Abstract Background It is well known that recruitment is a challenging aspect of any study involving human subjects. This challenge is exacerbated when the population sought is reticent to participate in research as is the case with pregnant women and individuals with depression. This paper compares recruitment methods used for the Food, Feelings, and Family Study, an observational, longitudinal pilot study concerning how diet and bisphenol A exposure affect maternal mood and cognitive function during and after pregnancy. Methods Pregnant women were recruited to this study over a period of 15 months using traditional methods, social media including paid and unpaid posts, and emails broadcast to the university community. Contingency analysis using the Pearson’s Chi-square test was used to determine if recruitment method was associated with likelihood of participation. T-tests were used to analyze Facebook advertisement success. ANOVAs and Fisher exact tests were used to determine if recruitment method was related to continuous and categorical demographics, respectively. Results Social media resulted in the largest number of recruits, followed by traditional methods and broadcast email. Women recruited through social media were less likely to participate. In contrast, use of broadcast email resulted in a smaller pool of recruits but these recruits were more likely to be eligible for and complete the study. Most women recruited via social media were the result of unpaid posts to the study’s Facebook page. Paid posts lasting at least 4 days were the most successful. Recruitment method was not associated with participant demographics. Conclusions Social media has the potential to recruit a large pool of potential subjects; however, when studies require a large time investment such as the case here, women recruited through social media are less likely to participate and complete the study than women recruited through other means. OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Prenatal cannabinoid use is increasing and more studies are needed to describe the neurodevelopmental impact on the fetus. However, pregnant cannabinoid users are a “hidden population,” which makes identification of these individuals for research difficult. Our study will employ three methods of recruitment and evaluate the success of each method. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: We will recruit a total of 40 women in the third trimester of pregnancy who regularly use cannabinoid products thought to contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and/or cannabidiol (CBD) throughout their pregnancies, and 20 control pregnant women who do not use those products. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of prenatal cannabinoid use on the neurodevelopment of their offspring over the first year of life. We will employ three recruitment methods. First, targeted recruitment will occur in two university-based obstetrical clinics, where the obstetrician will present the study material and contact information. Second, we will utilize social media advertisements targeted to a specific demographic of Facebook users. Finally, we will employ the traditional method of distributing flyers in a non-targeted manner. We will track methods of recruitment success and gather information from the mothers on their preferences for recruitment approaches. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: Recruitment will start in January 2020 and continue for several months. We anticipate that the targeted method will yield the highest number of participants, and participants with the best fit for the inclusion criteria. However, it is possible that those women will be deterred by fear of having their drug use status revealed to their care providers, even though all research activity will occur independently from clinic visits and will not be transmitted to the electronic health record. The inclusion of a control group will also help foster “anonymity” for participants. The social media method has the potential for the greatest reach, but we expect many of these potential participants will fail to meet inclusion/exclusion criteria, as this is not as targeted as the first method. We anticipate a similar issue with the flyer-based approach. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: Optimizing recruitment of hidden and sensitive populations is crucial for clinical and translational research. Our goal is to identify strategies that can lead to best practices for engagement of those populations. Our conclusions could be applied in recruitment of sensitive populations for other clinical and translational research projects.

Several companies have reduced mass recovery efforts and in-person discussions for the Covid-19 pandemic password, one of which is PT Es Teh Indonesia Makmur. This study aims to: (1) Know the media for posting jobs and the application of the recruitment process through social media, including the stages and qualifications and competencies required at PT Es Teh Indonesia Makmur (2) Knowing the effectiveness of recruitment methods through social media to reduce the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic era and explains the comparison of the E-Recruitment method with the offline recruitment method at PT Es Teh Indonesia Makmur. The effectiveness of the Recruitment Method through social media by studying library data and observations shows that the electronic recruitment system for the workforce is suitable to be used to facilitate and improve human resource management in the Covid-19 Pandemic era. An increase in competent job applicants supports this, and PT Es Teh Indonesia Makmur is known to all circles to open job vacancies for more than 150 outlets in less than one year.

