It is inevitable that high-intensity, wide-spectrum electromagnetic emissions are generated by the power electronic equipment of the Extra High Voltage (EHV) power converter station. The surveillance flight of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is thus, situated in a complex electromagnetic environment. The ubiquitous electromagnetic interference demands higher electromagnetic protection requirements from the UAV construction and operation. This article is related to the UAVs patrol inspections of the power line in the vicinity of the EHV converter station. The article analyzes the electromagnetic interference characteristics of the converter station equipment in the surrounding space and the impact of the electromagnetic emission on the communication circuits of the UAV. The anti-electromagnetic interference countermeasures strive to eliminate or reduce the threats of electromagnetic emissions on the UAV’s hardware and its communication network.

In the planetary magnetospheres there are specific places connected with velocity breakdown, reconnection, and dynamo processes. Here we pay attention to sliding layers. Sliding layers are formed in the ionosphere, on separatrix surfaces, at the magnetopauses and boundaries of stellar astrospheres, and at the Alfvén radius in the equatorial magnetosphere of rapidly rotating strongly magnetized giant planets. Although sliding contacts usually occur in thin local layers, their influence on the global structure of the surrounding space is very great. Therefore, they are associated with non-local processes that play a key role on a large scale. There can be an exchange between different forms of energy, a generation of strong field-aligned currents and emissions, and an amplification of magnetic fields. Depending on the conditions in the magnetosphere of the planet/exoplanet and in the flow of magnetized plasma passing it, different numbers of sliding layers with different configurations appear. Some are associated with regions of auroras and possible radio emissions. The search for planetary radio emissions is a current task in the detection of exoplanets.

AbstractMetals form an essential part of the Universe at all scales. Without metals we would not exist, and the Universe would look completely different. Metals are primarily produced via nuclear processes in stars, and spread out through winds or explosions, which pollute the surrounding space. The wanderings of metals in-and-out of astronomical objects are crucial in determining their own evolution and thus that of the Universe as a whole. Detecting metals and assessing their relative and absolute abundances and energetics can thus be used to trace the evolution of these cosmic components. The scope of this paper is to highlight the most important open astrophysical problems that will be central in the next decades and for which a deep understanding of the Universe’s wandering metals, their physical and kinematical states, and their chemical composition represents the only viable solution. The majority of these studies can only be efficiently performed through High Resolution Spectroscopy in the soft X-ray band.

This article addresses spatial reconstruction of the manor complex with the help of 3D modeling and 3D visualization. The topicality of the issue is determined by a big number of dvoryane architectural monuments in Moscow Oblast which have been partially or totally lost, but bear historical and cultural importance at the local or the regional level. Not many of them will be restored but most of them are related to famous or influential noble dynasties that had played an important role in Russian history.  Virtual reconstruction of these complexes is a way to “revive” this history and search for new aspects of dvoryanstvo’s life in the 17th – early 20th centuries. The article describes the main methods and technological solutions of spatial reconstruction of a manor complex by the example of Nikolskoe-Uryupino Manor (Krasnogorskiy Urban Okrug, Moscow Oblast). The manor has become known due to Golitsyny dynasty that created a picturesque architectural and park ensemble. The current state of the complex and many different sources at hand provide for detailed reconstruction of the main buildings as well as create the surrounding space similar to the original one. The reconstruction is described in details starting with the source analysis and methodical studies to the description of the virtual projects visualization.

The human species transforms the landscape to meet its needs, but landscape resources and valuable features at the same time affect wellbeing in the context of human activity. In these mutually conditioned interactions, two processes playing a key role are the so-called landscape perception and landscape projection. This article presents: (1) a review of theories playing a key role in the development of knowledge on landscape perception; (2) the basis for landscape projection as a logical and creative continuation of perception processes; (3) an outline of the theory of physiognomic landscape structure and of possibilities for it to gain practical application; (4) the results of the first Polish research into the public’s expectations where quality of the landscape is concerned. Perception of the landscape entails the receipt of stimuli from surrounding space with the help of the senses. It serves primarily in knowledge-based transformation of landscape systems, in a manner that meets ever-more exacting requirements on the part of society when it comes to living in an environment of the highest quality. Only a little scientific work has been devoted to the process of landscape projection. This is therefore a new research field, just opening up, which has the potential to give rise to a group of space-projection theories.

