The article presents findings of the research into the use of discussion forums in remote learning. This tool was used in a series of academic classes aimed at developing selected elements of translation competence. The paper begins with a discussion of the notion of translation competence and its components, followed by a presentation of didactic objectives formulated for the presented series of classes with full-time teaching in mind, the level of knowledge and skills of the course participants, the degree of realization of the didactic objectives in remote teaching, and conclusions.

The formation of a powerful, active, and dynamic axiological foundation of personality is one of the essential tasks of the competency approach because even a high level of knowledge and skills acquired in the process of learning and education cannot ensure the integrity and progressively oriented unity of personal and professional competencies for future successful life, socio-cultural and professional self-realization. Given this, within the competence paradigm of education, qualitatively new content is the unity of learning and education. If before a significant amount of theoretical knowledge, detached from real life, had a shallow educational potential, now any pedagogical action, even focused on the cognitive assimilation of basic scientific knowledge, will have a worldview. An essential characteristic of the competency approach in education is that it can ensure each student’s unique structure the unity of knowledge, competencies, and values.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have been a popular trend in the online learning landscape. However, MOOC learners have expressed their dissatisfaction with the courses or problems with course management. To develop a widely accepted MOOC, the main aim of this study is to investigate the characteristics of MOOCs by using eight themes: learning outcomes, affective elements, behaviours, design, technology elements, pedagogy, presence and institutional environment. Using the case study approach, we explored the practices of four MOOCs in an Excel specialisation by using student unsolicited feedback, the literature and the analysis of the MOOCs by researchers. We analysed the learners’ posts on the official forums with auto-code sentiment and text search functions in Nvivo 12 Plus. The results of this study showed that high-rated MOOCs had approximately 74.7% of positive sentiments on discussion forums, with 1.2% negative and 24.1% neutral. The results indicated that MOOCs helped learners improve their level of knowledge in the subject area. Teachers/instructors also play a very significant role, and they have to provide clear explanations in different concepts. To conclude, this study intends to offer guidelines to researchers, educators, and MOOC designers to create successful MOOCs by focusing on the eight dimensions.

This research aims to analyse effectiveness of the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (INQF)-based learning on General Physics to increase the sixth level student’s Learning Outcomes (LOs) according to the INQF indicators and student’s skills in using physics laboratory equipment. This research was conducted using two groups of students that consisted of 29 and 30 students. A preliminary test (pre-test) and a post-test were applied to the groups that assumed to have the same level of knowledge and skills. The data were analysed using the paired t-test, the n-gain, and the ANOVA. The results show that the INQF-based learning applied to the General Physics effective in increasing the student’s LOs according to the INQF indicators. Moreover, the n-gain scores between the pre-test and the post-test can be categorized as moderate for the sixth level student’s LOs and categorized as high for the student’s skills in using the physics laboratory equipment. Introduction. Hemodynamic monitoring is of great importance because it covers all vital organic systems and their functioning, and any error in the interpretation of the monitored parameters can lead to a drastic deterioration of the patient’s condition and cause death. Aim. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of knowledge about hemodynamic monitoring of full-time and part-time students of the first, second, and third year of the undergraduate study of nursing at the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb. Methods. A cross sectional study was conducted. The survey subjects were students at the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb (N=280) in the period between December 2020 and February 2021. For the purposes of the study, the authors created a questionnaire that students filled in using an online platform, and the results of the questionnaire were anonymous. Results. The research found that most students have an adequate level of knowledge in the field of hemodynamic monitoring. By determining differences in knowledge of part-time and full-time nursing students, it was observed that students with work experience showed statistically significantly better results (p<0.05). Conclusion. The conducted study showed an adequate level of knowledge of nursing studies, since a high number of students, outside of their faculty obligations, have not been in contact with hemodynamic monitoring. The specificity and complexity of work in the intensive care unit comes from a particularly vulnerable population of patients who require maximum care, which is why nurses need continuous education, skill improvement, and training regarding new monitoring methods.

Innledning: Radiografiens fagområder er i konstant utvikling. Det setter krav til utdanningen til arbeidsgiver og til profesjonsutøveren som skal forsikre seg om at kunnskaper og ferdigheter er ajour, og at man holder høy standard fra første til siste arbeidsdag. Det er forsket lite på hvordan radiografene opplever om de har tilstrekkelig kunnskap og erfaring rundt legemiddelhåndteringen. Metode: En kvalitativ studie med observasjon av fem radiografer, som også inngikk i fokuserte intervjuer med hensikt å kartlegge opplevelser og vurderinger om sikkerheten i legemiddelhåndteringen, i yrkespraksisen. Resultater: Den daglige utførelsen av arbeidet vitner om trygghet i legemiddelhåndteringen, ved at håndterings-situasjoner preges av og høyt faglig kunnskapsnivå. Radiografene stiller seg likevel positive til mer jevnlig oppfølging, undervisning eller kursing ved arbeidsplassen, og diskusjoner om sikkerhet. Konklusjon: Radiografenes kunnskapsnivå innenfor legemiddellære erfares å være adekvat i henhold til målsettingen for emnet, i bachelor-utdanningen i radiografi. Imidlertid er dette en liten studie, og temaet bør følges opp videre.   Abstract Introduction: The field of work in radiography is in constant development. This imposes requirements for both education, the professional practitioner herself, and for the employer who will ensure that knowledge and skills are up to date in order to maintain high standards at all times. Internationally organizational development and professional knowledge are continually calling for radiographer’s familiarization with the latest standards and techniques in this field. There has been little research on how radiographers experience if they have sufficient knowledge and experience in medication and drug administration. Method: A qualitative study with observation of five radiographers, who also participated in focused interviews aimed at mapping their experiences and assessments about the safety of drug administration in professional practice. Results: The observed performance of the radiographers´ work testifies to safe drug administration in that administration situations are characterized by a high academic level of knowledge. Still, radiographers are positive to more regular follow-up learning and/or training at the workplace, and discussions about drug administration safety. Conclusion: Radiographers' level of knowledge in the field of drug administration was found to be adequate according to the expected learning outcomes of the bachelor education in radiography. However, this is a small study, and the subject should be followed up further.

