Abstract We analyzed the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) test results reported in the College of American Pathologists' (CAP) surveys to determine the relationship between the source of CEA used to manufacture the survey specimens and the discrepancies among analytical methods. With the 1983 survey specimens, which were prepared from metastatic colon carcinoma, laboratories using Roche RIA with Clinetics columns reported results that were only one-half the values reported by laboratories using the Abbott polyclonal enzyme immunoassay. With the 1984 specimens, prepared from a different metastatic colon carcinoma, and the 1985 specimens, prepared from a tissue-culture source of CEA, the Roche results were about one-sixth as large as the Abbott results. These differences are larger than the reported assay differences for patients' specimens. In addition, twofold proportional differences were found when survey and control specimens were tested with different lots of Abbott polyclonal reagent, whereas only random differences were found with 102 patients' specimens. Evidently, assay systems perform differently with proficiency-testing and control specimens than with patients' specimens.

Abstract The heterogeneity of the legal basis in the 9 member states of the European Communities (EC) regarding the tolerance of drug residues in edible animal products precluded, until now, the establishment of common principles governing the relationship between analytical requirements and the approval of animal drugs and feed additives. While feed additives are regulated on the EC level (Directive on Additives in Feedingstuffs of 1970), no binding and comprehensive measures are currently in force regarding animal drugs. A draft proposal, presently under review by the member states, covers the regulatory aspects of approval, use, and control of veterinary medicinal substances. Furthermore, it describes in detail the analytical, pharmacological, toxicological, and clinical requirements and standards a new drug must meet before application for approval within the EC can be considered. According to this document, the first of its kind in the EC, sufficiently sensitive analytical methods must be submitted to assure that, under conditions prevailing in a routine laboratory, drug residue levels which are not considered safe will be detected. A brief outline of current measures and draft proposals of future regulations is given from the viewpoint of analytical methods for residues of animal drugs and feed additives.

Casualties due to Covid-19 are increasing every day. The disease attacks the respiratory tract and transmitted through droplets when the sufferer speaks, coughs or sneezes. In some people do not cause symptoms, but in some patients there are also those that cause symptoms from mild to severe. Wearing a mask is one of the efforts made to prevent and protect from contaminated viruses. Objective: to assess the relationship of knowledge and the level of compliance with the use of masks during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Research methods. Mused cross sectional method, sampled 32 respondents (consisting of 16 maternity room midwives and 16 final-level students). The data used is primary data collected using research instruments in the form of questionnaires distributed through google form. Analisys using Chi Square with tools of SPSS application. Result.  In terms of knowledge obtained results in midwives good knowledge as many as 13 people (81,3%) and less knowledge of 3 people (18,8%). In good knowledge students as many as 10 people (62,5%) and less knowledge of 6 people (37,5%) P value = 0,432 and OR 0,385. From the level of compliance, midwives who do not comply with the use of masks as many as 5 people (31,3%) and who obeyed as many as 11 people (68,8%). Midwives students all are disobedient to the use of masks.  Statistical test results obtained the value p = 0,001 OR = 0,313. Conclusion. The use of masks is part of a comprehensive series of measures to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19 disease. High knowledge is not necessarily obedient to the use of masks, it is necessary awareness of each individual to use the mask according to the situation and conditions.

This paper is a contribution to the growing literature on the role of projective identification in understanding couples' dynamics. Projective identification as a defence is well suited to couples, as intimate partners provide an ideal location to deposit unwanted parts of the self. This paper illustrates how projective identification functions differently depending on the psychological health of the couple. It elucidates how healthier couples use projective identification more as a form of communication, whereas disturbed couples are inclined to employ it to invade and control the other, as captured by Meltzer's concept of "intrusive identification". These different uses of projective identification affect couples' capacities to provide what Bion called "containment". In disturbed couples, partners serve as what Meltzer termed "claustrums" whereby projections are not contained, but imprisoned or entombed in the other. Applying the concept of claustrum helps illuminate common feelings these couples express, such as feeling suffocated, stifled, trapped, held hostage, or feeling as if the relationship is killing them. Finally, this paper presents treatment challenges in working with more disturbed couples.

