Intensive care management can be provided in a small animal facility by centralisation of emergency and monitoring equipment. Good communication between all personnel involved in the case ensures that staff are prepared for complications that could arise related to recovery from anaesthesia.

Giving birth is a life-changing event. It is a crucial phenomenon in the women’s life. To be care, and to be cared for should be the motive for every health care professional’s mind. Good communication, support, clean and aseptic usage of equipment during compassion from staff, and having her wishes respected, can help her feel in control of what is happening and contribute to making birth a positive experience for the woman and her birth companion.

Communication is fundamental and vital to all administrative functions and communication is a means of transmitting information and making oneself understood by another or others, Sanchez & Guo (2005). Good communication skills are very important to ones success as an administrator, Yate (2009). This paper discusses how the lack of communication can affect production within organizations and provides guidelines on how both management and employees can create effectiveness by improving their communication skills. Various methods including surveys, questionnaires and interviews will be used through a descriptive research to generate the information that will guide the research. Person’s communication skills affect both personal and organisational effectiveness, Brun (2010); summers (2010). It seems reasonable to conclude that one of the most inhibiting forces to organisational effectiveness is a lack of effective communication, Lutgen-Sandvik (2010). The purpose of this study is to investigate the lack of communication between management and staff in different organizations. The objective is to identify the causes for miscommunication between management and staff, to investigate the kind of effects that the lack of communication would have on different organizations, to provide recommendations on improving the lack of communication, between management and staff throughout organizations.

In an office space, an LED-based lighting system allows you to perform the function of a data transmitter. This article discusses the cost-effective design and development of a data-enabled LED driver that can transmit data along with its receiving part. In addition, this paper clearly outlines the application of the proposed VLC system in an office environment where ambient light interference is a severe issue of concern. The result shows satisfactory lighting characteristics in general for this area in terms of average horizontal illuminance and illuminance uniformity. At the same time, to evaluate real-time and static communication performance, Arduino interfaced MATLAB Simulink model is developed, which shows good communication performance in terms of BER (10–7) even in presence of ambient light noise with 6 dB signal to interference plus noise ratio. Our designed system is also flexible to work as a standalone lighting system, whenever data communication is not required.

AbstractThe aim of the research is to observe the activities of the students in academic speaking classroom, to analyze the student’s problem in presenting the academic speaking presentation and to identify the student’s special needs in academic speaking presentation.The method used in this research is field research that is qualitative, while the analysis of the data used descriptive analysis. The focus of the research is on the student’s difficulties in presenting academic speaking presentation.In sum up, most of the students of English Education Study Program of Teachers Training and Education Faculty of Muhammadiyah University are lack of: 1) Goal setting on their academic speaking presentation, 2) Prioritization on what the essential point need to be presented, 3) Self-awareness on themselves, while they present the presentation in front of the audience, 4) Self-motivation while presenting the materials, it connects with self-awareness; if students have improved their self-awareness so they will have a great deal of the information that they need to motivate themselves. In short, the students need to be able to motivate themselves to take action; 5) Planning, most of students are not planning the materials well so they are not able to manage their time to present the academic presentation; and 6) Communication skill, strong communication skills will enable the students to build supportive relationships with the audience while presenting the materials, in fact not all the students have good communication skill.In short, the student’s preparation well made their presentation is good and it also established good communication between the presenter and the audiences.Keywords: Academic Speaking, Presentation, Communication

