The preschool period is an important part of the optimal development of the human being. The preschooler who interacts with other children and adults, who is involved in age-specific play activities, have the opportunity to develop their social part in a harmonious way. As long as preschoolers are induced by other children, or adults, feelings of shame, fear, psychologists and neuroscientists say that the feeling of shame lowers their self-confidence, produces negative beliefs about themselves, reduces creativity and increases the response to stress, consequences that no loving adult wants when trying to correct the child’s behavior. In the social development of preschoolers, the first form of adaptation occurs at the family level, the second at the level of the playgroup and the kindergarten, and the third at the types of activities they carry out.

Latest international directives indicate the need for sustainable development, linking socio-economic and environmental aspects, to reach the goals set by Agenda 2030. In this context, peri-urban agriculture can represent the opportunity to increase cities’ sustainability, improving their liveability level, fulfilling a crucial social part since it assures new sources of job opportunities and territorial requalification. This study presents a peri-urban requalification experience, conducted in Milan, Italy, where, within the European funded project OpenAgri, eight agri-food start-ups began their activities in a peri-urban area at the southern gates of the city. The study aims to assess and evaluate these start-ups’ sustainability using the Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture systems (SAFA), which considers four sustainability pillars: Good governance, economic resilience, environmental integrity and social well-being. The application of SAFA indicators to the eight start-ups revealed their positive aspects and some limitations, typical of some not structured enterprises. The research describes a scalable and replicable example of peri-urban agriculture’s potentiality in solving environmental, social and economic issues and tests FAO’s SAFA framework, which is still unexplored in this sustainability assessment context.

In the first 20 years of the 21st century, the social housing policy in Poland underwent many changes. They resulted from the lack of consistency in this respect and low patience of the ruling parties, which led to profound modifications in the approach to the housing policy practically with every new government. Until the implementation of the National Housing Programme (NHP), the housing policy in Poland was characterised by fragmented solutions, without any comprehensive approach to the issue in question. The aim of the article is to verify the effectiveness of the NHP, especially in terms of its social part, i.e., Mieszkanie Plus [Apartment Plus] package. The programme was described using the framework of theoretical assumptions of the social housing policy and the implementation of this policy in Poland after the year 2000. The author claims that the NHP is the first housing policy in Poland which applies a holistic approach and moves away from the practice of short-term, fragmented solutions. He recommends that those who are in power should exercise patience and refrain from introducing alterations after a very short period from the point of view of investment processes, as the implementation of such a complex housing policy as the NHP is planned for many years.

In the documents reflecting the modern Russian Federal policy in the field of education, one of the main tasks is defined as the well-being of the family and the formation of trust in the family as a social institution. In the article, the social institution of the family is considered as a leading factor in the aspect of managing the social situation of a child's development. The partnership of the family with the systems of General and non-formal education of children is presented as an effective practice of social and ped-agogical interaction, focused on the social and mental development of children. The fea-tures of social and pedagogical interaction of institutions of General and non-formal education of children with the family as a subject of designing an individual educational trajectory are revealed. It is shown that in the modern conditions of modernization of Russian education, there is a tendency of alienation between the family and the school. The school implements the main directions of work with parents, which reflect its lead-ership and guiding role in this process: increase of their psychological and pedagogical knowledge; involvement in the educational process of the school; involvement in public administration of an educational institution. The family manifests itself as a social part-ner of the institution of non-formal education of children, whose activities assume a fo-cus on matching the interests, inclinations, abilities of children. The implementation of social and pedagogical partnership is based on the establishment of links between the family and the educational environment, in the creation of which it actively participates. The interaction of n-education with the family creates conditions for the motivated par-ticipation of children in the implementation of their educational routes. There is an in-crease in the importance of such educational practices, which can include the family in various types of pedagogical activities as an equal subject, along with children.
