AbstractDutch manner of motion verbs play a prominent role in the literature on unaccusativity. As these verbs can take both hebben ‘have’ and zijn ‘be’ as their perfective auxiliaries, they are considered to show both unergative and unaccusative behavior. The general consensus is that these verbs normally take hebben, yet occur with zijn if they are ‘telicized’ by an endpoint, and that the auxiliaries are diagnostics for the syntactic status of prepositional phrases (PPs). The paper presents attested data that reveal that this generalization is untenable: there are examples that take the opposite auxiliary from what the generalization predicts. To account for the full set of data, the paper takes a cognitive-grammar perspective, arguing that auxiliary choice, telicity and syntactic status of PPs are independent issues requiring their own explanations. Auxiliary choice is analyzed in terms of alternate construals of a motion event: with hebben as a type of act and with zijn as a change of location. In this manner, the paper adds to a growing body of literature that questions the usefulness of the coarse unergative–unaccusative distinction, advocating a ‘local analysis’ instead.

The aims of this study are: (1) to describe the morphological formation of Asmaul Husna; (2) describe the Asmaul Husna slot; (3) describe the Asmaul Husna pattern model; (4) describe the case and the syntactic function of Asmaul Husna; (5) describe the grammatical markers on Asmaul Husna in the Qur'an. This research is an analysis of Asmaul Husna's morphosyntactic in the Qur'an. This research is a qualitative research with library research design. The data of this research are presented with the consideration sample technique. In this study, from 156 data of Asmaul Husna found 3 data ism jamid, and 153 data ism musytaq. There are 91 mubalaghah data slots, 21 ism fa'il data slots, 6 mashdar data slots, and 35 musyabbahah sifah data slots. There are 97 data on raf' cases, 31 data on nashb cases and 33 data on jar cases. There are 2 data as mubtada', 51 data for khabar case, 3 data for fa'il case, 28 data for khabar inna, 10 data for na't (marfu'), and 3 data for ma'thuf (marfu'), 21 data for khabar kana, 2 data as maf'ul bih, 1 data as munada, 6 data as tamyiz, and 1 data as na't (manshub), 8 data as majrur, 5 data as mudhaf ilaih, and 18 data as na't ( majrur), and 2 data as badal (majrur). There were 91 data marked with dhammah dhahirah, and 1 data marked with dhammah muqaddara, 31 data marked with fathah dhahirah, and 33 data marked with kasrah dhahirah.   Asmaul Husna merupakan kumpulan 99 nama-nama Allah yang menunjukan keindahan dan keperkasaan Allah. Penelitian ini merupakan analisis morfosintaksis Asmaul Husna di dalam al-Qur’an menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan desain studi pustaka (library research). Data penelitian ini disajikan dengan teknik sampel pertimbangan. Dalam penelitian ini, dari 156 data Asmaul Husna  ditemukan 3 data ism  jamid, dan 153 data ism musytaq. Tedapat 91 data slot mubalaghah, 21 data slot ism  fa’il, 6 data slot mashdar, dan 35 data slot sifah musyabbahah. Terdapat 2 data dengan model pola فَعَل, 5 data dengan فَعْل, 4 data dengan فَعِل, 79 data dengan فَعِيْل, 9 data dengan فَعْلَان,  15 data dengan فَعُوْل, 2 data dengan فُعُّوْل, 1 data dengan فَعَال, 17 data dengan فَاعِل, 15 data dengan فَعَّال, 1 data dengan مُفعِل, 1 data dengan مُفَيْعِل, 1 data dengan مُفَعِّل, 1 data dengan مُفْتَعِل 1 data dengan  مُتَفَعِّل, dan 1 data dengan مُتَفَاعِل. Terdapat 97 data raf’, 31 data nashb dan 33  data jar. Terdapat 2 data sebagai mubtada’, 51 data khabar, 3 data fa’il, 28 data sebagai khabar inna, 10 data na’t (marfu’),dan 3 data ma’thuf (marfu’), 21 data khabar kana, 2 data maf’ul bih, 1 data munada, 6 data tamyiz, dan 1 data na’t (manshub), 8 data majrur, 5 data mudhaf ilaih, dan 18 data na’t (majrur), dan 2 data badal (majrur). Ditemukan 91 data berpenanda dhammah dhahirah, dan 1 data berpenanda dhammah muqaddarah, 31 data  berpenanda fathah dhahirah, dan 33 data berpenanda kasrah dhahirah.

