American University Discourse in the COVID-19 Pandemic: Multimodal AspectThis paper examines the transformations that have taken place in the multimodal representation of American university discourse during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first part of the paper investigates how the traditional realization of American university discourse has changed during the coronavirus pandemic. The second part of the paper focuses on the structure, content, role, and characteristic features of the multimodal texts which have been created by American universities as social institutions and have been published on their websites and social media accounts during the pandemic. Overall, it is assumed that during the pandemic the content of the analyzed texts has gradually changed from active propaganda for complete isolation at home to the cautious promotion of reconnecting in a secure surrounding on campus. Amerykański dyskurs uniwersytecki w pandemii COVID-19: aspekt multimodalnyAutorka analizuje przemiany, które zaszły w multimodalnej reprezentacji amerykańskiego dyskursu uniwersyteckiego podczas pandemii COVID-19. W pierwszej część artykułu bada, jak tradycyjna realizacja amerykańskiego dyskursu uniwersyteckiego zmieniła się podczas pandemii koronawirusa. W drugiej części artykułu skupia się na strukturze, treści, roli i charakterystycznych cechach tekstów multimodalnych, które zostały wytworzone przez amerykańskie uniwersytety jako instytucje społeczne i opublikowane na własnych stronach internetowych i kontach w mediach społecznościowych w czasie pandemii. Na podstawie analizowanych tekstów autorka zauważa, że ich treść zmieniała się stopniowo: od aktywnego propagowania całkowitej izolacji w domu do ostrożnego promowania ponownego łączenia się w bezpiecznym otoczeniu na terenie kampusu.

This article analyzes the results of an inquiry into Latin American university community members’ perceptions about regulatory processes and asymmetries of information, as influential factors in the governance of Latin American universities. It does so, by examining the national laws in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico. Previous studies in this continent have not considered these aspects and perspectives. Our research found significant differences between countries in terms of the Board of Directors’ capacity to act and the control mechanisms they can employ—which can be interpreted as national differences in the availability of their resources and their regulatory capacities. On the level of asymmetry of information, there are differences between countries, which depend on the position of the university members in their institutions. Thus, regulation and information are important factors when it comes to the governance of Latin American universities, and can explain its’ diversity.

The progress of the internet has become the best means to start a property business and it has been proven to be an effective and effective media of information from the internet to disseminate information that is fully accessible to anyone,anytime and anywhere. The great effect on the property business is caused through the internet because only by accessing it from smartphone device and computers at home or in the office of prospective buyers can see property add information.In today’s digital era property sales are mostly done on social media. Social media has many users. But social media has the disadvantages of having to pay if you want to advertise sales, consumers are only users of social media, sales posts quickly sink. In this research, a web-based property sales and leasing information system will be built to cover the shortage.

This article suggests that social media and public spaces in contemporary Indonesia play an essential role as a context for Islamic ideologisation by developing social mobilisation methods and transforming its ideology and culture. This socio-phenomenological study highlights the historical and social processes that underlie pious youth’s rise in an Indonesia’s contemporary urban space, for example, Bandung. The Hijrah [Migrating] Youth Community is an Islamic movement based on mosques and social media such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to migrate Hijrah to a better life. This study draws on the forms of articulation culture that emerged from the ideals of the revival and reinvention of Islam in the materiality of secular popular culture. The religious activities of Hijrah youth may reduce the disorders of young people, however since the young are rebellious, extreme religious activities may also arise from the community. Thus, different parties, especially parents, the Bandung City government and other social institutions must supervise the development of the youths’ life based on religious parties.Contribution: This study describes the operation of a youth religious movement, which tries to overcome the problem they usually face, namely juvenile delinquency. This study can develop research patterns that can analyse social phenomena and and apply them to policy consideration.

Bireuen is one of the  district which make a village for Acheness cakes home industry production. A various cakes in Acheness have a quality.  English for business is one the English subject must be taken by the students. English for Business is the activities of making, buying and buying selling in good service and then exchanging them for the money, the activities can be completed at home. Some problems were faced by the people; such as is not good in packaging, is not interesting cointainer, and do not how to promote their product by using social media to increase their income and also improve their quality of the products in Bireuen district, Acheh province. The method of this study is help the people by giving the suggestion and providing packing product in interesting cointainer. Giving the deeply understanding to the students and also the people in developing the mindset of enterpreneurship, the facillitate in equipment, marketing strategy, and marketing management. The results of this program are improve the students in comprehending the English for business, a good packaging and interesting cointaners, increasing the income for the people through promote in media social.

This chapter analyses privacy concerns of students and faculty resulting from the adoption of social media as teaching resources in higher education. In addition, the chapter focuses on privacy concerns that social media can cause to faculty when they are used for social networking. A trans-cultural study was carried out which involved three Spanish universities, a Colombian university, and an American university. A focus group was organized with PhD students to brainstorm the topic. Afterwards, 94 undergraduate students completed a survey and 18 lecturers participated in a written interview. Results indicate that social media are widely adopted in the university and are perceived as valuable resources for teaching. However, privacy concerns can easily emerge among students and faculty when these applications are used for this purpose. Concerns may appear when social media are used for social networking as well. The text also offers some guidelines to overcome them.

This brief supplement to my previous article (Tempo, No. 42) is intended to amplify the references to graduate courses available at Columbia University, in case anybody should take my last paragraph seriously. I mentioned there the possibility of combining teaching and study in an American university as being a practical way to gaining a research degree, under the guidance of some of the world's leading musical scholars. My reason for choosing Columbia University is simply that I know it best through having taught there. To assist my memory I have made use of the 1956–1957 Announcement of the Faculty of Philosophy, a book of 168 pages.

The most frequently asked questions regarding the phenomenon of American universities in the Arabian Gulf are: how good are they and how likely are they to endure? Already one of the first to enter the arena (George Mason University in 2005) was forced to close its Ras al-Khaimah campus in October of 2009 “after reaching an impasse with our partner over budget and control issues” (http://eagle.gmu.edu/newsrooms/740). GMU’s former students were directed to its American campus and seven other institutions within the UAE with whom GMU had teach-out agreements. One of these seven institutions has now closed as well: on 6 July 2010 Michigan State University (MSU) announced it was closing its undergraduate programs in Dubai. Its former students were offered a special package to attend the MSU campus in Lansing. As reported in the Lansing State Journal, the reason given was that the Dubai campus had “failed to attract sufficient numbers of students and was no longer financially sustainable.” It had just eighty-five students. However, MSU still had to pay between $1.3–1.7 million in “wind-down costs” (http://lansingstatejournal.com/article/20100706/NEWS01/307060031/MSU-to-close-programs-at-Dubai-campus).

At present, there is a big gap between education level of Chinese universities and that of North American universities, especially compare with US universities. The paper studied the key factors for the success of North American university education according the authors experience and analyzed the problems existing in Chinese university education. Taking the curriculum of Data Structure as an example, the paper developed a teaching reform scheme focusing on cultivating students abilities. Two years practical teaching results showed that the teaching reforms proposed in this paper can stimulated the students initiative to learn. The students were able to apply the theoretical knowledge to solve the practical problems. Accordingly teaching efficiency has been improved significantly.