The article presents the concept of reconstruction of the Fertiki unit of the biogeoecological station of the Udmurt State University (hereinafter – the Fertiki campus), formed in the process of joint work of geographers and designers. The presence of a field campus is a necessary condition for the professional skills and abilities formation of students in a number of training areas in a classical university. However, the requirements for the campuses internal space formation are changing. If one and a half to two decades ago it was enough to have a minimally equipped site on the territory that meets the basic needs in terms of the field practices and scientific research content, now the need to expand the functionality and types of activities is becoming more and more obvious. At the same time, it is proposed to put natural, cultural and historical features of the area within which the campus is located as the basis for modern design solutions. In conditions of limited funding and a general unstable financial situation, there is a need for more efficient use of the property complex of the university, including field campuses. They should not only satisfy the needs of conducting educational practices and scientific research, but become complex out-of-town (field) divisions of universities aimed at various types of activities. The proposed concept provides the reconstruction of the biogeoecological station in the direction of forming a focus point of natural and cultural landscapes of a vast territory. On the one hand, the campus must organically fit into the surrounding space, and on the other hand, it must reflect its main natural, cultural and historical features in order to get rich content. Only complexity and polyfunctionality can be stimuli and conditions for its development.

Abstract Recently, phase change materials (PCMs) have attracted significant attention due to their promising applications in many fields like solar energy and chip cooling. However, the present PCMs seriously suffer inevitable leakage and low thermal conduction. Magnetism can produce invisible field effects in the surrounding space. If there exist magnetic particles within this region, the effects will act on them emerging various fascinating phenomena. Inspired by this, we introduce hard magnetic particles (which can keep the effect after removing the magnetic field) to PCMs synthesizing an unprecedented magnetically tightened form-stable PCMs (MTPCMs), achieving multifunctions of leakage-proof, dynamic assembly and morphological reconfiguration, superior high thermal (increasing of 1400%~1600%) and electrical (>104 S/m) conductivity, and prominent compressive strength. Novel free-standing temperature control and high-performance thermal and electric conversion systems based on MTPCMs are furthermore developed. This work is a significant step toward exploiting a smart PCM for electronics and low-temperature energy storage.

Abstract For an analysis of the acoustical properties of a multistage gear mechanism, a technique was used that combines a dynamic calculation of the mechanism as multimass multicoupling system and the SEA method for the calculation of acoustical energy. The dynamic calculation was used to determine the energy introduced into the mechanism’s gear meshes and the energy transmitted to the housing. The SEA method was used for the calculation of propagation of acoustical energy in the structure and its radiation in the surrounding space. Such a combination permits us to utilize the advantage of dynamic calculation accurately describing the mechanism’s performance and the SEA method for describing an acoustical model having the elements of high mode density in a wide frequency range. Some useful results were obtained which permit us to reduce noise level of the mechanism.

Nonverbal communication plays an important role in the process of human interaction. Means of nonverbal communication as a kind of language of feelings are the same product of social development as the language of words. Among such means are facial expressions, views, postures, gestures, touches, behavior in the surrounding space. All these types of nonverbal messages interact, sometimes complementing each other, sometimes contradicting each other.

The author discusses the origin and meaning of his Light Dance artwork. The simple approach—placing a source of light on the body and thereby manipulating the illumination of the surrounding space through body movements—alters the viewer’s perception of space and time. Architecture appears malleable as the performer affects the size, shape and speed of light forms that reach from the body to the boundaries of the room. Light, in this perceptual environment, is not a mere transmitter of information between the invariant material surroundings and the eye of the viewer; light is a space-defining extension of the performer’s body that transposes movement expression from the individual body to the shared space. An inversion of subjective and objective “spaces” is realized in the experience of Light Dance wherein the prevailing conceptual hierarchy of light and vision is overcome.
