The rationale of this study is to investigate the factors influencing electric vehicle usage intention in Malaysia. Empirical study using survey questionnaires are distributed to a judgment sampling of 500 drivers in Selangor and Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya). A research model based on the Theory of Planned Behavior was proposed as the underlying framework to realize the objective of the study. Linear regression-stepwise technique was used to test the research hypotheses. The results finding indicated that the electric vehicle usage intention in Malaysia is very much influenced by Environmental Concern, Consumer Knowledge, Psychological Benefits and Demographics. Hence, this paper provides valuable information for automotive players planning to market electric vehicles in Malaysia. It offers insights for formulation of marketing strategies that will address the real wants and needs of their future clients based on the identified factors in this study. Meanwhile, policy makers should formulate appropriate intervention and policies to encourage the growth of electric vehicles usage in Malaysia as a strategy to increase energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and minimize the reliance on fossil fuel in the automotive sector. Public acceptance of the products of biotechnology is an important issue for the industry. This paper looks at relevant academic and policy developments in the field of public understanding of science, which considers the role of science in the public sphere. It traces the interaction of scientists, social scientists and the public in the move from early 'deficit' conceptions of public understanding to more recent positions in which the public are seen as active participants in a variety of contexts for science. These newer conceptualisations could usefully contribute to the biotechnology industry's ongoing task of establishing constructive relations with its various publics.

Purpose This study aims to provide novel insights via a joint investigation of the mediating role of environmental concern and ecotourism experiences. It further explores environmental concern and image as moderators of the association between tourists’ ecotourism experience and revisit intention. Design/methodology/approach The study used a three-way framework which provided novelty ways of combined moderation-mediation tests on a sample of 474 foreign tourists. Findings Results show that environmental concern and ecotourism experience mediated the relationships between motivation and revisit intention. The moderating test shows that foreign tourists’ revisit intention and ecotourism experience are highest when environmental concern and image are high. Practical implications Results of this study suggest that it may be beneficial to relate resources of tourism’s organization to prepare for potential sustainable requirements and/or to assist tourists to develop positive pro-environment attitudes (such as inspire tourists’ sense of social responsibility to improve environmental quality), which could possibly improve the feelings about the natural environment as serving the public good and may raise concern about environmental protection reasonability for tourists. Originality/value This research is the first comprehensive examination of foreign tourists’ pro-environment attitudes and conducts three-way interaction between tourists’ ecotourism experience, image and environmental concern, which may provide a benchmark for future studies.

Along with the decrease of administrative influences, the effective functioning of contemporary public administration needs the support and partnership of society. The necessity to consider the reaction of society obliges to inform and to create public understanding on decisions made by the public administration, as well as to ensure an opportunity for individuals to get involved in the decision making process. Thus, the role of communication in public administration performance increases. The regulation of the state needs increasingly greater public acceptance and approval both by responding to the public’s position and wishes and by creating common values and standards that are often achieved by the communication process. In order to understand the role of communications in public administration processes, the author has studied the development of the public administration communication during several state reform stages in Latvia. Using qualitative research methods – interviews, document analysis and comparative analysis and quantitative content analysis –, the trends and challenges in the development of Latvian public administration communication were identified. It is possible to stress two important changes – firstly, the goal of public communications is not just to increase the awareness of the public, but also to involve the public in the state’s development, and secondly, the transformation of communication changes the methods and the way of public administration communication.

In the past decades, service quality and responsiveness of the government towards the citizens were least important but with the approach of E-Government the government activities are now well dealt. This paper withdraws experiences from various studies from different countries and projects facing similar challenges which need to be consigned for the successful implementation of e-governance projects. Developing countries like India face poverty and illiteracy as a major obstacle in any form of development which makes it difficult for its government to provide e-services to its people conveniently and fast. It also suggests few suggestions to cope up with the challenges faced while implementing e-projects in India.