<p>Intensi turnover pada institusi pelayanan kesehatan merupakan masalah serius dan harus segera ditindaklanjuti, karena akan berdampak terhadap kualitas sumber daya manusia yang dapat mempengaruhi dalam pemberian pelayanan kesehatan kepada pasien. Intensi turnover di Rumah Sakit  Awal Bros Batam sejak lima tahun terakhir diatas standar rata-rata turnover dan Rumah Sakit belum mempunyai stategi yang efektif untuk mencegahnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hubungan budaya organisasi dengan risiko intensi turnover di Rumah Sakit Awal Bros Batam. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain kuantitatif dengan cross sectional study. Pengambilan sampel kuantitatif menggunakan kuesioner berdasarkan proposional random sampling, Chi Square dan Uji Regresi Logistic Berganda (Binary Logistic). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budaya organisasi di Rumah Sakit Awal Bros Batam  mempunyai hubungan yang bermakna dengan intensi turnover dengan nilai pValue 0.005. Saran yang dapat diberikan peneliti adalah  menciptakan suasana kerja yang kondusif dengan menjaga hubungan interpersonal dan komunikasi yang baik antar karyawan maupun atasan.</p><p> </p><p>The intention of turnover in health care institutions is a serious problem and must be followed up immediately, because it will have an impact on the quality of human resources that can affect the delivery of health services to patients. The intention of the turnover in Batam Awal Bros Hospital since the last five years is above the average turnover standard and the Hospital does not yet have an effective strategy to prevent it. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between organizational culture and risk of turnover intention at Awal Bros Batam Hospital. The research method uses quantitative design with cross sectional study. Quantitative sampling using a questionnaire based on proportional random sampling, data processing using the mean, Chi Square and Binary Logistic Regression Test. The results showed that the organizational culture in Batam Awal Bros Hospital had a significant relationship with turnover intention with a pValue 0.005. Suggestions that can be given by researchers is establish a conducive work atmosphere by maintaining interpersonal relationships and good communication between employees and superiors</p>

What is scientific research? It is the process by which we learn about the world. For this research to have an impact, and positively contribute to society, it needs to be communicated to those who need to understand its outcomes and significance for them. Any piece of research is not complete until it has been recorded and passed on to those who need to know about it. So, good communication skills are a key attribute for researchers, and scientists today need to be able to communicate through a wide range of media, from formal scientific papers to presentations and social media, and to a range of audiences, from expert peers to stakeholders to the general public. In this book, the goals and nature of scientific communication are explored, from the history of scientific publication; through the stages of how papers are written, evaluated, and published; to what happens after publication, using examples from landmark historical papers. In addition, ethical issues relating to publication, and the damage caused by cases of fabrication and falsification, are explored. Other forms of scientific communication such as conference presentations are also considered, with a particular focus on presenting and writing for nonspecialist audiences, the media, and other stakeholders. Overall, this book provides a broad overview of the whole range of scientific communication and should be of interest to researchers and also those more broadly interested in the process how what scientists do every day translates into outcomes that contribute to society.

Abstract Background It is known that drug shortages represent a major challenge for all stakeholders involved in the process, but there is little evidence regarding insights into patients′ awareness and perspectives. This study aimed to investigate the patients-perceived drug shortages experience and their view on outcomes in different European hospital settings. Furthermore, we wanted to explore information preferences on drug shortages. Methods A retrospective, cross sectional, a mixed method study was conducted in six European hospital settings. One hospital (H) from each of this country agreed to participate: Bosnia and Herzegovina (H-BiH), Croatia (H-CR), Germany (H-GE), Greece (H-GR), Serbia (H-SE) and Poland (H-PO). Recruitment and data collection was conducted over 27 months from November 2017 until January 2020. Overall, we surveyed 607 patients which completed paper-based questionnaire. Questions related to: general information (demographic data), basic knowledge on drug shortages, drug shortages experienced during hospitalization and information preferences on drug shortage. Differences between hospital settings were analyzed using Chi-squared test or Fisher’s exact test. For more complex contingency tables, Monte Carlo simulations (N = 2000) were applied for Fisher’s test. Post-hoc hospital-wise analyses were performed using Fisher’s exact tests. False discovery rate was controlled using the Bonferroni method. Analyses were performed using R: a language and environment for statistical computing (v 3.6.3). Results 6 % of patients reported experiences with drug shortages while hospitalized which led to a deterioration of their health. The majority of affected patients were hospitalized at hematology and/or oncology wards in H-BiH, H-PO and H-GE. H-BiH had the highest number of affected patients (18.1 %, N = 19/105, p < 0.001) while the fewest patients were in H-SE (1 %, N = 1/100, p = 0.001). In addition, 82.5 %, (N = 501/607) of respondents wanted to be informed of alternative treatment options if there was a drug shortage without a generic substitute available. Majority of these patients (66.4 %, N = 386/501) prefer to be informed by a healthcare professional. Conclusions Although drug shortages led to serious medical consequences, our findings show that most of the patients did not perceive shortages as a problem. One possible interpretation is that good hospital management practices by healthcare professionals helped to mitigate the perceived impact of shortages. Our study highlights the importance of a good communication especially between patients and healthcare professionals in whom our patients have the greatest trust.

