This paper presents a case study of investigating damage and assessing the current detailed technical state of the historic apartment house located at No. 31 in Dobra Street in Warsaw. The purpose of this assessment is to determine the possibility of the reconstruction of its last overground storey and the utility attic. Moreover, the impact of the second underground line construction process and the influence of transport vibrations caused by both the street traffic and the underground on the damage of the supporting structure of the building is determined. The study was conducted in order to prepare the design for the planned last overground storey reconstruction considering the influence of the construction process on the adjacent buildings and the surrounding urbanized area. The study of the building documentation and the field investigation on damage in the existing building allow the authors to conclude that the current technical condition of this building does not exclude the possibility of making the superstructure of this building. Moreover, the results of the carried out vibrations transmitted by the ground to the load-bearing structure of this building show that neither the transport-caused vibrations nor the noise do not cause a harmful effect both on the damaged masonry supporting structure of this building, as well as on its residents. The conditions of reconstruction of this historic building are also specified in this paper.

AbstractThe article presents detailed analysis of the case of the renovation of one of historic tenement houses in Warsaw. Other, similar cases analyzed in less detail- were called verification cases. The aim of the article was, first of all, to present the scale of discrepancies between planned and performed amount of works and possibly precise indication of the reasons for these underestimations. The scope of the research included the inventory of the technical condition of selected building elements, the execution of bill of quantities, quantity survey and cost estimates of selected works. The conducted research shows that quantity survey of works subjected to analysis such as: repair of walls, chimneys and brick walls reached the value at least twice as large. The planned cost of works calculated on the basis of the event was exceeded approximately twice. This was mainly due to the fact that the impact of repair works on deterioration of the technical condition of existing building elements was not foreseen. The poor technical condition of elements that were covered was not foreseen either. On the basis of the case studied, universal observations about renovated facilities can be provided. First of all, it should be stated that a person who makes bill of quantities on such facilities should have executive experience on similar projects. Thus, a good practice would be a cooperation with a person experienced in the implementation of similar investments.

Naval propulsion systems are characterized by a high degree of complexity within a single system and a large variation between the solutions applied to individual vessels. In this situation, issues relating to the comprehensive diagnostic is a serious problem. Diagnostics models are useful to made the this problem easier. It should be emphasized that it is impossible to develop a universal model correct for all types of vessels. The paper presents general guidelines for the creation of diagnostic models. The results of first stage of studies on diagnostic model covers unit equipped with a twin-engine twin-shaft drive system had been presented.Introduction Changes of technical state of the machine occur as a result of its response to changes in the energy emitted by them. If qualitative and quantitative parameters of this energy are known diagnostician after proper analysis is able to determine the technical condition of the machine. It can be concluded that the technical diagnostics is a test of object response to the impact of energy causing change of its technical condition [9]. As far as the destruction of the object model is concerned we find that the degree of wear of the machine is proportional to the energy dissipated from it.

The research presented in the article, which includes methods, models, and conclusions, contains synthetic and analytical model solutions concerning the problems of the technical maintenance and wear of residential buildings with a traditional construction. The cause and effect relationships between the occurrence of damage in the elements of tenement houses (treated as proof of their maintenance conditions), and the size of the technical wear of these elements were determined using a representative and purposefully selected sample of 102 residential buildings erected during the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in Wroclaw’s “Downtown” district. Quantitative damage analysis, which was carried out using empirical (visual) methods of assessing the technical condition of a building, indicates the type and size of damage to the building’s elements that are characteristic for the relevant maintenance conditions. Research concerning the cause–effect relationships (“damage–technical wear”) in observed states allows for a numerical approach to the impact of building maintenance conditions on the degree of the technical wear of its components. The maintenance and exploitation conditions determine the degree of the technical wear of the elements of an old residential building. The exploitation condition of these buildings is manifested by damage to elements caused by water and moisture penetration, which is especially important for poorly maintained buildings. The article shows that the age of the elements of an old residential building with a traditional construction is of secondary importance in the process of the intensity of losing its serviceability value. It was calculated that no more than 30% of the damage of building components is explained by the passage of time, and it is therefore not age that determines the course of the technical wear of the elements of the analyzed tenement houses.

"The use of VR technology within education is an area that has generated great interest in recent years, so this work follows that trend and contains nuances related to user-centred design education. The objective of this work is to identify students’ perceptions of the use of VR technology for ethnographic research. A group of 20 industrial design students from Tecnologico de Monterrey conducted a field investigation, which included interviews and surveys, using HMD with videos and stereoscopic images of a public park in Monterrey, Mexico. Based on the research and information analysis, areas of opportunity were identified and urban furniture proposals for the public park that place were generated. Once the design process was completed, an evaluation instrument was applied to measure, through statistical analysis, the students' perceptions of their experience using technology in the design process; gender, qualification obtained and the relevance of the technology used was also considered."

At modern manufacturing enterprises, machines and mechanisms that emit pulsed noise are widely used. Pulse noise has a more harmful effect on workers than time-constant, time fluctuating and intermittent noises. Pulse noise reduction is possible through the application of design changes in the pulse noise source and the development of organizational, technological, construction and acoustic measures. The choice of specific events is made on the basis of their acoustic efficiency assessment. For this purpose, it is necessary to have a method for calculating pulse noise that takes into account its space-time characteristics and their possible changes with structural changes of the source, as well as with changes in the space-planning and acoustic parameters of premises. In the article, to assess the acoustic efficiency of pulse noise, it is proposed to use a combined calculation method developed by the authors, taking into account the real mirror-diffuse nature of sound reflection from the room fences. On its basis, it is analyzed the possibilities of using various methods and means to reduce the impact of noise on the workers in rooms with pulsed sound sources.

