The work is devoted to geoinformation modeling of potential and really possible yield of leading agricultural crops in the agricultural landscapes of the Simferopol region of the Republic of Crimea. The study area is characterized by high agricultural development, complicated physical and geographical location and insufficient moisture. Algorithm for geoinformation modeling of potential and really possible crop yields by the amount of arrival of photosynthetically active radiation for each point of input surface is considered. The resulting cartogram of averaged values deviation of potential and really possible yields from actual for leading agricultural crops can be used in the development of scientifically based recommendations for transformation of agricultural lands in complicated physical and geographical conditions.

AbstractDespite harsh climate, agriculture on the northern margins of Russia still remains the backbone of food security. Historically, in both regions studied in this article – the Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – agricultural activities as dairy farming and even cropping were well adapted to local conditions including traditional activities such as horse breeding typical for Yakutia. Using three different sources of information – official statistics, expert interviews, and field observations – allowed us to draw a conclusion that there are both similarities and differences in agricultural development and land use of these two studied regions. The differences arise from agro-climate conditions, settlement history, specialization, and spatial pattern of economy. In both regions, farming is concentrated within the areas with most suitable natural conditions. Yet, even there, agricultural land use is shrinking, especially in Karelia. Both regions are prone to being affected by seasonality, but vary in the degree of its influence. Geographical location plays special role, and weaknesses caused by remoteness to some extent become advantage as in Yakutia. Proximity effect is controversial. In Karelia, impact of neighboring Finland is insignificant compared with the nearby second Russian city – Saint Petersburg.

The article assesses the change in air temperature and precipitation, and also examines the impact of climate change on crop yields in the Republic of Armenia. As a source of information, the actual data of agrometeorological observations of the GEO "Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring" of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia and the National Statistical Service are used. As a result of the study, it turned out that there are trends towards an increase in the average annual values of air temperature and heat provision of crops (in total temperatures above 10.0 ° C). In the studied area, there are no regular changes in the amount of atmospheric precipitation over the year. The impact of climate change will only worsen and lead to various problems in water industry, agriculture, energy, health and other sectors. In the republic in 2000-2018 are observed of both the gross harvest and agricultural crops yield increase, with the exception of the tobacco crop. However, this does not mean that agricultural crops are not affected by climate change.

This paper dealt with the subject of sustainable agricultural development in Sudan, whereby it mentioned the importance and status of the agricultural sector in Sudan to the citizens and the whole world. Sudan represents the food basket of the Arab, Islamic and African world and is one of the dependable countries in achieving world food security. The paper also addressed the types of agriculture in Sudan and the arrangement of agricultural crops grown in Sudan and its position on the global map of agricultural products. The data of this research has been collected from the sources and references that dealt with these aspects in addition to the reports available at various authorities, especially the Sudanese Governmental bodies represented in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Sudan, and materials, reports, studies and researches published in the World Wide Web (Internet). This paper concluded that Sudan has many geographical components that can make it a pioneer in the field of sustainable agricultural development, due to its potentialities to produce various agricultural crops that contribute to the achievement of food security for it and for the world as a whole. With these potentialities it can play an effective role in alleviating poverty and achieving sustainable agricultural development conducive to economic and social development based upon agricultural production. The components of sustainable agricultural development in the Sudan are the diversity of the climate, the diversity of agricultural land, the different soil and the availability of water resources from many sources, such as the Nile River, its tributaries, groundwater and rainwater. This is in addition to the availability of suitable areas for agriculture and the existence of agricultural workers with extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of various agricultural works. The paper also concluded that Sudan has a wide variety of agricultural crops, but it faces many problems that negatively impact crop areas and the quantities produced. These include drought, desertification, poor agricultural finance and the lack of modern scientific methods in agriculture and narrow markets. The paper recommended the need for agricultural finance, the opening of new markets abroad, the expansion of modern methods, the development of new varieties of improved seeds and the fight against drought and desertification.

