The objective of this research was to analyze the protective effect of indole-3-carbinol against the stomach injury induced by acetylsalicylic acid. Male rats were randomly divided into eight groups of six animals in each group. Control group, OMP group, I3C group, OMP+I3C group, AA group, AA+OMP group, AA+I3C group, and AA+OMP+I3C group. The control rats were received distilled water and the experimental rats were received AA at a dose of 500 mg/kg body weight, OMP at a dose of 20 mg/kg body weight, and I3C at a dose of 50 mg/kg body weight either alone or in combination with each other, orally for seven consecutive days. Results of the present study showed ulcer protection in indole-3-cabinol treated rats was confirmed by histoarchitecture, which was comprised of the reduced size of ulcer crater and restoration of mucosal epithelium. Thus, reduced neutrophil infiltration, antiapoptotic and antioxidant action have a pivotal role in the gastroprotective effect of indole-3-carbinol. This paper has been carried out to determine the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of Eocene Darnah limestone which outcrops at Wadi Al Kharsha as an example of the Darnah Formation. The most conspicuous phenomenon is the upward increase of the dolomitization process, whereas, the dolomite content ranges from 4.34 to 15.48 % with an average value of 8.99%. The lime (CaO) represents the major predominant with a high content (48.08%), it can be blend with other carbonates to improve its quality to meet the specifications of raw material for cement manufacture. The relationship between calcium (CaO) and magnesium (MgO) exhibits a significantly strong negative linear correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.967), which emphasizes the dolomitization process, while the relationship between SiO2 and Al2O3 is a positive linear significant relationship with a strong correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.98), whereas, the SiO2 increases with increasing of Al2O3. The calculated mineralogical composition revealed that halite, gypsum, and hematite are considered to be minor constituents, almost less than 1.0%. Bacterial resistance develops due to overuse of antibiotics in addition to the adverse effects of these chemicals. This urges the scientists to exchange these antibiotics with alternatives from natural products. The study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial efficiency of Arum cyrenicum Hruby against a number of medically important pathogenic bacteria. A. cyreniacum corms extracted with petroleum ether, chloroform and methanol, and tested for antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli BTC3, Salmonella typhi BTC10, Pseudomonas aeruginosa BTC4, and Staphylococcus aureus BTC15. A considerable bactericidal efficiency of petroleum ether extract of A. cyrenaicum corms were specifically against gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus BTC15 at (100 mg/ml) petroleum ether and bacteriostatic at (50 mg/ml) of petroleum Ether extract. Whereas, the methanolic extract of A. cyrenaicum corms had bactricidal effect against gram-negative bacteria, Pseudomonas auregenosa BTC4 at (100mg/ml) of methanolic extract. Herby our results indicate that petroleum ether and methanolic extracts of A. cyrenaicum possess significant antibacterial properties. Keywords: Arum cyrenicum, Efficiency, Antibacterial

Truffles are ectomycorrhizal fungi that grow symbiotically with several trees. Truffles are highly valued edible mycorrhizae fungi in economic and gastronomic terms. Desert truffles have been traditionally used as food in Libya. The rotting of truffle due to environmental factors is very common in Libya. The mechanism of truffle rot is complex and attributed mainly due to the infection with fungi, followed by bacteria. In order to document and highlight the rotting of Libyan Desert truffle phenomenon, the existence of microorganisms in the infected fruit body of Tirmania truffles has been investigated. The investigations showed changes in physical characteristics such as color, hardness, and humidity of the studied truffle samples. Also, the results showed a diversity of pathogens involved in the deterioration of truffle includes bacteria (Bacillus pumilus, Citrobacteryoungea), saprophytic fungi (Fusarium solani, Alternariachlamydosporia, and Rhizopusstolonifer). This study concluded the importance of studying microbial flora living in truffle and their environment. Keywords: Libyan Desert truffle; Tirmania; Rotting; Pathogens