BACKGROUND Almost one-third of U.S. adults (29%) have a tattoo, and almost half (47%) of millennials reported having a tattoo. With more people getting tattoos, there is an increased risk for infectious diseases, skin infections, and allergic reactions. Tattoo artists can influence these health risks with their standards of practice, tattoo inks, and sterilization techniques. Although tattoos are becoming mainstream, it was unclear if tattoo artists would be a hard-to-reach population. Using social media sites represent a promising method for recruiting tattoo artists for online survey research studies. OBJECTIVE To evaluate various online platforms and traditional methods for recruiting tattoo artists into a descriptive, online survey study. METHODS From September 2015 to February 2016, tattoo artists who primarily tattooed in the United States were recruited using both online and traditional methods. Recruitment occurred via Facebook advertisements, Instagram, Twitter, website, online advertisement, emails, and postcards mailed to tattoo shops. RESULTS Recruitment methods resulted in 2332 respondents, of which 1845 answered question one, “Are you a tattoo artist?” Only 1571 were tattoo artists. Facebook advertisements recruited the most study participants. Facebook accounted for 1228 (78.17%) respondents who were tattoo artists. This number surpassed the next leading category of HTTP referer unknown, which had 268 (17.06%). The [removed for blinded manuscript] website recruited 45 (2.86%) tattoo artists while other online sources contributed to 28 (1.78%). Twitter and email had the lowest response rate with only 0.06% (n=1) each. CONCLUSIONS Social media sites enhanced survey participation, making it easier to reach tattoo artists nationwide. Of the recruitment methods used, Facebook advertisements were the most effective option, both for cost and recruitment rates. This study’s findings extend previous research studies that demonstrated the timeliness, ease, and effectiveness of using Facebook advertisements for recruitment.

Abstract Background Social media is a relatively new means to recruit research participants. Methods The Australian Breakthrough Cancer (ABC) Study is a prospective cohort study that recruited people aged 40-74 years over 2014-2018. A range of recruitment methods, including ‘traditional’ (e.g. print media, electoral roll, word of mouth) and newer methods (i.e. social media, particularly Facebook) were used. Here we describe and compare these methods of recruitment. Results 52,614 (66%) of ABC Study registrants indicated they had heard about the study via Facebook (36,672 clicked through from an advertisement for the study and 15,942 through users ‘sharing’ content). Overall, 51,586 (64%) participants (58% female, 42% male) completed baseline study components (online questionnaires and provided a DNA sample). 58% of Facebook registrants completed baseline components, compared with 75% of those recruited by traditional methods. The cost per acquisition using Facebook was $1.66 whereas the cost per acquisition using traditional methods (e.g. via the electoral roll) was up to $30. Facebook recruitment initially attracted more female registrants but targeted advertising dramatically increased the proportion of men. Conclusions Targeted advertising can be used to modify the types of respondents obtained via Facebook. Although the proportion completing baseline study components was lower than for traditional methods of recruitment, the cost per acquisition was cheaper making it feasible to recruit a larger number of participants to obtain the desired study size. Key messages Facebook is a viable and economical source of recruits to large prospective research studies.

Social and behavioral scientists increasingly use Facebook to recruit research participants. Given the everchanging social media landscape, it is important to consider the ethical principles of using such a strategy. The aims of this methodological article are to (a) examine Facebook recruitment in light of the ethical principles of the Belmont Report (respect for persons, beneficence, and justice), (b) describe ethical challenges that may be faced in Facebook recruitment, and (c) provide recommendations for researchers interested in adopting this recruitment method. Ethical challenges inherent in Facebook recruitment include selecting subjects fairly, privacy, and data security. Overall, Facebook is a beneficial resource for recruiting participants into research; however, researchers need to be aware of their responsibility in protecting human subjects.

