When a group member commits wrongdoing, people sometimes assign responsibility and blame not only to the wrongdoer but also to other members of the same group. We examined such assignment of collective responsibility in the context of exploitation of one family by another. Participants were recruited from an individualistic society (United States) and a more collectivistic society (South Korea) to assess differences in assignment of collective responsibility. Participants in both countries rated the degree to which an agent (grandson) should be held responsible for his grandfather’s exploitation of a victimized family, while varying the closeness of familial connection. Participants’ responsibility judgments showed sensitivity to whether the grandson received financial benefit from the wrongdoer and to the perceived closeness between the grandson and the wrongdoer. Korean participants imposed greater responsibility on the agent than did American participants. Implications for understanding the influence of social norms on moral judgments are discussed.

The Olympic values are the sports' spiritual power, which is incomprehensible and secret to many people, but can make sense of time, restore dignity and change the athlete's personality. “The important thing in the Olympic Games is not the triumph but the struggle, the essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well”, says the French educator and historian known as the father of the modern Olympic Games, Charles Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin. The noble spirit of this idea hides power and can become an ideal for anyone who wants to change himself/herself and the world around him/her. The time of technology, that we live in, represents a challenge of a healthy, educational and socio-cultural nature. The COVID-19 surprise blocked many activities and completely changed the world of sports and the physical activity of modern people. New issues and difficulties emerged, the great need for personal and family responsibility was felt, and spiritual, purely human values appeared. This article describes how teachers in physical education and sports found a landmark, solution and support in the idea of the Olympic movement and implemented it as an alternative in sports activities with young people and sports classes.

This role play focuses on team decision making and is designed for undergraduate and graduate human resource management (HRM) and organizational behavior (OB) courses. It can also support management seminars. Working within Employee Teams, Department Teams, or Manager Teams, students decide which three of five employees will obtain family responsibility leave. For HRM courses, the exercise focuses on interpreting and applying family responsibility leave, which illustrates day-to-day personnel planning. For OB courses, the debriefing centers on comparing decision-making models and discussing how beliefs and attitudes influence decision making; it also supports exchanges about the influence of conflict, domination, and groupthink on team decision making. For both OB and HRM courses, the exercise helps students compare individual and team decisions, discuss the effects of team composition on decision making, and analyze the fairness of their decisions. Instructors can conduct the activity in class or online.

Proper child-rearing of children is the main moral and legal obligation for both parents. In addition, the way parents fulfill their relationships fully requires the constant development of the child, according to her formation and becoming as a person. Unfortunately, not all parents fully communicate their responsibility for the development of the child, the formation of his personality, the importance of their upbringing for a better future of a child. In those times when parents misuse their shared ties, family law measures may be applied to them when the parental rights greeting appears. According to most of the scientists, in this category of reference, welcoming parental rights, is carried out by the court to ensure the interests of the child.Meanwhile, deprivation of parental rights is also a type of family legal responsibility, the main service of which is the search for parents. However, such an approach to amending the institution inviting parental rights into the means of family legal responsibility, highlighting the punitive function of this event, attempts to assign this procedure to the function, the nature of legal liability (fine, educational, preventive), an unjustified conclusion about public employees, the state, society and parents, and this reason distracts from the main participant in this procedure - the child. When considering the issues of the proclamation of parental rights, the main issue for the court should be the proportionality of the interference with the child's right to a family environment to the level of threat of the child's right to formation, protection, health and education. In their quick reference about the appropriateness of punishing the father, the court cannot be judged, so they cannot be present on the child in any way. It also appears logical that in such cases the court cannot at all achieve the goal of punishing the father and simultaneuoslyensuring the best interests of the child. Pursuit of the goal of punishing the father ambiguously intersects with the interests of the child and negatively affects them. Future research should move away from the concept of deprivation of parental rights as a form of family responsibility because in this case the purpose of punishing the father is provided costing the interests of the child. Keywords: best interests of the child, family law relations, legal responsibility, deprivation of parental rights, family law responsibility.

Abstract Various studies suggest that the maritime industry will continue to face the challenge of seafarer shortages. Young seafarer turnover has become a serious issue that cannot be underestimated. This paper aims to identify the root causes of young seafarer attrition in China and explore relevant solutions. It collects information via semi-structured interviews and questionnaires. Independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA and least-significant difference are utilised for the variance analysis. The findings of the study show that occupational recognition and family responsibility are the two major factors contributing to young seafarers’ outflow. Chinese seafarers’ health status is another important factor that has received little attention. In addition, young seafarers of 31–35 years old have the most possibility of turnover, due to a number of reasons discussed in this paper. Age 40 or thereabouts is viewed as the watershed moment in a seafarer's career, so efforts should be made to help young seafarers pass through the hard period in their early thirties. This paper suggests that a clear career plan could be a potential solution to retain this backbone group as prospective senior officers.

Purpose While several studies have examined the attitudes, perceptions and beliefs of physical activity in different immigrant groups, little is known in this area among the first-generation Ethiopian immigrant population who lives in the USA. The purpose of this paper is to explore the behavioral, normative and control beliefs of physical activity among first-generation Ethiopian immigrants living in the DC-Metro area. Design/methodology/approach The study used semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions and unobtrusive observation. Three structural themes and six textural themes were identified from the three forms of data collections. Qualitative data analysis including topics, categories and pattern analysis were conducted using phenomenological techniques. Findings Findings highlighted similarities to the theory of planned behavior with regard to attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. Consistent with the literature, several salient behavioral determinants of physical activity that could affect participants’ decision-making were identified in the current pilot study. Increased longevity, mental well-being, improved sleep and improved metabolism were listed as the most common benefits of physical activity. Lack of time, family responsibility, neighborhood safety, location of the gym, lack of awareness and social and economic stressors were the major barriers to engage in physical activity. Implications for service providers and future research are discussed. Practical implications This study supported the need for future research into the social aspects of physical activity, as well as barriers to physical activity, including time, family responsibility, culture, income and neighborhood safety. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study exploring the behavioral, normative and control beliefs of physical activity among first-generation Ethiopian immigrants. To understand the beliefs, desires and barriers to physical activity in this population subgroup, the authors examined the behavioral, normative and control beliefs of regular moderate-intensity physical activity using the theory of planned behavior as a conceptual framework. As health education researchers, it is their responsibility to develop theory-driven policies and interventions to promote a healthy lifestyle among these underserved populations.