Cesarean section (C-section) is a surgical procedure designed to ensure the safety of the mother and the child when vaginal delivery is not possible. There is a progressive increase in cesarean deliveries across the world. C-section is associated with increased morbidity and mortality in pregnant mothers and infants, particularly in developing countries. The aim of the current study was designed to determine the rate and identify the indications and find out complications associated with C-sections in Omar AL-Mukhtar hospital. The descriptive retrospective study was carried out with data retrieved from statistics files from January 2018 to December 2018. A total of 754 births during the study period, out of the 226 were delivered by C-section. The overall C-section rate was 29.9%. The maximum number of C-sections was in the age group of 31-40 years (42%) followed by 41.2% of women in the age group of 21-30 years. The most common indication was elective repeated C-section (17%) followed by previous one C-section with other causes (10.6%), fetal distress (9.29%). The complications in our study were about 47 cases and were less accounted for (20.79%), like, postpartum and intraoperative hemorrhage, and anesthetic complications, which represented 5.75%, and 10.62% respectively. In conclusion: The cesarean delivery rate in this study was higher than the WHO recommendation, and elective repeat cesarean delivery was a major common indicator. The present study aimed to investigate the allelopathic effects of leaf aqueous extracts of introduced Eucalyptus gomphocephala L. (donor species) were collected during different growing seasons at different concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% v/v) on germination percentage, average germination time, plumule and radical length, dry weight of radical and plumule and seedling vigor index (SVI) of native Ceratonia siliqua L. (recipient species) seedlings under laboratory conditions. Results suggested that the germination percentage and all growth parameters of C. siliqua were significantly reduced gradually with the increase of aqueous extract concentration levels and the reduction was varied and could be extract concentration and growing season dependent. The highest phytotoxic effect on germination and seedling growth was exhibited by E. gomphocephala aqueous extract at 100% concentration, followed by 50% concentration. Generally, it is concluded that the allelopathic effect of introduced E. gomphoracephala trees on native Ceratonia siliqua trees has been weak or no effectiveness in some cases under laboratory conditions. This paper examines extensions of an iterative method for inverse evaluation of the source function for two elliptic systems. The method begins with a starting value for the undetermined source. Next, a background field and equations for the error field are obtained. 2-D domains are considered. This method is suitable for Helmholtz and Poisson operators. In the presence of finite-difference grid resolution, a varying amount of boundary data, and methods of filtering the noise in the boundary data and the noise intensity of the boundary data, the performance, accuracy, and iteration count of the algorithm are investigated. Sixty sexually mature, 15- to 22-week-old, male and female laboratory-bred Swiss albinos weighing 21 to 43g each were used in the present study to find out the effect of exposing mice to 35 to 40C0 for 4 hours on their blood parameters using Complete Blood Counts (CBC) as indicators. The experimental design was 4 groups of 2 X 2 factorial arrangements for genders and heat treatments. The genders were: 30 male mice and 30 female mice per treatment. The heat treatments were: Control: 30 mice (15 males and 15 females) kept for four hours at room temperature (25 ± 2 C0), and the heat stress: 30 mice (15 males and 15 females) kept at 35 to 40 0C ambient temperature for four hours. The variables measured were: white blood corpuscles (WBC), red blood corpuscles (RBC), hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and platelets count (PLT). Exposure to the heat produced a profound effect on the blood. Differences in levels of WBC, MCHC, and PLT in males and females heat exposed groups were not significant, but those of the rest (RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, and MCH) were significant. The Paleocene reservoir formations of the Northwest Sirte Basin in North-central, Libya contains chaotic and mound-shaped seismic geometries that may have an impact on the performance of the reservoirs. It is crucial to characterize and interpret these complex geometries for future field development. Therefore, this study was utilized numerous seismic attributes to characterize and enhance the interpretation of the chaotic and mounded geometries. Data conditioning represented by spectral whitening and median filter was first applied to enhance the quality of the seismic data and remove random noise resulted from data acquisition and processing. It provided high-resolution seismic data and better-displayed edges and sedimentological features. Variance, root mean square (RMS), curvature, and envelope attributes were computed from the post-stack 3D seismic data to better visualize and interpret the chaotic and mound-like seismic geometries. Based on the seismic attribute analysis, the chaotic facies were interpreted as barrier reefs forming the margins of an isolated carbonate platform, whereas the small-scale mound-shaped facies was interpreted as patch reefs developed on the platform interior. Data conditioning methods and seismic attribute analysis that were applied to the 3-D seismic data have effectively improved the detection and interpretation of the chaotic and mounded facies in the study area.