ABSTRAK   Alexithymia ditandai dengan ketidakmampuan dalam mengenali dan mengekpresikan emosi serta pemikiran yang berorientasi eksternal sehingga mereka memiliki hubungan interpersonal yang buruk. Remaja dengan alexithymia cenderung menjadi kecanduan media sosial.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Alexithymia terhadap kecanduan media sosial pada remaja di Jakarta Selatan. Subjek penelitian adalah remaja yang berusia 13-19 tahun dan tinggal di Jakarta selatan. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode consecutive sampling dan snowball sampling dengan menyebar kuesioner menggunakan link googleform. Jumlah subjek penelitian sebanyak 207 orang (41 = laki-laki, 166 = perempuan). Skala yang digunakan adalah Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) dan Social Media Disorder (SMD). Analisa data menggunakan metode chi-square pada SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 85 orang mengalami alexithymia, 88 mengalami kecanduan dan 62 orang mengalami alexithymia dan kecanduan media sosial. p-value didapatkan 0,000. Hal ini berarti terdapat hubungan antara Alexithymia dengan Kecanduan Media Sosial pada remaja di Jakarta Selatan. Kata Kunci :Alexithymia, Kecanduan Media Sosial, Remaja     ABSTRACT   Alexithymia is characterized by an inability to recognize and express emotions and have external oriented thoughts so that they have poor interpersonal relationships. Teenagers with alexithymial tend to become addicted to social media. This study aims to determine the relationship between Alexithymia towards social media addiction in adolescents in South Jakarta. The research subjects were adolescents aged 13-19 years and lived in south Jakarta. Retrieval of the data was using consecutive sampling and snowball sampling method by distributing questionnaires using the googleform link. The number of research subjects was 207 people (41 = men, 166 = women). The scale was used is the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) and Social Media Disorder (SMD). Data analysis using the chi-square method in SPSS 25. The results showed that 85 people had alexithymia, 88 were addicted and 62 people had alexithymia and were addicted to social media. p-value obtained is 0,000. This means that there is a relationship between Alexithymia and Social Media Addiction in adolescents in South Jakarta. Keyword : Adolescents, Alexithymia, Social Media Addiction

BackgroundFetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) is an important global health problem in need of prevention. For FASD prevention it is important to understand why pregnant women engage or do not engage in drinking alcohol. It remains unknown which psychosocial determinants related to maternal alcohol consumption are most in need of prevention. The objective of this study was to identify these.MethodWe searched in PubMed, PsychINFO, PsychARTICLES, ERIC, CINAHL, EMBASE and MEDLINE databases up to May 2018 using an extensive query consisting of keywords related to pregnancy (e.g., maternal, prenatal), alcohol use (e.g., alcohol, drink) and determinants (e.g., attitude, norm). Studies were excluded when not published in English, were reviews, or involved non-human subjects. Substantial heterogeneity precluded aggregation or meta-analysis of the data. Instead, data were qualitatively inspected.ResultsA total of 23 studies including 150 identified items were eligible for data analysis. Studies covered over 15 psychosocial determinants (e.g., attitude, perceived social norm, risk perception). Studies differed in their operationalizations. As a majority of data was based on univariate analysis, little is known about the relationship with specific drinking behaviors. The majority of studies targeted perceived risk and motivation to comply with each social referents' approval or disapproval. A large proportion of studies focused on disadvantages and risks of maternal alcohol consumption. Results from these studies show that women do not continue to drink because the risks are unknown to them. Cautious interpretation is needed while the observed heterogeneity hindered firm conclusions. Conclusion We aimed to identify all relevant psychosocial determinants of maternal alcohol consumption behavior(s). The state of the literature precludes such conclusions. It remains unknown which determinants are most in need of intervention. It is recommended for future studies to (i) identify all possible psychosocial determinants of drinking during pregnancy using both quantitative and qualitative methods; (ii) include different target groups (e.g., women with unplanned pregnancies, pregnant women, women in childbearing age); (iii) identify key environmental agents; (iv) operationalize their measures based on theoretical models; (v) report specific variables such as the study method and association with behavior.

