This paper presents the discussion about the viability of alternative therapies, as well as the possibilities of its application. It is emphasized that some researchers refer warily to alternative therapies, but most publications are in solidarity with regards to its positive aspects and expediency of application. The authors have studied the scientific literature, and based on its own information, concluded that the alternative therapy doesn´t opposed to the official medicine, moreover, the alternative therapy contributes as an additional strategy, to improving the effectiveness of the influence on the patient treated by means of the standard methods of prevention and treatment of acute and chronic pathology, of human cancers. Alternative therapy gives hope, the patients live psychologically motivated expectation of arrival of the long-awaited, if not health in the biological sense of this word, at least positive clinical effect, long-term remission, improved quality of life. Based on the study of the scientific literature and own data, devoted to the clinical, pathophysiological and experimental studies with the use of the sulfide mineral water, chronophototherapy by the Siberian ginseng, the phy-toveta, the adaptogenic phytococtails "Biorhythm-PC" as a means of alternative therapy, the positive results were received, showing their high efficiency. From the viewpoint of the authors, alternative medicine as part of regenerative medicine should still be regarded as an effective structural and functional element of reparative biogenesis.

Experimental studies have shown that with an increased level of mineral nutrition (N120P180K240) all varieties increased the yield (by 1.7–4.1 tons/ha, or by 10–25%), while the most productive varieties being Bryansky Nadezhny, Bryanskaya Novinka, Slava Bryanshchiny (21.9–22.9 tons/ha). In terms of dry substances content almost all varieties met the requirements of processing, which called for for a dry substance level in tubers of at least 20–24%. With an increase in the dose of fertilizers the amount of starch and dry matter in tubers decreased. On an average background, the starch content compared to the control decreased by 0.7–1.1%, dry substances — by 0.7– 1.2%, on an increased background respectively — by 1.2–1.7%, dry substances — by 1.4–2.7%. The taste of potatoes on an increased background of fertilizers worsened regardless of variety. In terms of darkening of the flesh, raw cleaned tubers of all varieties are not suitable for long-term storage (for example, for 24 hours), while boiled tubers of all varieties did not reduce the quality. Growing potatoes on an increased background of mineral nutrition increased the darkening of raw tubers of the studied varieties compared to control. In the studied varieties the content of reducing sugars in many cases exceeded the amount allowed for the manufacture of crispy potatoes, and therefore its quality was reduced, mainly due to the color of the slices. Almost all varieties gave puree of good quality. An increase in the background of fertilizers slightly worsened the consistency of puree, which reduced the overall estimate.

Analytical equations of a new spline approximation method for filtering impulse noise in images are obtained. The proposed method differs from the known ones: when filtering images, one-dimensional sequential spline functions are used for direct and inverse transformations, and the processing is performed in rows and columns. In this work, experimental studies based on computer simulation using special test images on the background of impulse noise were conducted. Experimental studies have shown the operability and high efficiency of the developed method, which allow to improve the quality of image filtering by up to 10 dB. In this case, the properties of spline functions make it possible to abandon the use of various masks, that is, to abandon inefficient linear methods of image filtering. The method can be used to create digital image processing systems in the industry, to create autonomous robots, under observation conditions that complicate the registration process, and in the absence of a priori information about the form of background noise.

Objective: Foster family care is associated with adverse short- and long-term consequences for the child. A systematic review was conducted on interventions for foster children and foster careers. Method: A comprehensive search process was used to find eligible interventions evaluated in randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental studies. The quality of studies was assessed with GRADE, and effects were synthesized using meta-analytic methods. Results: In all, 28 publications of 18 interventions, including 5,357 children, were identified. Only three specific interventions had sufficient confidence of evidence. No study had examined tools for foster parent selection nor had evaluated preservice programs related to outcomes. Discussion: These analyses provide new insights and hope into the field of systematic interventions in foster care. The overall results indicate that it is possible to improve eight outcomes but cannot point out which programs are superior. Ethically, social care organizations should systematically collect knowledge about effects and side effects.

