Two experiments were conducted to investigate the usefulness of feeding layers diets based on high protein wheats. The test diets contained about 86 per cent of high protein wheat and were supplemented with various amino acids. A control diet contained wheat of normal protein content, soyabean and meat meal. In the first experiment lysine addition to the high protein wheat diet increased egg numbers ; and methionine supplementation, in addition to lysine, tended to further improve egg production. In the second experiment lysine addition again improved egg production, but, if inethionine was added as well, production fell. The varying response can be explained by different methionine contents of the two high protein wheats used.

Pullets were brought into production on a low-protein corn, soybean meal diet to which various nutrients including essential amino acids, choline, corn oil and feathermeal were supplemented. Production commenced between 18 and 20 wk of age and up to at least 60% production, hens fed the low protein diets (10% CP) produced at least as many eggs and as great an egg mass as these given a 17% protein corn, soybean meal control diet. Pullets fed the corn, soybean meal test diets, peaked at around 80% as compared to slightly over 90% for the control. Egg production immediately fell for birds fed the test diets to around 70% for most of the test treatments. Body weight remained constant or fell after peak production for birds fed the test diets as compared to a normal increase for birds on the control diet. Egg size increased for the test diets at a rate which was comparable to that of the control birds. In a second experiment, with older hens, supplementation of the 10% protein test diet with methionine, lysine, arginine and tryptophan, resulted in intakes of these amino acids which met NRC minimum requirement levels. However, egg mass output was reduced approximately 11% compared to the 17% protein control diet. While intakes of several essential amino acids fell below requirement levels, the degree that valine was calculated to be deficient in both experiments corresponded closely with the reduction in egg mass output of hens fed the test as compared to the control diet. Stunting children need food intake with higher protein and essential amino acids such as lysine and leucine than normal children. Red Beans (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.) and Green Beans (Phaseolus Radiatus L.) have protein content, respectively 22.07 ± 0.13% and 19.99 ± 0.07%, and are rich in essential amino acids lysine and leucine needed by a stunting child. The Development of food products with high protein concentrations (high protein food) such as isolates/protein concentrates is an important subject that must be done. This study aims to determine the technique of isolating red bean and green bean protein through extraction and deposition methods at isoelectric pH. The research method used is an experimental method with descriptive data analysis. Identification of isoelectric pH of red bean and green bean protein is done through electrophoretic mobility (cm2/Vs) testing on samples that have been conditioned at 3 different depositional pHs namely pH 3.00, 4.00, and 5.00. The results showed the isoelectric pH value of red bean and green bean protein, namely pH 4.56 and pH 4.81 respectively, where the pH had electrophoretic mobility values equal to zero. The process of isolating red bean and green bean protein produces protein powder with a protein content of 79.22 ± 0.06% and 80.69 ± 0.06%, respectively. Based on the weight yield, red bean and green bean protein concentrate powder had a yield of 14.88% and 16.75%, respectively.

This paper presents a study of the effect of the feed additive «Abiotonic» on the indicators of egg and meat productivity when applied to laying hens. It was found that with the additional introduction of this additive into the standard diet of poultry, the content of nonessential amino acids in their meat is 10% higher compared to the same parameters in the meat of chickens of the control group, the content of partially nonessential amino acids is by 8,5%, and of irreplaceable amino acids is by 6,7%. In addition, in the meat of laying hens, which used the feed additive «Abiotonic», the content of selenium (Se) is 29,4% higher than in the meat of birds of the control group, and iron (Fe) – by 20%. The average daily gain in live weight of the birds in the experimental group was 3,6 g more than in the control hens. Microbiological research made it possible to establish that poultry meat, regardless of the introduction of the feed additive «Abiotonik», meets the established requirements and is safe for human consumption. «Abiotonic», in addition, significantly improves the egg production of birds. It was found that the weight of eggs with the introduction of this feed additive in the diet in addition to the compound feed increased by an average of 1,2 g, and the egg production increased by 23 eggs in 7 days.

A series of experiments were conducted to evaluate fababeans as a source of supplemental protein for use in diets for laying hens. Experimental and commercial-type feeding trials were used to determine the influence of level of dietary addition of fababeans, methionine supplementation, heat treatment of fababeans and dehulling of fababeans on productive performance. When diets adequately supplemented with methionine were used, egg production rates of hens fed fababeans were similar to those of controls except for high dietary levels of fababeans (in excess of 25%) where a depression was indicated. Mortality rates were not influenced by addition of fababeans to the diet. Hens fed fababeans consistently laid eggs of a smaller size than those of controls and the extent of the egg size depression was related to the level of fababeans in the diet. The egg size depressing effect of fababeans was not related to dietary levels of protein or energy and was not influenced by heat treatment of fababeans or removal of hulls from fababeans. Fababeans can be used effectively as a protein source in diets for laying hens and the effect on egg size should be a factor given consideration when the choice to use fababeans is made.

