This chapter evaluates “quantitative cladistics” in detail, including the issues of fit, parsimony algorithms, and character weighting. Although systematists have long associated characters with taxa, the relationship between character data and “phylogeny” has not always been obvious. The ideas of Willi Hennig clarified this relationship, and the formalization of these concepts in a quantitative method, via the parsimony criterion, allowed for computer implementation of phylogenetic inference and the feasible solution of previously intractable problems. It is this computational capability that took the study of taxonomic relationships from an almost purely qualitative and speculative enterprise to one dominated by the use of computer software and “objective” methodologies. The chapter then discusses the use, advantages, and disadvantages of maximum likelihood and Bayesian techniques as alternative approaches to the application of parsimony.

Application of regression statistic to analyse geography data is getting familiar, as the reason that geography object is really wide, kwantitative approach of geography and availibilty computer software of regression analysis which is getting complete and refresentative. The way of making decision and prediction constitutes the superiority of regression analysis and constitutes the issue which is often met by geographer in the study of geography object. It not only phenomena of human geography, but phisycal geography phenomena is also able to be approtached by regression analysis. For user the attentions that ought to be noticed are 1) regression statistic ought to be appraised as a fool and not as a brain, so that researcher is the main important operator; 2) mastery of geography subject matter constitutes an essential basis; 3) statistic is able to work if there is a detum which is able to fulfill the term of requirements and preceded by a logic causal relation; 4) close attention of reasearcher is highly required; 5) when must, researcher use the  statistic and the relationship between data type and statistical technique.

Kata kunci: Pohon Bakau, Luasan Daun, Hutan Mangrove Desa Mojo ABSTRACT Mangrove (Rhizopora mucronata) is one of the mangrove species found in the rehabilitation area of mangrove forest of Mojo Village, Pemalang Regency. This type of mangrove is grown because the seeds are easy to obtain and sowing so as to dominate in the area. To know the factors related to the growth of mangroves, so has been conducted research on the relationship between soil quality with the extent of mangrove leaves. The number of samples used is 405 leaf blades selected under the same conditions and derived from 9 research stations. In the same station, soil sampling is done up to 50 cm depth, to analyze organic material content and physical-chemical properties. The leaf samples were then processed in an artificial mini studio photo to be photographed using a high resolution digital camera within 30 cm and calculated the extent of Corel Draw X7 computer software. Analysis of data using PCA and the results show, that of all variables measured from the soil, then only the factor of organic material alone has a high positive correlation with the leaf area of R. mucronata. Keywords: Mangrove, Leaf Extents, Mojo Village’s Mangrove Forest

A survey of Canadian universities and consulting engineering firms was conducted to ascertain the present status of slope stability software usage in Canada. The results indicate that most universities have access to at least one slope stability computer program. However, there is limited usage of computer programs as a teaching tool at the undergraduate or graduate level. In general, the programs are poorly documented and not distributed. Consulting engineering firms indicate that more education on the relationship between the various methods of slices, on available software and its application to practical problems would be beneficial. The most commonly used procedures are the simplified Bishop method for circular failure surfaces and the Morgenstern–Price method for noncircular failure surfaces.Several well-documented slope stability computer programs are available to the geotechnical engineer at the cost of reproduction. The source for obtaining the programs is listed in the paper. Computer programs are available for all the commonly used methods of slices and the features of each program are also summarized in the paper.

The idea of after-sales services has been adopted globally to provide the consumers after the product or services rendered. The study explored the impact of after-sales services on customers retention of mobile telecommunication in Nigeria. Survey research was adopted, and the aim of using this design is premised on the fact that the study relied on obtaining information from the field using a questionnaire. The population consist of all the subscribers of MTN, Globacom, Airtel and 9mobile. Four hundred seventy-two (472) subscribers of mobile networks were proportionally drawn from the NCC website. Subsequently, a simple random sampling technique was used to select the respondents from each of the mobile networks. Data collected were analysed using an application of simple percentage method in computer software packages (SPSS), and the regression analysis adopted by the testing of a reported hypothesis. The regression of [t-statistics] value of .01 and [2.63] demonstrates that the relationship between after-sale service and retention of customers is essential because the alpha level of 0.05 is higher than the p-value. Hence, the assumption is that growth in after-sales activities is a significant contributor to customer retention. Management should pay attention to the employee position to the quality of after-sales service, which results in future procurement and further recommendations.