Abstract A brief analysis of the available technologies for growing Artemia in the world and in Russia is given in the paper. The conditions for production of Artemia in natural reservoirs with a local Artemia population are shown. The results of laboratory experiments on reducing the incubation time of cysts to 2-23 hours (instead of the standard 24-48 hours) and the inoculation of nauplii and non-hatched cysts into the brine of natural lakes with salinity of 101, 125, 225 and 333‰ are given in details. The following indicators are analyzed: the rate of hatching during incubation, the rate of hydration of cysts during incubation and dehydration in brine; the survival rate of nauplii in brine, the possibility of hatching nauplii from cysts in brine with different salinity. The results of long-term observations of the survival of Artemia crustaceans in the brine of the lake in the absence of feeding are also presented. It is possible to reduce the incubation time to 6-20 hours is concluded in the paper. The dependence of the duration of incubation of cysts on the temperature, quality of cysts and salinity of natural brine was noted. To determine the optimal incubation time of cysts the formulas for calculating T90 according to the temperature and salinity of brine for cysts of different quality are given.

(1) Background: Although panic disorder (PD) is one of the most common anxiety disorders severely impacting quality of life, no effective genetic testing exists; known data on possible genetic biomarkers is often scattered and unsystematic which complicates further studies. (2) Methods: We used PathwayStudio 12.3 (Elsevier, The Netherlands) to acquire literature data for further manual review and analysis. 229 articles were extracted, 55 articles reporting associations, and 32 articles reporting no associations were finally selected. (3) Results: We provide exhaustive information on genetic biomarkers associated with PD known in the scientific literature. Data is presented in two tables. Genes COMT and SLC6A4 may be considered the most promising for PD diagnostic to date. (4) Conclusions: This review illustrates current progress in association studies of PD and may indicate possible molecular mechanisms of its pathogenesis. This is a possible basis for data analysis, novel experimental studies, or developing test systems and personalized treatment approaches.

There is presented a review of scientific literature characterizing the main directions of modern research of the process of grinding of fibrous semi-finished products of high consistence. Theoretical approaches are described in the study of qualitative parameters of pulp during its processing in knife grinding machines. Researchers note an increase in the paper-forming properties of the pulp and the physical and mechanical characteristics of the finished product. This paper provides an overview of experimental studies of the high consistence pulp milling process. The effect of high consistence mass grinding intensity on the quality of the finished product is considered, the nature of fiber development when grinding high and low consistence mass is compared. Experimental studies show that an increase in the intensity of exposure when grinding a high consistence mass leads to a decrease in the tensile energy absorption index, and a decrease in the deformation of the paper sheet is also observed with an increase in the grinding intensity. With an increase in the pulp c consistence, a change in the degree of delamination, internal and external fibrillation of the fiber wall is observed. The high-consistence pulp milling process is accompanied by higher specific energy consumption compared to low- consistence pulp milling, but observations at the fiber wall level show a more developed external specific surface area. This review of the scientific literature will serve as a basis for further research on the grinding of high consistence fibrous materials.

Diabetic gastroenteropathy is one of the main morbidities in long-term diabetic patients, which causes several symptomatic manifestations, such as heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and even constipation, diarrhea and fecal incontinence. Its pathophysiology differs for each organ and may be caused by neuropathy of the autonomic nervous system, by loss of interstitial cells in Cajal, as well as by oxidative stress resulting from hyperglycemia. Its main therapeutic interventions include maintaining glycemic control. In such context, nutritional therapy based on functional foods might emerge as an alternative treatment for diabetic gastroenteropathy due to the presence of bioactive compounds that assist the glycemic control, improving the quality of life of patients. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate, in the scientific literature, functional foods that have a role in glycemic homeostasis and the diabetic complications of the gastrointestinal tract. Cinnamon, oats, guava, yacon potatoes, pumpkin, flaxseed and avocado were among the functional foods studied here.

This work presents experimental studies aiming at the development of new technology and guidelines for shaping labels from polypropylene multilayer foil using an ultraviolet (UV) laser cutting operation. Currently on production lines, the shaping of labels is undertaken by mechanical cutting or laser cutting, taking into account the phenomenon of hot ablation. These technologies cause many problems such as burr formation on labels sheared edges, rapid tool wear, or heat-affected zone (HAZ) formation. The experimental tests were carried out on a specially designed laser system for cutting polypropylene foil using the phenomenon of cold ablation. Parametric analyses were conducted for several foil thicknesses t = 50, 60, 70 and 80 µm. The process parameters were optimized in terms of high efficiency and high labels-cut surface quality. A new criterion has been developed for assessing the quality of UV laser cutting of polypropylene foils. The results indicate a significant effect of the cutting speed and laser frequency on the width of the degraded zone on the sheet cut edge. As a result of a developed optimization task and reverse task solution it is possible to cut labels at high speeds (v = 1.5 m/s) while maintaining a high quality of cut edge free of carbon, delamination and color changes. A degraded zone does not exceed in the examined cases s ≤ 0.17 mm.