Abstrak Bahasa Arab merupakan bahasa yang wajib dipelajari oleh seluruh mahasiswa di semua Fakultas di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Bahkan Rektor telah menerbitkan SK No. Un.01/R/HK.005/233/2012 yang menetapkan standar nilai bahasa Arab dan bahasa Inggris yang harus dicapai mahasiswa sebagai syarat kelulusan.Namun kemampuan bahasa Arab mahasiswa pada umumnya masih jauh dari taraf penguasaan yang diharapkan. Buktinya selama beberapa tahun terakhir ini mereka 90% mahasiswa mencapai skor TOAFL di bawah standar yang ditentukan. Hal ini kemungkinan besar disebabkan oleh banyaknya mahasiswa baru yang tidak memiliki pengetahuan dasar bahasa Arab. Agar mahasiswa yang tidak memiliki pengetahuan dasar bahasa Arab dapat mengikuti perkuliahan bahasa Arab, maka perlu diberikan materi khusus berupa bentuk ṣarf dan struktur nahwu yang diambil dari buku Al-Arabiyyah li Ṭullab al-Jāmi’ah yang akan mereka gunakan nanti dalam perkuliahan. Dengan demikian kebutuhan yang sangat mendesak adalah penyiapan materi khusus yang diberikan kepada mahasiswa sebelum mengambil mata kuliah bahasa Arab. Sebagai langkah awal penyusunan materi khusus yang dimaksud maka penelitian ini perlu dilaksanakan. Data tentang struktur kalimat dalam penelitian ini diambil dari teks bahan qirā’ah dalam buku Al-‘Arabiyyah li Ṭullab al-Jāmi’ah, mengingat buku tersebut merupakan buku yang menjadi pegangan bagi mahasiswa di perguruan tinggi Islam. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa tidak semua bentuk kata dan fungsi sintaksis yang biasa dipelajari dalam kitab-kitab klasik digunakan dalam materi qira’ah buku Al-‘Arabiyyah li Ṭullab al-Jāmi’ah. Sehingga perlu ada penyusunan silabus yang memperhatikan keberadaan bentuk dan fungsi kata dalam buku ini. Selanjutnya perlu disusun buku bagi mahasiswa dalam rangka mengenalkan bentuk dan fungsi kata sebagai bahan pengantar sebelum mempelajari bahasa Arab dalam perkuliahan regular.---Abstract Arabic is one of the language subjects that must be learned by all students at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Even the Rector has established Decree No. Un.01/R/HK.005/233/2012 which sets the standard of value in Arabic and English to be achieved by each student as an essential condition of graduation. But the competence of Arabic students are generally still far from the level of mastery to be achieved. over the last few years 90% of the students obtained a score TOAFL below specified standards. It can be caused by a number of new students who do not have basic knowledge of Arabic. So that students who do not have basic knowledge of Arabic can take the classes in Arabic well, it should be given special materials such as morphological and syntactic structures taken from the book Al-Arabiyyah li Ṭullab al-Jami'ah they will use later in the lecture. Thus an urgent need is the preparation of a special material that is given to students prior to taking courses in Arabic. As the first step of the preparation,  research needs to be done. Data based on the structure of the sentence in this study were taken from the reading text  material in the book Al-'Arabiyyah li Ṭullab al-Jami'ah, consider that the book became a handbook for students at Islamic university. Based on the analysis we concluded that not all morphological and syntactic function commonly studied in classical texts used in the reading text material book Al-'Arabiyyah li Ṭullab al-Jami'ah. So there needs syllabus that takes into account the existence of the form and function of words in this book. Further necessary to develop books for students in order to introduce the form and function of words as introductory material before studying Arabic in regular lectures.DOI: 10.15408/al-turas.v23i1.4805

Idiosyncrasies and peculiarities distinguishing new Englishes from the established ones are often identified and measured by examining the extent to which structural choices and patterns vary across the board. The competition between relativisers wh- and that in the construction of relative clause, which itself is a structurally complex-versus-simple construction site, allows for showing the extent to which choice of a relativiser relates to the construction of a complex or simple relative clause, given different factors. On the other hand, such investigation can also shed some light on the extent to which structural com- plexity characterises new varieties of English. Relying on 628 relative clauses drawn from written academic corpus, the study shows that WH-relativiser is preferred to THAT-relativiser by the Nigerian speakers, and vice versa by the American speakers. It is also found that WH-relative clause is more likely to be complex-structured while THAT-relative clause is more likely to be simple-structured. Among eight factors tested for independent effects, the factors representing relativiser posterior syntactic form, syntactic function, and syntactic positioning of the relative clause appeared to be strong predictors of where we might (not) find a certain relativiser and whether a complex or simple relative clause will emerge.