Kata kunci : penyuluh, smsgateway, web   ABSTRACT  As an agricultural area, the agricultural sector is the most important livelihood for most people in the district of Musi Rawas. For this reason, the development of land potential and empowerment of farmer actors is a field of work that needs special attention. In this effort, agricultural counseling is an important factor, agricultural extension is no longer just a factor of accelerating development but as a trigger as well as boosting agricultural development (Dimas and Djuaini, 2014) especially in the District of Musi Rawas. The biggest obstacle in the implementation of extension activities in the four lawang district is the factor of area and geographical location of the Musi Rawas District where Musi Rawas district has an area of approximately 2,256.44 km2 with geographical contours of the hills so that the implementation of agricultural extension services cannot be carried out quickly, precisely and reach remote areas. SMS Gateway is a combination of communication technology and information technology. SMS Gateway can send and receive data via SMS sent by cellphone to computer or from computer to cellphone (Latief Noor Astuwaito, 2012). By utilizing this technology, the farmers in the Four Lawang district will find it easier to obtain information about the procedures for cultivating agricultural crops, agricultural commodity prices and problems regarding agriculture. In addition, the implementation of agricultural extension activities will be easier and able to reach remote areas.   Keywords : agent, smsgateway, web

The Republic of Croatia has a long tradition of fruit growing due to its geographical location, climatic conditions, and high quality of fruit crops, especially apple fruits. Apples can be used for the formulation of functional foods either in processed form (e.g., juice), or as a by-product (e.g., apple pomace). However, there is a growing demand for functional foods derived from ancient and traditional plant sources as they are recognized as a very valuable source of health-promoting bioactive ingredients. Similarly, old apple cultivars (Malus domestica Borkh.) are characterized by good morphological and pomological properties, less need for chemicals during cultivation and the higher share of biologically active compounds (BACs) with better sensory acceptability compared to commercial cultivars. However, their nutritional and biological potential is underestimated, as is their ability to be processed into functional food. The importance in preserving old apple cultivars can also be seen in their significance for improving the nutritional composition of other apple cultivars through innovative cultivation strategies, and therefore old local apple cultivars could be of great importance in future breeding programs.

AbstractForecast distributions based on historical yields and subjective expectations for 1987 expected crop yields were compared for 90 Western Kentucky grain farms. Different subjective probability elicitation techniques were also compared. In many individual cases, results indicate large differences between subjective and empirical moments. Overall, farmer expectations for 1987 corn yields were below those predicted from their past yields, while soybean expectations were above the historical forecast. Geographical location plays a larger role than crop in comparisons of relative variability of yield. Neither elicitation technique nor manager characteristics have significant effects on the comparisons of the forecasts.

On the example of the territory of the Altai Krai, the article traces the consequences of destruction of the natural landscapes structure, the creation of artificial elements of their ecological framework of agricultural landscapes, which currently needs restoration and optimization. The thesis is substantiated that the ecological frame of the Altai Krai territory should be as close as possible to the structure of its natural landscapes, which will ensure the productivity of farmland. The most important elements of the ecological framework of forest-steppe and especially steppe landscapes are forest belts, for the creation of which it is necessary to use elements of a water-erosion network, tree species that form a zonal type of vegetation. Creating a system of protective forest plantations in combination with ponds and terrace embankments can increase crop yields up to 25-50 centners per hectare. Landscape planning can serve as a tool for creating an ecological framework for a territory.

The present alarming environmental world crisis is the uncontrolled generation and illegal dumping of solid waste (SW) that poses great harm to public health and the environment (Ali & Sion, 2014). Poor waste management may cause air, water, and soil contamination. The Republic Act 9003 (RA 9003) or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act (ESWMA) had been in place for several years. However, its implementation was a challenge for every LGU, including in a highly urbanized city. Hence, the paper examined the level of implementation of the provisions and enforcement of prohibited acts on ESWMA of barangays as assessed by community leaders as a whole and according to their geographical location and income. Also, it explores the challenges encountered by the barangays and the recommendations of the community leaders in the implementation of RA 9003 and the local ordinance enacted by the city.
