularies, linked data and big data.Originality/valueThis paper first describes the composition of vocabularies, linked data and KGs. More importantly, this paper innovatively analyzes and summarizes the interrelatedness of these factors, which comes from frequent interactions between data and knowledge. The three factors empower each other and can ultimately empower the Semantic Web.

The article analyses one of the functional features of the love motive in the works of Arturo Pérez-Reverte on the basis of his novel “The Old Guard´s Tango”. The plot and stylistic analysis of the text within the framework of the system-functional approach allows us to go deeper into the image of the protagonist via the author’s use of a love motive. Pérez-Reverte’s works are difficult to refer to any particular literary school, as his novels paradoxically but organically combine the features of postmodern literary aesthetics (hyperreflexion, intertextuality, load of allusions) and those of classical literature focused on narrative and reflection in the context of eternal values. Due to this genre polyphonic nature with expressed moral and ethical content and exciting plots, Reverte’s works cannot be fully attributed to “post-post-modernism” (the term used by N.V. Gladilin). The latter is characterized by the absence of moral and ethical problematic and plot clichés. In addition, all motives in Reverte´s works, including that of love, develop in a reliable historical context, elevating the images to the rank of deep human transformations. As the analysis demonstrates, the full-fledged development of the protagonist image is impossible without story’s recurrent love theme that develops like a spiral – each new story twist reveals the image in a new way based on the previous life experience.

This paper mainly analyses and discusses the application and significance of the visual negative afterimage on the colour design of medical product based on the visual negative afterimage theory. The design for the colour of medical product based on the visual negative afterimage theory focuses more human orientation in aspect of the visual effect design. The paper also points out that the trend of future design is to organically combine the art, the therapy features and the humanity. The complementary colour equilibrium of the visual negative afterimage will play a more and more important role in the colour design of the medical product. In the modern medical environment, the colour of the medical product has a decisive effect on the information exchange between people and the space environment. Although the visual negative afterimage is common in our daily life, the colour is not taken into consideration in the colour design of the medical product, which will result in negative effects. The colour is a strong and extremely attractive expression tool. Therefore, when the colour is designed for the medical product, it should be applied reasonably. The application of colour must be based on the special function requirements and the use of different people, so as to show its special function and requirements, which not only avoids the negative influence caused by the visual negative afterimage, but also creates a more humanistic atmosphere for the medical environment.