The article outlines the way the English system of punctuation marks is presented in contemporary ELT research and practice. The following types of sources are considered and analyzed in the article: grammar books for teaching English as the first, second or foreign language; reference books and web-sites aimed at preparing students for IELTS and TOEFL; books belonging to the genre known as popular science; purely scientific works on punctuation in general and the semicolon in particular. The main goals of the research are to reveal the central tendencies in teaching English punctuation on the example of the so-called weighty stops of vertical segmentation, namely the semicolon, and to see whether they manage to present a certain norm of using the stop. Thus, the present paper focuses on the semicolon one of the most controversial stops in the system, which has been proved to function both at the syntactic and stylistic levels. It is shown that a formal / grammatical approach is the most common way to treat punctuation in ELT literature; however, it does not take into account stylistic and prosodic peculiarities of the stops and thus fails to show the whole spectrum of its usage, as well as its phonetic and stylistic potential. Consequently, such an approach should not be applied to English one of the languages exhibiting a semantic-stylistic type of punctuation. It is proposed that the approach to be used in teaching English punctuation most effectively is pragmalinguistics, since it exploits a wide range of methods and means of analyzing a text, and also considers and highlights all the aspects of using the stops (their syntactic function, stylistic capacities and prosodic characteristics). Moreover, the article poses the question that the current methodology of the approach has to be further developed.

The purpose of the article is to establish the possibilities of functioning of the terminological Internet resource “The Fundamental Dictionary of the Environment DiCoEnviro”, to examine its methods to carry out a comparative analysis with electronic resources FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet to open a new perspective of the perception of the meaning of words in common and specialized languages in the framework of modern theoretical lexicographic paradigm.Methods. The complex linguo-pragmatic descriptive method and the techniques of observation, comparison, generalization and interpretation helped to characterize the work of the terminological Internet resource DiCoEnviro and electronic resources FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet, to identify phenomena in them; the extraction of terminological units for the formation of the results materials is made by the method of continuous sampling.Results. The article highlights the work of the terminological Internet resource DiCoEnviro in comparison with electronic resources FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet, which offer mainly information about the common language. It is found that in DiCoEnviro the participant is defined by the type, role, is expressed by syntactic group, each context contains a description of syntactic function. Annotation of contexts in DiCoEnviro is performed using the Oxigen XML editor, while users view annotations in HTML format when visiting the DiCoEnviro website.Conclusions. The article presents the work of scientists in the field of lexicography, namely electronic dictionaries; it shows a study of the terminological Internet resource DiCoEnviro and the principles of annotation of terms in it. The purpose of the DiCoEnviro project is traced; previous works of FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet are presented, which offer mainly information about common language, while DiCoEnviro includes vocabulary of specialized environmental language; examples of annotations from these projects are given and analyzed. The method used in DiCoEnviro and based on explanatory and combinatorial lexicology and partly on the theory of semantic frames is considered in details.Key words: annotation, frames, terms, explanatory and combinatorial lexicology, specialized language. Мета статті – встановити можливості функціонування термінологічного інтернет-ресурсу «Фундаментальний слов-ник навколишнього середовища DiCoEnviro», розглянути його методи для здійснення порівняльного аналізу з електронни-ми ресурсами FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet, щоб відкрити нову перспективу сприйняття значення слова у загальновживаній та спеціалізованій мовах у рамках сучасної теоретичної лексикографічної парадигми.Методи. Комплексний лінгвопрагматичний описовий метод і прийоми спостереження, порівняння, узагальнення та інтер-претації допомогли охарактеризувати роботу термінологічного інтернет-ресурсу DiCoEnviro і електронних ресурсів FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet, виявити явища в них; виокремлення термінологічних одиниць для формування матеріалів результатів зро-блено методом суцільної вибірки.