Online discussion forums are increasingly being utilized to provide a means for student-to-student interaction in e-learning environments. There is comparatively little research that examines peer-facilitated asynchronous online discussions compared to instructor-facilitated ones. This paper reports three studies on the motivators of student contribution in online discussions conducted within the context of peer-facilitation. These three studies involved the following samples: (a) full-time undergraduates (n = 47), (b) full-time graduates (n = 41), and (c) working adults in corporate settings (n = 62). Cross-comparison of the three studies revealed six major motivators: discussion topic, performance-linked incentive, personal gain, social capital, enjoyment, and response from other participants. Interestingly and contrary to expectations, the most common motivator was not performance-linked incentive such as marks for contribution but (a) the type of discussion topic followed by (b) the types of responses from other participants. Further analyses revealed that more graduate students reported being motivated by personal gain motives compared to undergraduates and working adults, and fewer undergraduates reported being motivated by the enjoyment of the discussion compared to graduates and working adults. More undergraduate and graduate students reported being motivated by marks compared to working adults. Synthesizing the findings of this study and those reported in other previous studies produces a more updated and comprehensive understanding of what motivates students to contribute in peer-facilitated online discussions. Implications of the findings are discussed.

Rural farmers make up the majority of crop producers in any developing economy. Their level of access to agricultural information stems from the knowledge and skills they possess. This article aims to identify the sources of agricultural information and the level of knowledge and skills rural farmers possess for accessing such information in South-East Nigeria. A structured interview schedule and focus group discussions were used to collect relevant data. The method of analysis involves frequency counts, percentages and means. The study reveals that 41.7% of the respondents were between the ages of 41 and 50, while 62.6% were married, 84.8% were Christians and 29.8% had no formal education. The major source of agricultural information was through friends and co-workers, while the knowledge and skills they possessed for accessing agricultural information were generally low. The work provides an objective framework and measure of the existing competencies, and identifies the need for further skills acquisition.

Buffalo’s population decreased for 0.06% every year in 2005 to 2013 in Pandeglang District. Development programs and activities were supported by the local government policy in order to overcome the problems. Farmers as the main human resources play important roles in buffaloes farming development. This research was conducted to assess the knowledge and skills, motivation and participation of farmers in buffaloes farming development in Pandeglang District, using the study case in Cibarani Village, Cisata Sub-district. Surveys and interview to 93 farmers were used to obtain the data required in the study. Farmers were divided into four farmer groups i.e. Saluyu Jaya, Cirukap Makmur, Taruna Mandiri and Putra Makmur with the number of respondents were 16, 10, 21 and 46 respectively. Data were analyzed descriptively and provided in tables. Level of knowledge, motivation and participation of human resources were analyzed using a Mann-Whitney non-parametric statistics. The results showed that the farmer’s knowledge and participation were on satisfactory level, while their motivations, in keeping buffaloes farming as their main activities, were high.Keyword : buffalo, farmer, knowledge, motivation, participation

THE ROLE OF EXTENSION TO THE ADOPTION OF FARMERS INNOVATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF WEST TOMOHON DISTRICT TOMOHON CITY. Study was conducted on December 2019 to evaluate the role extension in the adoption of smallholder innovation in development of native chicken at West Tomohon District. This research was a survey using questionnaires. Samples were determind by purposive sampling method involving 30 smallholder of local native chicken. Chi square method was used to analyze the data. The role of extension was meansured by ordinal scale for questions given to breeders and the adoption of innovation  was measured by ordinal scale of the level   of knowledge, attitudes and skills of native chicken farmers. Knowledge was divided into several categories, namely high, medium and low knowledge, the attitude of the category accepts innovation, it is enough to accept innovation and reject innovation, the skill of the category was skilled, sufficiently skilled and unskilled. The results of the study used Chi-Square analysis showed that the role of extension workers had a significant relationship with the attitudes of native chicken farmers while on the other hand the role of extension workers did not not have a significant relationship with the knowledge and skills of native chicken farmers.
