Abstract BackgroundBiobanks are considered a primary mean of supporting contemporary research, in order to deliver personalized and precise diagnostics with public acceptance and participation as a corner stone for their success.AimsThis study aims to assess knowledge, perception, and attitudes towards biomedical research and biobanking among students at the University of Jordan.MethodologyAn online questionnaire was designed, developed, and piloted. It was divided into 5 sections that included questions related to issues of biomedical research and biobanking as well as factors influencing decision to participate.ResultsResponses from 435 students revealed that 52.9% previously heard of biobanks. There was overwhelming acceptance for participation in biomedical, genetic, and biobanking research. A blood sample was the most preferred for donation. Protection of privacy, a consent prior to donation, approval of an ethics committee, and trust towards researchers were the most important factors associated with willingness to participate. On the other hand, vagueness of the type of research performed on samples and not receiving research results had a negative connotation. There was no clear agreement on the type of consent preferred by students, but to be contacted and informed of research results was preferred by the majority. Students also preferred disposal of samples and information when deciding to withdraw from participation.ConclusionThere is strong enthusiasm among students to participate in biomedical research and biobanking with all rights reserved thus providing hope for a very promising future in Jordan.

Due to the uncertainty and difficulty of estimating the investment payback period of the airport bridge facility, a model for calculating the investment payback period of bridge facility is proposed in this paper from the perspective of airport routine operation. Based on the actual operational data of Kunming Changshui Airport, Wuhan Tianhe Airport, and Lijiang Sanyi Airport in 2018, the factors influencing the payback period of bridge facility are the number of bridge facilities and service time, which have been discussed in this paper. According to the simulation, it is concluded that the number of bridge facilities and service time are the key points to the length of the investment payback period, and the annual operating cost of the airline can be saved quite a lot. The research results can be used to assist the leaders’ decision-making of airports and airlines for the promotion of the service of bridge facilities.

Educational Institution's Image: A Case StudyThis article presents our findings about the factors influencing educational institution's image. Based on the literature review we composed a web questionnaire which was send to all current students at University of Maribor's Faculty of Organizational Studies. Based on our research results we found out that eight factors influence educational institution's image which have various amounts of influence on the educational institutions image. The factor with the most influence is the quality of professors and of their lectures and the second most important factor is the learning content. These two factors come before all of the others in the matter of influencing the educational institutions image. Our basic recommendation is to build on these factors starting with the most important ones first.

The determination problem of adhesion coefficient of locomotives’ wheels with rails is described in this paper. The use of methods of mathematical statistics and theory of probability provides wider possibilities for determining the most acceptable (suitable) value of the adhesion coefficient. The random factors influencing on this value are analysed. The use of the adhesion coefficient values based on reliable research results could help maintain uninterrupted (continuous) traffic of heavy freight trains and increase not only the carrying capacity, but also the volume of the transported goods. The paper considers a mathematical model of steady traffic of heavy freight trains pulled by upgraded locomotives of the series 2M62M on railway line with a gradient. The research results show that the actual values of the adhesion coefficient and the total resistance are distributed according to the normal distribution law. A mode of locomotive motion largely depends on the relationship between the total train's running resistance and locomotive tractive force. Finally, basic conclusions are given.

There has been established in the article the correlation and regression relationship between the factors of the country’s development and the level of environmental safety on the basis of identifying the patterns of certain factors sets influencing the volume of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. On the basis of modeling, there has been carried out the analysis of individual groups of factors influencing the volumes of harmful emissions in the countries selected for the study. The nature and degree of influence of the selected factors on the resulting indicators (volumes of harmful emissions) have been determined. It has been found that the number of these factors is significantly higher in France than in Ukraine. This is due to both the political and economic situation in the country. The level of energy efficient technologies implementation and environmental restructuring of business entities are no less significant. The ranking of factors has been carried out based on the value of the correlation coefficient within a separate group and each country. There are also highlighted differences in the research results and their reasons.

Commercialisation is accounted as the third mission of the universities; it is the idea expressing that the universities play a socio-economic role. The current research paper attempts to identify and rank the factors influencing the process of commercializing the research results of Payam-e-Noor University (PNU) to recognise the extent to which the identified factors are influential to pave the way for offering a structural-interpretational model of commercialisation according to the present study’s findings. The delineation of a structural-interpretational model based on the investigation of the factors influencing the commercialisation of the researches’ results contributes to the managers and decision-makers in the area of knowledge commercialisation to, meanwhile paying attention to the existent factors offered in the influential and basic levels, set the ground for the corroboration and improvement of the statuses of the existent influential factors in higher levels of the model thereby to bring about an increase in the success rate of the commercialisation of the studies’ results.

Background. Research conducted in the field of sports science has supported the idea that training high-level sprinters is a consistent process, covering development of not only physical abilities (Bompa & Haff, 2009), but also a consistent personal development through the means of sports-related activity. For many years the prevalent opinion has claimed that success most often depends on the level of athletes’ physical and tactical training; however, growing competition among the athletes calls for a deeper analysis and empirical substantiation in relation to factors influencing athlete training. Qualitative research results have demonstrated that high-level female sprinters prioritize athletic and technical training; however, there is a lack of attention to psychological, tactical and theory- based preparation. Obtained results have revealed that female runners are best motivated to excel, improve their performance by the external (cash prizes) rather than internal factors, the coach’s authority also plays a significantly high role. The aim of research was to discuss factors, influencing the training system of high-level female sprinters. Methods. Conducted qualitative research employed the semi-structured interview method. During the period from January to June of 2015, a total number of 20 best Lithuanian high-performance female sprinters of all time, dominating at the top of the World’s and Europe’s ratings, were interviewed. Results. The obtained research results have demonstrated that in the course of their training process runners fail to concentrate on a significant component of their training – mental training, whereas athletic and technical training, according to the respondents, is integral, thus is a priority element of the sports-related training process. It was also revealed that high-performance female sprinters were far more motivated to excel and improve their results by the external rather than the internal factors. During the interview, the respondents mostly specified being satisfied with a reward, i.e. prizes, but not honour to represent the country, or despite the reward, willingness to improve their results. Personality of the coach is also a key component in the sports-related training among high-performance female sprinters. Data obtained during the interview showed that the coach was considered not only as a specialist, but also an integral part of the training process valued for the personal qualities, such as sincerity, friendliness, ability to motivate and encourage. Conclusions. High-performance female sprinters fail to focus on a significant component of sports-related training process – psychological training. The results have demonstrated that the external factors rather than the internal ones influence their sports-related training and improvement of results. The coach is considered to be an integral part of the sports-related training process.