Результати. У статті висвітлено роботу термінологічного інтернет-ресурсу DiCoEnviro порівняно з електронними ресур-сами FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet, які пропонують в основному інформацію про загальновживану мову. З’ясовано, що в DiCoEnviro учасник визначається своїм типом, роллю, виражається синтаксичною групою, кожен контекст містить опис синтаксичної функції. Анотування контекстів у DiCoEnviro виконується за допомогою редактора XML Oxigen, тоді як корис-тувачі, коли відвідують вебсайт DiCoEnviro, дивляться анотування у форматі HTML.Висновки. У статті презентовано роботи науковців у галузі лексикографії, а саме електронних словників; показано дослі-дження термінологічного інтернет-ресурсу DiCoEnviro і принципів анотування термінів у ньому. Простежено мету проєк-ту DiCoEnviro; представлені попередні роботи FrameNet, Propbank, VerbNet, які пропонують в основному інформацію про загальновживану мову, тоді як DiCoEnviro включає у себе лексику спеціалізованої мови навколишнього середовища; наведено і проаналізовано приклади анотування з цих проєктів. Докладно розглянуто методику, яка застосовується в DiCoEnviro і ґрун-тується на пояснювальній і комбінаторній лексикології і частково на теорії семантичних фреймів.Ключові слова: анотування, фрейми, терміни, пояснювальна і комбінаторна лексикологія, спеціалізована мова

This paper deals with adnominal possessive constructions in Moksha, Erzya, Meadow Mari, Hill Mari, Izhma Komi and Udmurt. The two main constructions that encode possessive relations in all the languages of the sample are the same: Dependentmarking and Double-marking. Izhma Komi also uses Head-marking and Juxtaposition. However, a more fine-grained analysis helps to find out many differences between the languages of the sample. Firstly, restrictions on the use of the genitive case and possessive markers can be slightly different in these languages. Secondly, there are factors that influence marking of NP elements (both the Head and the Dependent) in different ways. These factors are semantic relations, animacy hierarchy and syntactic function of an NP.Аннотация. Полина Плешак: Посессивные конструкции в мордовских, марийских и пермских языках. В данной статье обсуждаются результаты исследования приименных посессивных конструкций в мокшанском, эрзянском, луговом марийском, горномарийском, ижемском коми и удмуртском. Две основные стратегии, кодирующие посессивные отношения во всех рассматриваемых языках, – зависимостное маркирование и двойное маркирование, а также дополнительно вершинное маркирование и конструкция с соположением в ижемском коми. Однако более детальный анализ позволяет выявить большое количество различий между языками выборки. Во-первых, как генитив, так и посессивные показатели имеют разные области применения в разных языках. Во-вторых, существуют факторы, по-разному влияющие на маркирование членов ИГ (как вершины, так и зависимого). Artikkel käsitleb adnominaalseid possessiivkonstruktsioone mokša, ersa, niidumari, mäemari, ižmakomi ja udmurdi keeltes. Kaks põhikonstruktsiooni, mis possessiivseid suhteid väljendavad, on kõikides käsitletud keeltes samad: laiendi markeerimine ja topeltmarkeering. Ižmakomi keeles kasutatakse ka põhja markeerimist ja jukstapositsiooni. Peenekoelisem analüüs aitab aga käsitletavate keelte vahel leida rohkelt erinevusi. Esiteks võivad nendes keeltes mõneti erineda genitiivi ja possessiivmarkerite kooskasutuse piirangud. Teiseks on faktoreid, mille mõju tõttu markeeritakse NP elemente erinevalt (seda nii põhisõna kui ka laiendi puhul). Phraseological units perform the same syntactic function as words. Most English phraseological units formed by body parts are used in the form of contracts. Only a small part of the grammatically formed pary is used in sentences. Among phraseological units, one can also find those that are used in negative form. This chapter discusses the defective paradigms of the reflexive nouns and participles in the Latvian language. In Latvian, the reflexiveness of the nouns and the verbs functions as a complex derivational and inflectional system. In this language, the reflexive verbs, participles, and nouns are formed through the fusion of verbal or noun forms with enclitic accusative form of the reflexive pronoun. Reflexive verbs have full person, tense and mood paradigms whilst reflexive nouns and participles have defective paradigms in Latvian. Although the rationale behind defectiveness of the paradigms of the reflexive nouns and participles are difficult to pinpoint, there are several types of compensation for the defectiveness in the Modern Latvian. These include the use of non-standard forms, the use of corresponding non-reflexive participle and noun forms, and the use of other forms of paradigms in lieu of the missing ones. These alternative paradigms depend however on the syntactic function of the word-form. Some topics discussed herein include: derivation and semantics of reflexive nouns; paradigmatic system of reflexive nouns and participles; and functioning of the paradigms of reflexive nouns and participles.