Abstract Introduction In 2019/2020, the Pharmacy Integration Fund commissioned delivery of cross-sector pre-registration pharmacist training incorporating 3–6 month placements in general practice (GP). GP placements were managed by Health Education England (HEE) and organised as one (or more) blocks, or as spilt weeks/days across base sector (hospital/community) and GP. Trainees had a pharmacist tutor at base and in GP. Aim to evaluate the implementation of cross-sector pre-registration pharmacy placements in GP in England, and to identify barriers and enablers of a successful placement. Methods A qualitative approach was taken, with case study sites purposively sampled for maximum variation: pharmacy base (hospital/community), number of pre-registration pharmacist trainees in base doing GP placement, length of GP placement, organisation of GP placement and geographical location. With consent, trainees and tutors identified as meeting sampling criteria were emailed invitation letters and participant information sheets. Where the trainee and their tutor(s) agreed to participate, semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted January - July 2020. Questions developed from literature(1, 2) and the HEE handbook were tailored to understanding trainees’ and tutors’ views on the implementation of pre-registration pharmacist placements in GP, including benefits, unintended consequences and impacts. Thematic analysis across sites was undertaken with a focus on exploring inter and intra group themes. Results Thirty-four interviews were completed in 11 study sites (5 GP/hospital; 6 GP/community pharmacy). Trainees and tutors considered GP placements had been successful. Contributing factors were: placement planning (induction, contingency arrangements for cover should GP tutor be unavailable); tutors working together (good communication and collaboration); GP tutor support (regular contact, reflection; identifying learning needs; opportunities for learning); integration of GP placements within training year (specific learning/training activities at base during GP placement); and GP tutors having backing of their organisation to supervise effectively. A lack of these impacted negatively. Trainees completed a wide spectrum of activities and gradually moved from administrative to clinical tasks. They built up confidence to undertake patient-facing activities, with more direct supervision at the beginning moving to indirect supervision using debriefing. Thirteen weeks in GP was considered an appropriate minimum duration by all trainees and tutors; those based in community felt that 26 weeks in GP provided more opportunities for clinical and consultation skills learning. Cross-sector experience facilitated a better understanding of patient pathways and the importance of holistic patient care. All trainees considered working in GP in future but highlighted the lack of a cross-sector GP foundation programme. Base tutors felt the time commitment was comparable to single sector placements. Base and GP tutors felt that a clear set of competencies for GP placements and a broader governance framework would ensure standards and consistency. Conclusion This is the first national evaluation of cross-sector pre-registration pharmacists in general practice placements in England. Sampling as case studies enabled data triangulation and generated a multi-faceted understanding on factors impacting GP placements. A key limitation was the volunteer bias associated with recruitment. Key attributes of a successful pre-registration cross-sector training experience are highlighted and can inform policy reforms including change from pre-registration to foundation year training. Climate change is threatening our ability to manage forest ecosystems sustainably. Despite strong consensus on the need for a broad portfolio of options to face this challenge, diversified management options have yet to be widely implemented. Inspired by functional zoning, a concept aimed at optimizing biodiversity conservation and wood production in multiple-use forest landscapes, we present a portfolio of management options that intersects management objectives with forest vulnerability to better address the wide range of goals inherent to forest management under climate change. Using this approach, we illustrate how different adaptation options could be implemented when faced with impacts related to climate change and its uncertainty. These options range from establishing ecological reserves in climatic refuges, where self-organizing ecological processes can result in resilient forests, to intensive plantation silviculture that could ensure a stable wood supply in an uncertain future. While adaptation measures in forests that are less vulnerable correspond to the traditional functional zoning management objectives, forests with higher vulnerability might be candidates for transformative measures as they may be more susceptible to abrupt changes in structure and composition. To illustrate how this portfolio of management options could be applied, we present a theoretical case study for the eastern boreal forest of Canada. Even if these options are supported by solid evidence, their implementation across the landscape may present some challenges and will require good communication among stakeholders and with the public.
