The article presents an analysis of the motives, needs, interests, beliefs and students valuable orientations to the physical culture and sport. The study showed that it is necessary to modernize the process of physical education and improve some educational programs in high school. The ability to swim is a professional and applied skill in the structure of pedagogical specialties professional competencies. In order to improve applied swimming skills, as well as to maintain the interest of University students in physical education, a technology for training and improving swimming skills was developed. A set of available synchronized swimming exercises was selected and included in the program of the elective discipline “Physical culture and sports, in the course “Swimming”. Two groups were selected: an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group trains with use available means of synchronized swimming. The control group exercise by the generally accepted method. The experiment lasted for one academic year (2017-2018). The classes were held once a week, for 2 academic hours: 45 minutes – a lesson in the hall and 45 minutes – on the water. The experimental group’s students showed results significantly superior to the results of control group’s students in all indicators of swimming fitness. The study shows the possibility of using a large arsenal of synchronized swimming tools to improve the swimming skills of University students.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a one-session-per-week stretching program on hamstring extensibility among schoolchildren in the physical education (PE) setting. Thirty seven 9-year-old schoolchildren from two classes were clustered and randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=19) or a control group (n=18). During PE classes, the experimental students performed a 3-minute stretching program once a week for the whole academic year (a total of 32 calendar weeks, but 28 weeks of intervention after excluding holidays). Hamstring extensibility (estimated by the classic sit-and-reach test) was assessed at the beginning (week 0), in the middle (week 18) and at the end (week 34) of the stretching intervention program. The results of the two-way analysis of variance showed that the PE-based stretching program improved statistically significantly the students’ sit-and-reach scores in the middle and at the end of the intervention (p<.01). Since in PE many curricular contents need to be developed each academic year and the subject is also restricted by its limited curriculum time allocation, teachers could improve students’ hamstring extensibility by only a one-session-per-week stretching program. Therefore, in addition to the improvement of students’ flexibility levels, this intervention program might permit regular development of other PE curricular contents. This knowledge could help and guide teachers to design programs that guarantee a feasible and effective development of flexibility in the PE setting.

In the modern system of school education, there are approaches to the implementation of physical education content with the help of various variable modules based on the sports means use. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the variable module "Wrestling" in the physical education of high school students on the main indicators of preparedness. Material and methods. The organization of study provided that during the 2017-2019 school years in Shchyrets secondary school №1 I-III degrees named after the Hero of Ukraine Bohdan Ilkiv of Shchyrets village council we introduced an experimental module "Wrestling" into the educational process of high school students in the discipline "Physical Culture". In general, in the 2017-2019 academic years to our study were involved 53 students of 10th forms (31 boys and 22 girls). In the 2017-2019 academic year – 74 students of 11th forms (41 boys and 33 girls). We used the following methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodical data of and sources of the Internet, analysis of documentary materials, pedagogical testing, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics. There were selected 8 tests which determined the general preparedness, 12 tests for special preparedness. To determine the technical and tactical preparedness of students we fixed six basic groups of techniques which they had to demonstrate. Results and discussion. There are established the indicators of efficiency according to the percentage values of changes in the main groups of indicators (general, special, technical and tactical preparedness) of high school students. Finding out the level of general competencies allowed us to substantiate that there were significant changes in all indicators (p≤0.05–0.01). According to the analysis of special preparedness (competencies), we obtained a significant (p≤0.01) improvement in the results of most tests and control exercises. The percentage values can be observed significant variability in the levels of representatives’ changes in different subgroups. Conclusion. The study confirms a number of experts’ opinions that high school students need a little more time to form a sustainable level of preparedness and more profound adaptive changes in indicators of different preparedness components. The implementation of the structure and content of the variable module significantly affected the level of general and special competencies and technical and tactical preparedness of high school students (both girls and boys). However, the educational process in secondary schools cannot be equated in organizational and methodological conditions, basic tasks and the main purpose with training in sports sections

Physical education in younger school age is very important. But in practice, this subject is not carried out regularly or is not performed by pedagogues of physical culture. Problem of the research was to determine whether the developmental gymnastics program had an effect on development of explosive strength with younger school age girls. The sample of respondents for experimental group consisted of 59 girls and for control group 45 girls aged 9 to 11 years. To determine the level of explosive strength three tests were used. Data processing was performed by the statistical program SPSS v. 20. For all data, the parameters of descriptive statistics were calculated. To determine the differences between the groups, a t-test for independent samples was used with calculation of significance of the size of difference (Cohen's d). The research has shown the effects of the developmental gymnastics program on the development of explosive strength with girls aged 9 to 11 years. Differences in explosive strength were identified in favor of the experimental group in two out of the three variables. The results obtained accurately indicate that respondents included in the development gymnastics program have a significantly higher level of explosive strength than respondents who only attended physical education class.

The Pilates method was developed about 100 years ago. It is popular among students. This method combines low-impact, health-improving and muscle-strengthening exercises for backbone and muscles strengthening. It may be said that Pilates provides complex load for all muscle groups. In physical education classes at Agricultural University, aerobics and Pilates means are wildly used. In this article, the results of the experimental method, based on the usage of Pilates means among Agricultural University students, are given. The students doing aerobics were divided into 2 groups (control group and experimental group). During the academic year, the students of the experimental group were doing Pilates. The lecturers of Physical Education Department at Izhevsk State Agricultural Academy were monitoring state of health and physical conditions of the students. Finally, positive results were received. The effectiveness of the experimental Pilates method was proven, as physical and mental conditions of the students were improved. And some of the health indicators were increased.

The research is an attempt to investigate experimentally the effect of vocabulary and dictation ESP programme on Iraqi students’ achievement at College of Physical Education for Women. The learners have to know what a word means and what it look like.  These are obvious aspects in teaching foreign language and teachers need to make sure that both these aspects are accurately learned.     The sample of the present research is (46) students of first year stage, College of Physical Education for Women, University of Baghdad. At the academic year 2012- 2013.      It is hypothesized that there are no significant differences between the experimental group taught ESP by vocabulary and dictation programme (Sadiq ,2012) and control group taught ESP with traditional English Course (Sadiq, 2010)  in pre and post tests.      To fulfill the aim of the research an experiments has been designed with two groups of students chosen randomly.  Both groups were matched in the subjects’ achievement in English for previous academic year (2011-2012).  Both groups have tested in pre and post tests. The experiment lasted nine weeks.     After analyzing the results statistically, it has been found that there are significant differences between the two groups in pre- test as well as post test. This indicates that using the vocabulary and dictation programme is more effective in teaching these two skills. Accordingly, the null hypotheses have been rejected.     Finally, English teachers at College of Physical Education are recommended to use the programme to improve the students’ achievement in vocabulary and dictation skills.

The purposes of the study were to examine the students’ learning effects of different physical education curriculum model, which merged Teaching Personal and Responsibility (TPSR), respectively, with the Sport Education Model (SEM) and Traditional Teaching Model (TTM) for better learning effects in high school physical education classes. A pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design was used with an experimental group (TPSR-SEM; 75 students, Mage = 16.78 ± 0.54 years) and a control group (TPSR-SEM; 58 students, Mage = 16.82 ± 0.57 years). Experimental and control group sessions spanned 32 lessons over 16 weeks. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used for statistical analysis. The findings of research showed that the TPSR-SEM experimental group could improve more learning effects than the TPSR-TTM control group in the dependent variables, including sport self-efficacy, sport passion, responsibility, and game performance. We concluded that TPSR-SEM group could improve more learning effects than the TPSR-TTM group in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains for physical education courses. It is worthy to develop TPSR-SEM in the physical education curriculum.