Regional Regulation (Perda) which regulates public issues such as prostitution, alcoholic beverages, gambling, and the relationship between men and women turns out to be identified as a Regional Regulation with nuances of Islamic law. in Banyumas Regency there is a Regional Regulation which if used by the identification of Arfiansyah above, it can be referred to as a Regional Regulation with nuances of Islamic law. The regulation is: Banyumas District Regulation Number 15 of 2014 concerning Control, Supervision and Control of Circulation of Alcoholic Beverages and Regional Regulations of Banyumas Regency Number 16 of 2015 concerning Community Disease Management. This research has two formulations of the first problem related to the results of the content of the analysis on the Perda that are nuanced by Islamic law in Banyumas Regency. Both of the results of the analysis content on the Regional Regulations that are nuanced by Islamic law in Banyumas Regency are not contrary to Law-Invitation Number 12 of 2011? This research is a qualitative-descriptive study. The research method used is normative juridical. The main source of data is the Banyumas District Regulation Number 15 of 2014 concerning Control, Supervision and Control of Circulation of Alcoholic Beverages and Regional Regulations of Banyumas Regency Number 16 of 2015 concerning Community Disease Management. Interviews were also conducted with resource persons. Furthermore, the results of the analysis were carried out. Regional Regulation No. 15 of 2014 is actually a Regional Regulation that has a broad purpose of public interest, for the nation and state. So that the claim that Perda No 15 of 2014 as a Regional Regulation with nuances of Islamic law is not true. Regional Regulation No. 16 of 2015 is actually a Regional Regulation that has a broad purpose of public interest, for the nation and state. So that the claim that Perda No 16 of 2015 as a Regional Regulation with nuances of Islamic law is not true. Both of these Perda (Perda No 15 of 2014 and Perda No. 16 of 2015) are not in conflict with Law No. 12 of 2011 concerning the Establishment of Legislation. Both in terms of content, principles, goals, arrangements, administrative sanctions and criminal sanctions. Formally and procedurally the two Perda are in accordance with Law Number 12 of 2011

This study was designed to explore the relationship between sunlight exposure and the mechanical properties of paragliding fabrics which have different colors, densities, yarn counts, and coating materials. This study exposed 5 different colors of paragliding fabrics (red, turquoise, dark blue, orange, and white) to intense sunlight for 150 hours during the summer from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for 5 days a week for 5 weeks. Before and after the UV radiation aging process, the air permeability, tensile strength, tear strength, and bursting strength tests were performed. Test results were also evaluated using statistical methods. According to the results, the fading of the turquoise fabric was found to be the highest among the studied fabrics. It was determined that there is a significant decrease in the mechanical properties of the fabrics after sunlight exposure. After aging, the fabrics become considerably weaker in the case of mechanical properties due to the degradation in both the dyestuff and macromolecular structure of the fiber

Musty odor has occurred annually in Lake Biwa since 1969. Osaka municipal waterworks, which is located downstream of Lake Biwa, has made many efforts to treat musty-odor compounds produced in Lake Biwa from spring through autumn. With the development of analytical methods for the determination of musty-odor compounds, we have been able to confirm that planktonic blue-green algae are the major causes of the musty-odor occurrences. The relationship between the growth of blue-green algae and the water quality was not so apparent. However, through our data analysis focusing on the relationship between musty-odor occurrences due to Phormidium tenue or Oscillatoria tenuis and some nutrients in Lake Biwa, we found that the concentration of nitrate in water may be an important parameter for the estimation of growth of the algae and the musty-odor behavior.

Efforts to provide water to developing communities in South Africa have resulted in various types of water supplies being used. This study examined the relationship between the type of water supply and the quality of water used. Source (communal taps, private outdoor and indoor taps) and point-of-use water samples were examined for heterotrophic plate counts (HPC), total and faecal coliforms, E. coli, and coliphages. Ten percent of samples were also analysed for enteric viruses, Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Approximately 320 households were included in a case-control study. In addition, a cross-sectional study was conducted. Both studies examined the relationship between different types of water facilities and diarrhoea among pre-school children. The source water was of good microbial quality, but water quality was found to have deteriorated significantly after handling and storage in both case and control households, exceeding drinking water quality guideline values by 1-6 orders of magnitude. Coliphage counts were low for all water samples tested. Enteric viruses and Cryptosporidium oocysts were not detected. Giardia cysts were detected on one occasion in case and control in-house samples. Comparisons of whether in-house water, after handling and storage, complied with water quality guideline values demonstrated households using communal taps to have significantly poorer quality than households using private outdoor or indoor taps for HPC and E. coli (χ2 = 14.9, P = 0.001; χ2 = 6.6, P = 0.04 respectively). A similar trend (although not statistically significant) was observed for the other microbial indicators. The cross-sectional study demonstrated an apparent decrease in health risk associated with private outdoor taps in comparison to communal taps. This study suggests that a private outdoor tap is the minimum level of water supply in order to ensure the supply of safe water to developing communities.

Parent–adolescent communication is assumed to be an important factor affecting adolescent smoking behavior. However, the inner mechanism accounting for this association has still not been clarified in research. Our purpose in this study was to examine the relationships between parent–adolescent communication, adolescent smoking behavior, and depression, as well as gender differences in the relationship between depression and adolescent smoking behavior. Participants were 1,134 students at 6 junior high schools in China who completed the Parent-Adolescent Communication Scale, the Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale, and the Smoking Behavior Test. Results showed that parent-adolescent communication had a significant negative effect on adolescent smoking behavior and depression partially mediated the relationship between parent–adolescent communication and adolescent smoking behavior. In addition, gender moderated the relationship between depression and adolescent smoking behavior. Overall, these findings may help to promote better understanding of the relationship between parent–adolescent communication and adolescent smoking behavior.