The hydraulic drive of a construction machine is a complex dynamic system that is subjected to many dynamic loads of a variable nature and operates under conditions of variable external influences caused by various factors. During operation, these loads cause failure of the hydraulic transmission elements. To prevent these malfunctions, technical diagnostics should be applied by determining their current technical condition and remaining service life. The article assesses the working condition of hydraulic cylinders using a mathematical model. Using matlab/simulink software to simulate the hydraulic cylinder and hydraulic piston speed when changing the hydraulic cylinder clearance. The simulation results are presented. Keywords: diagnostic, hydraulic cylinder, simulation, development

Development and practical implementation of the enterprise industrial safety management system considering the new requirements of the legislation on creation of the state system for monitoring, remote control, technical certification, and diagnostics of technical devices at hazardous production facilities supervised by Rostechnadzor is discussed in the article. To perform automated collection, recording, generalization, systematization, and evaluation of the information on the parameters that characterize safety of the enterprise hazardous equipment as a whole and each technical device, a block diagram of the enterprise automated industrial safety management system is proposed. The basics are suggested for creating the automated system containing a database that includes all the technical documentation, certificates and expert opinions, repair documentation and accompanying documents (orders, instructions, audit conclusions, etc.) for the efficiency of tracking the technical condition in real time considering changes in all the controlled parameters of the enterprise technological complexes. It is noted in the article that the assessment of the technical condition and life of single and unique technical devices that make up the bulk of equipment in hazardous production should be carried out already at the manufacturing stage by combining technical control with technical diagnostics, and their results should be included in the technical passport of the device. The need in this information for the operators is invaluable, especially after working out the manufacturer’s designated period of safe operation and for evaluating the actual technical condition and comparing it with its original, which was documented during fabrication. Data on the initial state allows to qualitatively assess the degradation processes that are developing during operation and consider them when evaluating the life of a technical device and conduct a qualitative audit of the industrial safety management system.

We compared the impact of hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia on vascular function, vascular structure and fibrinolytic balance in rabbits. To this end, vascular reactivity was studied in aortic rings from rabbits fed a control diet, a diet containing 0.5% cholesterol+14% coconut oil (mixed dyslipidaemia) or a diet containing 1% cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia) for 12–14 weeks. Morphometric analysis of aorta was also performed and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) as well as tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) plasma activities were measured. Both diets induced a similar increase in cholesterol plasma levels, although triacylglycerols (triglycerides) were increased in animals with mixed dyslipidaemia. Hypercholesterolaemia was associated with intimal thickening, reduction in acetylcholine-induced relaxation (P<0.05) and increased vasoconstriction induced by acetylcholine+NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) when compared with controls (P<0.05). These effects were more marked (P<0.05) in animals with mixed dyslipidaemia. Incubation with ifetroban, a thromboxane A2/prostaglandin H2 receptor antagonist, increased acetylcholine-induced relaxation (P<0.05) and reduced acetylcholine+L-NAME contraction (P<0.05) in both diet groups. In contrast, the presence of PD 145, an endothelin (ET)A/ETB receptor antagonist, exerted these effects only in rabbits with mixed dyslipidaemia. Both hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia induced a similar increase in PAI-1 and a similar decrease in t-PA plasma activities. These data suggest that hypertriglyceridaemia can increase the deleterious effects of hypercholesterolaemia on endothelial function and vascular structure. This additional harmful effect exerted by triacylglycerols on endothelial function could, in part, be mediated by ET.

The article suggests an approach to determine structural elements technical condition, based on the mathematical probabilistic apparatus of technical diagnostics. Diagnostics are performed using probabilistic methods of complex technical systems conditions recognition. Probabilistic parameters are calculated according to Bayes’s rule. The paper shows a diagnostics example of intermediate floor elements and systems in the old urban development building. Both the suggested method and information theory methods are used during diagnostics.

Background: The effect of endometriomas itself on the ovarian responsiveness that relate to ovarian reserve had been reported with several inconsistent results. In one study evaluated women with unilateral endometriomas, ovaries with disease showed lower response to ovarian stimulation than contralateral healthy ovaries .However, recent study on infertile women with un-operated unilateral small endometriomas did not support difference in ovarian responsiveness. The aim was to evaluate the impact of presence of endometriomas on ovarian reserve as measured by circulating AMH. Methods: This retrospective study was carried out on 80 female patients in childbearing period attending outpatient clinic and/or inpatient department of obstetrics and gynecology at Tanat University Hospital and the study was conducted directly after approval in the period from Apri, 2019 till April 2020. Group (A): Study group: 60 female patients aged between 20 to 30 years old GROUP (B): Control group: 20 age matched female with healthy ovaries. Results: there is no statistical significant difference between groups as regard Menarche (years), Regularity and Amount of menstrual blood flow. There is statistical significant difference between groups as regard fixed tender Right Ventricular Failure. But there are no statistical significant differences between groups as regard nodule in rectovaginal septum, fixed tender adnexal masses, association with adenomyosis and infertility. There is highly statistical significant difference between case and control groups as regard AMH levels. there are highly statistical significant positive correlation between duration of endometriosis and each of presence of pelvic pain, cyst diameter and Visual Analogue Scale. Conclusions:    Women with endometrioma have significantly lower serum AMH levels and seem to experience a more rapid decline in serum AMH levels than age matched counterparts, suggesting a harmful effect of endometrioma per se on ovarian reserve.
