In order to implement environmental protection, within the Soil Cadastre, previously proposed as a multipurpose inventory that aims to promote sustainable soil uses, the hydrogeological instability caused by human activities is the focus of this work. These activities can be aimed at sustainable agricultural soil use or the building of roads to allow the access to the fields. The soil’s hydrogeological instability causes the unsustainable use and management of a cadastral parcel. Therefore, the aim of this work is to propose a nomenclature for hydrogeological instability risks, as well as the best practices of conservative soil tillage in case studies, in order to reduce environmental impact. According to the proposed Soil Cadastre, the missing environmental sustainability of a parcel and the reason for this must be communicated to the field owner or manager. In a hilly area of inland Western Sicily, four main risk types of hydrogeological instability were identified: hydrogeological instability (caused only by natural factors); hydraulic-pedological farming instability (crop not suitable for the field for missing or insufficient soil drainage and landslides); hydraulic-infrastructural instability (built up infrastructures unsuitable for the site); hydraulic-infrastructural-pedological-management instability (field improvements changing the downflow line and crop operations not suitable for the soil and climate parameters). The farm owner or manager must be informed about the risk type affecting their fields in order to perform the best practices (i.e., conservative soil tillage), for implementing or restoring a sustainable soil use or management in each cadastral parcel.

The present paper discusses the notions of inter, multi and transdisciplinarity in the context of present day scientific practice, with a brief summary of the historical roots of the current scenario. As a case-study, it is analyzed the situation of research on HDs, as an emergent multidisciplinary field aiming at transdisciplinarity. An illustration is presented, from the experience of the constitution of a multidisciplinary team related to basic research in HDs. The author highlights the specific skills and modalities of participation of both the intervening specialists and the ‘generalist’ or manager of knowledge. Suggestions are offered on how to expand this model. Keywords: Multidisciplinarity; Transdisciplinarity; Research on High Dilutions; Homeopathy. I trust that you are well and as a leader or manager in the health sector wherever you are, you have taken time to ensure your own health and wellbeing in these extraordinary times. There is no more important time than now to ensure that you have the resilience and reserves to travel through these uncertainties. In the last issue this column focussed on the ACHSM’s Certification Program and the importance of a credential for health leaders and executives. As I noted then, certification in a profession is an employment currency within the health sector that has traditionally excluded the leaders and managers. Through the introduction of these credentials, the College supports members and future members to have their body of knowledge and skills recognised and provides the platform for continuing development. Today let me focus on the importance of lifelong learning and intentionally managing a career that hopefully will span decades, providing you with personal satisfaction and success. Committing to lifelong learning, as we mandate within Certification, is a commitment to your own development, and your own sense of staying curious and active within the profession. A quiet and consistent focus on staying current is at the foundation of confident and competent leadership and ACHSM sees this as being at the heart of our offerings to College members.

“Mayor or Manager – Why Changing the Management Model is under Discussion in Municipalities?” The aim of this study is to produce new knowledge on why municipalities consider changing their management model and what contexts and issues lead to such considerations. Based on previous research we comprise a synthesis about the factors that bring about the need for changing the management model. We use it as an analytical tool in analysing our empirical qualitative data, which consists of Finnish news articles. Our findings strengthen and complement the previous research: the changing operational environment and dissatisfaction with management and distribution of power are the key issues that bring up considerations for changing the management model. Our empirical data analysis comprehends previous research by revealing new factors, the growing demands for local politicians and practical reasons, that may lead to changes in the management model. This role play focuses on team decision making and is designed for undergraduate and graduate human resource management (HRM) and organizational behavior (OB) courses. It can also support management seminars. Working within Employee Teams, Department Teams, or Manager Teams, students decide which three of five employees will obtain family responsibility leave. For HRM courses, the exercise focuses on interpreting and applying family responsibility leave, which illustrates day-to-day personnel planning. For OB courses, the debriefing centers on comparing decision-making models and discussing how beliefs and attitudes influence decision making; it also supports exchanges about the influence of conflict, domination, and groupthink on team decision making. For both OB and HRM courses, the exercise helps students compare individual and team decisions, discuss the effects of team composition on decision making, and analyze the fairness of their decisions. Instructors can conduct the activity in class or online.

The development of construction in Indonesia is increasing rapidly, therefore building materials are needed to be used in building a construction. Every building materials store must have a transaction system and an inventory system. Whether it's an efficient or less efficient inventory system. For this reason, this research was conducted to help the owner or manager of a building shop to more easily determine the combination pattern of supplies and purchases of building goods. The a priori algorithm is used in this study because the a priori algorithm is suitable in connecting the itemset combination patterns. Therefore the a priori algorithm is suitable in determining the purchase combination pattern in order to get a good inventory system. And from the process carried out, a confidence value of 75% was obtained, not only that this research was also assisted by a priori algorithm supporting application, namely the Tanagra application.

For many business owners, strategies for operations are well thought out, whereas strategies for exit are not. Exiting a business does not need to occur due to a challenge or disaster. It is possible to plan and exit for the purposes of business growth, retirement, mergers and more. An exit affects the business owner, as it means that they are no longer involved in running or operations of the organization. The aim of this chapter is to identify common exit strategies and understand how they are of benefit to both the business owner or manager and the individual taking over the business. Secondary qualitative research is the research method used, with analysis of strategies and structures used across countries. These findings include differentiation between exit strategies with an understanding of their impact or influence on the business. These include the process of creating and exit strategy and the benefits for having one in place. The expectations of the investor and how they are to be paid back are taken into consideration. The chapter concludes with a solution for any business owner, including how to work with a qualified team to create a logical, well thought out exit plan.

Abstract The aim of this study was to compare two different methods for the treatment of digital dermatitis (DD) in dairy cows. Moreover, both treatment methods were tested if they could stop the recurrences of DD in the same patient. For this study, data were collected on two separate occasions across a six-month period (spring and the following autumn). During these two periods, 280 and 232 Holstein Friesian dairy cows were examined respectively in the crush. The following two treatment methods were compared: 1. Scarification of the lesion surface and antibiotic spray; 2. Resection of the lesion, antibiotic spray and powder, and covering with a bandage. A first control 3 weeks after the initial trimming period was carried out to check the condition of the lesions. The recurrence rate of DD was assessed during the second hoof trimming (autumn). In this study, no differences between two treatment methods could be observed as all treated animals have shown a 100 % healing. The assessment of a recurrence rate showed no new cases of acute DD in the group 1 (non-bandaging) and in the group 2; however, there was a 28.6 % recurrence rate in the group 1 (non-bandaging). The material costs and treatment time were also several times higher in the bandaging group. In conclusion, the tested methods did not differ in healing success rate, however, there are other important factors like time and costs that play an important role in the decision of a farmer or manager as to which treatment to use for their dairy cows.