Two production trials with piglets and one with slaughter pigs were carried out in order to investigate the effects of reducing the protein content in the diets followed by an addition of industrial amino acids on performance and health status. In the first piglet trial the crude protein content of the control diet was decreased from 20 to 18.3 % and in the second from 18.3 to 16.7 %. In the trial with growing pigs, the protein content of the control diet was decreased from 17.0 to 15.5 %. Industrial L-lysine, DL-methionine and L-threonine were added to the low protein diets to get the same levels of these amino acids as in the control diets. Piglet performance was similar on all treatments indicating equal availability of added and protein-bound amino acids. Health status of piglets on the low protein diets was considerably improved, indicating less predisposition to post weaning diarrhoea. This study was conducted to know the production performance of laying hen by using different graded level of linseed. At 56 weeks of age, a total of 160 laying hens were raised up to 63 weeks of age. All hens were fed a basal corn soyabean meal diet. The experiment was allowed 4 dietary treatments (T0, no addition of whole linseed in the basal diet; T1,  addition of 5% whole linseed; T2, addition of 10% whole linseed and T3, addition of 15% whole linseed) with 5 replications and per replication contains eight hens. Egg production, feed intake, egg weight of each treatment was recorded. Egg samples were collected and analyzed for egg quality. The results showed that egg production and egg mass (kg) exhibited for all dietary treatment groups were unaffected (P>0.05) by feeding linseed to the laying hens. Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) was found significant difference within the four dietary group (P<0.05). Egg quality aspects such as yolk weight, egg weight, HU and yolk index were not differed significantly (P>0.05) among treatments.  A trend for lower yolk weight was observed in birds fed 10% linseed, where as the highest yolk weight percentage was recorded in control diet. There was no statistical difference among the different diets for yolk index. The results of the present trial suggested that feeding linseed to the laying hens has no detrimental effects on egg production and egg quality. Total and soluble nitrogen, protein and non-protein -nitrogen was determined as well as the amino acid composition of the caryopses of ten rye varieties including three bred in Poland and cultivated on a commercial scale: 'Dańkowskie Złote', 'Dańkowskie Selekcyjne' and 'Borkowskie Tetra'. and seven foreign varieties characterized by a high total protein content (11.9-16.4% in dry weight). In the varieties examined the amount of protein nitrogen increased in the same degree as did the content of total nitrogen. The amino acids limiting the nutritive value of the protein in rye caryopses were mostly lysine and methionine, and in the varieties with high protein content tryptophan. The low-protein varieties had a relatively higher content of lysine, sulphur amino acids, tryptophan and other amino acids (as % of protein) than the high protein ones, but their absolute amino acid content (as % of dry weight) was lower.

Lohmann Brown hens (n = 420), at 28 weeks of age, were divided into five dietary treatments, and each treatment included six replicates of 14 laying hens. Dietary crude protein (14%) was presented as the control diet. Dietary L-Thr was added to the control diet for 12 weeks. Dietary Thr levels are 0.43%, 0.49%, 0.57%, 0.66%, and 0.74%, based on digestible base. From 28 to 40 weeks, hen-day egg production presented a quadratic trend to supplementing dietary Thr (R2 = 0.96, p = 0.02), and reached a maximum level at 0.58%. Serum uric acid demonstrated a quadratic trend (R2 = 0.62, p = 0.02) at 0.59%. Both serum total cholesterol and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl (HMG-CoA) reductase showed lower levels (p < 0.05) at 0.66% Thr. Serum CuZn-SOD elevated (p < 0.05) at 0.49%, 0.57%, and 0.66% Thr, as compared to the control group, and showed a quadratic trend (R2 = 0.87, p = 0.003) at 0.56%. Supplemental L-Thr decreased (p < 0.05) the expression of ileal HSP70 at 0.66% Thr. In summary, the optimal dietary Thr requirements to optimize egg production, serum uric acid, and serum CuZn-SOD were 0.58%, 0.59%, and 0.56%, respectively, by regression analysis.

An experiment compared egg production on a diet using a mixture of wheat, barley, and oats as the grain portion, with a diet in which the wheat and oats were replaced with barley. A comparison between sundried and dehydrated lucerne meal was included. A second experiment compared the same formulations of barley and mixed grain diets as used in the first experiment, and a mixed grain diet of higher crude protein content. Replacing wheat and oats with barley in an otherwise unchanged diet did not significantly affect the number of eggs produced but did increase the average egg weight by 1.1 g in both experiments, significantly so in one experiment, but not in the other. Increasing the crude protein content of the mixed grain diet did not significantly affect either egg production or egg weight. Consumption of the barley diet was greater than the mixed grain diets. This increase in consumption was less than would have been expected on the basis of equal energy intakes, indicating that the metabolizable energy value of the barley used was greater than values previously published for barley. No differences were found in performance between sundried and dehydrated lucerne meal.

There is concern about egg cholesterol content. In this study, the effect of an ethanolic extract from Enterolobium cyclocarpum (EEEC) pods in laying hen diets on egg production and plasma lipid profile was investigated. EEEC was added in 0 mg/kg, 60 mg/kg, 120 mg/kg, 240 mg/kg, and 480 mg/kg to the diets. Feed intake was lower in laying hens fed diets with 480 mg/kg of EEEC (p < 0.05). Albumen was less heavy and wide in laying hens fed diets with EEEC, in comparison to those in the control diet (p < 0.05). No significant effect of EEEC on cholesterol in plasma was observed (p < 0.08); however, a significant increase of high-density lipids (HDL) in proportion of total cholesterol was observed in hens supplemented with 120 mg/kg of EEEC (p < 0.05). In conclusion, EEEC reduced albumen weight and wide in eggs, and 120 mg/kg of EEEC in the diet increased HDL in proportion to total cholesterol in blood.