  ABSTRACT Maternal Mortality Rate is a barometer of mother health service in a country. At this time maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is still very high. Indonesia Demography Survey on 2007, maternal mortality rate is about 28 per 100.000 of live births. The direct cause of maternal mortality in Indonesia as well as in the other country is hemorraghe (25%), sepsis (15%), eklampsia (12%), abstructed labor (8%). World Health Organization (WHO), 35-37% of pregnant women in developing coutries get anemy. Causing factor’s of anemy on pregnant women is age of pregnant, parity, economi socio, job, education, and nutritional status. Purpose of this research is to know the associated factors with incidence of anemy on pregnant women at the Health Center Talang Ratu Palembang in 2014. This research use analytic survey method with “cross sectional” approach. Population in this research is all of preganant women in medical treatment at Talang Ratu Palembang in 2014. Sample taking in this research with non random samplingmethod and accidental sampling technic. Analysis with univariatly and bivariatlywith Chi Square Statistic test with significant level α 0,05. The result of this research show that from 35 respondent there is (48,6%) respondent with anemy, high–risk age (28,6%), high parity (60,0%) and low economi socio (37,1%). This result show that there is significant relationship between age with incidence of anemy on pregnant women at the health center Talang Ratu Palembang in 2014 with p value0,027, there is significant relationship between parity with incidence of anemy on pregnant women at the health center Talang Ratu Palemabang in 2014 with p value0,023, and there is significant relationship between economi socio with incidence of anemy on pregnant women at the health center Talang Ratu Palembang in 2014 with p value0,026. Of the result, the author hope that health service worker at Talang Ratu health center can improve health service to pregnant women and often giving information about anemy on pregnant and nutritional for pregnant women during pregnancy.     ABSTRAK Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI) merupakan barometer pelayanan kesehatan ibu di suatu negara. Pada saat ini angka kematian ibu di Indonesia masih sangat tinggi. Menurut Survey Demografi dan Kesehatan Indonesia (SDKI) tahun 2007, angka kematian kematian ibu adalah 28 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup. Penyebab langsung kematian ibu di Indonesia seperti halnya Negara lain adalah perdarahan (25%), sepsis (15%), eklampsi (12%), partus lama (8%). Menurut World Health Organization (WHO), 35-37% ibu hamil di negara berkembang dan 18% di negara  maju mengalami anemia. Faktor penyebab terjadinya anemia pada ibu hamil secara tidak langsung adalah umur ibu, paritas, sosial ekonomi, pekerjaan, pendidikan, jarak kehamilan, dan status gizi.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor - faktor apa saja yang berhubungan dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil di Puskesmas Talang Ratu Palembang Tahun 2014. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey analitikdengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh ibu hamil yang berobat di Puskesmas Talang Ratu Palembang Tahun 2014. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini dengan metode non random sampling dengan teknik Accidental sampling. Analisis dilakukan secara univariat dan bivariat. Dengan uji statistik chi square tingkat kemaknaan α 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 35 responden terdapat (48,6%) responden yang anemia, umur yang beresiko  tinggi (28,6%), paritas tinggi (60,0%), dan sosial ekonomi rendah (37,1%). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada hubungan yang bermakna antara umur dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil di Puskesmas Talang Ratu Palembang Tahun 2014 dengan  p value0,027,  ada hubungan bermakna antara paritas dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil di Puskesmas Talang Ratu Palembang Tahun 2014 dengan p value0,023 dan ada hubungan yang bermakna antara sosial ekonomi dengan kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil di Puskesmas Talang Ratu Palembang Tahun 2014 dengan p value0,026. Dari hasil penelitian ini penulis berharap petugas kesehatan di Puskesmas Talang Ratu Palembang meningkatkan pelayanan kesehatan pada ibu hamil dan lebih sering melaksanakan penyuluhan anemia pada kehamilan dan nutrisi yang baik bagi ibu hamil.

ABSTRACT According to the World Health Organization (WHO), maternal nutritional status at the time of growth and during pregnancy can affect fetal growth and development. Based on (IDHS) survey of 2007 AKI Indonesia at 228 per 100,000 live births, although this figure is still the highest in Asia. Social health center in Palembang in 2011 the number of pregnant women with good nutritional status of 67 men (97.1%). factors that influence the nutritional status of pregnant women is the temperature of the environment, economic status, habits and views of women to food, age, education, and health status. The purpose of this study is a known relationship education and economic status with nutritional status of pregnant women in the third trimester of Social Health Center Palembang in 2012. This study uses analytic survey with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all third trimester pregnant women who visit the health center Social Palembang in May 2012, with a sample of 30 respondents. Sampling in this study with non-random methods with techniques Accidental Sampling. Data analysis carried out univariate and bivariate statistics with Chi-Square test with significance level α = 0.05. The results showed than 30 respondents there (73.3%) of respondents that good nutritional status, higher education (76.7%), and high economic status (70.0%). The results of this study showed no significant association education and economic status with nutritional status of pregnant women in the third trimester of Social Health Center Palembang in 2012. From the results of this study, researchers hope to improve the health care workers, especially health services in Antenatal Care services pay more attention to maternal risk of poor nutritional status.   ABSTRAK Menurut World Health Organization (WHO), status gizi ibu hamil pada waktu pertumbuhan dan selama hamil dapat mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan janin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah diketahuinya hubungan pendidikan dan status ekonomi dengan status gizi ibu hamil trimester III di Puskesmas Sosial Palembang tahun 2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah semua ibu hamil trimester III yang berkunjung di Puskesmas Sosial Palembang pada bulan Mei tahun 2012, dengan jumlah sampel 30 responden.
